  1. Doc,

I have a problem, I suffering from Bruxism, I started having grinding activity since bout last year, the effect was my jaw started to lock which I don't suffer before, I heard that I need a mouth guard for this but how will I stop grinding? some say it's psychological? is this true?

Yes, it's true that the cause for bruxism is mostly psychological. It's particularly caused by stress and a mouth guard can help by protecting the teeth even as you grind. You may have to find some time to relax or even take a vacation if you can. Asides from the mouth guard you could use some way to channel that stress so that it doesn't affect you as much as it does now. It is also in a lesser way affected by the way your jaw and it's structures relate to each other but not enough to influence the grinding as much as the stress. :D

  2. :) hello peeps! i'm new in this site and my compliments to all! di ko alam

na possible pa rin to have a sensible topic like this over the net.. i’m kinda

    impressed!!

anyways, i’ll dive na rin sa topic.. doc,  maitanong ko po lang kung magkano

ang dental implant sa clinic nyo or in any mainstream dental clinic for that matter, gusto ko pong malaman magkano per unit (tooth). i know there’ll be a price variation, depende sa type of material that you’ll use, let’s just say i wanted the high end material to be use for my implants..  and if you don’t mind, can you give me a short abstract of how this procedure goes.

Implant dentistry is the procedure wherein an area without teeth and sufficient support from the remaining teeth is operated on to accept a prosthesis placed within or fastened upon the bone where the missing teeth used to be. These implants are usually made of biologically compatible materials such as titanium and can replace up to three missing teeth, depending on the case. A denture that can be screwed on is then placed on top of the implant once the bone has healed and this denture now serves as a non-removeable prosthesis. The average implant usually costs from $500 to $2000 each and a full replacement of the upper or lower arch usually requires at least 6 implants. :D

  3. Good day manyak dentists

    Much delayed reply.

I suggest you have a dentist look at the area first since a dentist's expertise not only involves teeth but also the surrounding tissues such as the gums and other surfaces of the mouth. So sorry for the late reply.

  4. I have the same problem... pucha bad trip yan. sobrang nakakainis...

I attributed this to lack of memory or something related to my sound cards...maybe in the drivers i suppose. kaso nga lang, I have a creative soundcard and very very picky ang mga drivers ng creative. kaunting tweak ayun crash PC.. and creative is not kown for being updated in terms of drivers and software updates. :(

Heheh. I have my Audigy just lying on the shelf gathering dust 'cuz I got sick of the crashes and glitches that it caused. Unfortunately even my motherboard sound messes up. I'm wondering if there's a tweak or setting that can fix it. I don't have problems with most other games tho.

  5. I got Doom 3 up and running today. Sweet graphics! I could use another 512MB to get it and Star Wars Galaxies running better tho. :D

I used the new ATi beta drivers and a couple tweaks in the Doom 3 configuration files to improve frame rate. Can anyone suggest a way to keep the system from having stuttering audio when using surround sound?

  6. ,Jul 19 2004, 06:06 AM] i'm currently using athlon 3000+ 64 bit

nvidia video card 32MB (dedicated memory)....not a lot but enough for CS

    512MB ddr sdram

    dvd burner +r

    60 gb HD....

    JBL pro Speakers.....

anyone using 64 bit OS here??

I'm having a problem with my display compatibilty. I'm not sure if linux have a driver for wxga tft display.....

Dude you're holding your computer back with that vid card of yours! Is that a laptop? Anyway, personally I'm waiting 'til PCI Express becomes prevalent before I upgrade to an Athlon64. I'm also waiting for the new chipset to come out. As for linux drivers, since it's open source, perhaps you can write your own?

  7. Salamat. Mukhang high end nga ang setup mo. How do you find your DFI Lanparty Ultra II MOBO? My ECS 848P works fine but I'm still having a problem in having the onboard 6-ch audio work.

I like the mobo a lot! It has lots of extras and overclocking is a cinch! I'm using firewire to network 3 comps and the included ports are a godsend. It has 6 channel sound but I had to configure it so that the center channel comes out of the microphone socket in the back. Something about the wiring I think.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy that I installed for a few weeks in the rig but with all the errors and crashes I was getting I decided to remove it. Now it's just on a shelf gathering dust.

  8. pre, magkano ang estimate mo sa desktop without the DVD-RW and 19" monitor. Pati ano ang equivalent ng setup mo sa Pentium 4 processor speed? Is it better than P4 3 Ghz?

Hmm...setup ko kasi pushing 40k without the DVD-RW and monitor. Yung Intel may dagdag kaysa sa AMD kaya add at least 5k more. As for the equivalent speed, subjectively speaking, considering that I have 4 hard drives with the swap file in a different drive, it ends up faster than my 3GHz laptop. This is the rig I use for video editing and gaming. :D

  9. I currently use Maxthon, formerly MyIE2. Based on IE obviously but uses tabbed browsing, site groups, built in pop-up and ad stoppers, and uses less resources than IE. I like it when a crash occurs and you reload the program, it asks if you'd like to reload those sites that you were viewing before the crash occurred. :D

  10. Desktop:

Athlon XP Barton Core 2500+ overclocked to 3200+

    ATi Radeon 9600XT 256MB

    512MB DDR400 RAM

320 Gigs HD space using 4 80 Gig Hard drives

DFI Lanparty Ultra II mobo with 5.1 speaker setup

    8x DVD+/-RW burner

    16x DVD-ROM drive

    400watt power supply

    19" monitor

I played and finished Far Cry with this. Smooth as silk. :D

    Laptop:

    Compaq R3070US

    3.0Ghz Pentium 4

    ATi Mobility Radeon 9200 64MB

    512 MB RAM

    80Gig HD

    802.11g Wi-fi, bluetooth

    WinXP Pro

    4x JBL Pro built-in speakers

    5-in-1 card reader

Those are my higher end rigs. Medyo tinatamad ako ilagay yung iba. :D

  11. i think i need to have my wisdom teeth extracted. can u refer me to a dentist that's good and affordable? thanks.

Wisdom tooth extraction is usually a more involved procedure than the extraction of other teeth especially when it's impacted. This is because of the location of the tooth and the additional materials and precautions used to gain access to the tooth. The materials needed are greater and there are more considerations involved in the procedure. Please consider these before you decide to have the procedure done for a lesser price than usual. :)

  12. doc tanong ko lang ha.....i recommended u ksi sa isang opismate ko but when she heard how much she said that it is too expensive daw kc meron na rin daw nag-alok sa kanya for 20k + lang.....ano ba sa tingin nyo pagkakaiba nung sa clinic nyo kumpara sa other na cheaper ang fee.....

Well, prices usually depend on the location, the difficulty of the case, or the experience level of the dentist. Makati prices are usually higher than say, Tondo but it doesn't necessarily mean that the quality is less. In my case for example, the orthodontist is a former board examiner and haas been practicing for almost 30 years. Orthodontic treatment, in fact, usually comes out as a break even deal when you calculate the value of the materials and labor as compared to the prices. :D

  13. hello. may itatanong lang ako.

i usually brush my teeth again after brushing. bakit pag sa first time ko magbrush, my gums bleed, pero sa second time, wala na yung dugo? di naman virgin yung gums ko e hehehe

    yun lang po. tnx

Wow, I really took my time to answer this post!

Anyway, the first time you brush gums that bleed, it's because there's food lodged in the gums and it's the food and bacteria in there that irritates the gums. During brushing the dirt gets dislodged but since the gums are already swollen and engorged with blood, they easily get punctured by the dirt and sometimes the toothbrush.

The next time you brush, since the dirt is gone, the gums aren't as swollen as they used to be and aren't as susceptible to irritation and trauma. They can withstand the brushing and have healed since there is no more irritation. :D

  14. I decided to erase my installation of Win Server 2k3 completely and reinstall WinXP. It works like a charm now and I just use the router as a switch since I use the server as a router as well. Thanks for the help y'all!

By the way, I use NTFS exclusively for all my computers. No more hassles with lost clusters and stuff, at least not as much as before. :D

  15. leinad31: aight dude. =]

alkalinejemil: you can just delete the win98 install folder (just make sure you delete the correct folder - the default is \Windows). Then, u might have to edit the boot.ini file. To do this: Control panel -> System -> Advanced tab -> Startup and recovery settings. Manually edit the file and remove all entries for Win98. This will get rid of the Win98 option during startup. Hope this helps.

In the same vein, I have WinXP and Win Server 2k3 in separate partitions. I'm using WinXP exclusively now because server was too involved for me. Is it safe to just delete the Win Server 2k3 after editing the boot.ini file or is there something else I have to do?

  16. Only the server is having surfing and file transfer problems. The rest of the computers operate normally with each other. They can ping within 1ms each and all have access to the internet. It must be a setting in the server that I haven't found yet. :(

  17. Just using a cheapo Edimax router with 4 network ports, 3 connected to the computers on my desk and the other one to another switch that has connections all over the office. :D

  18. Hehe. Thanks for the suggestions guys. I decided to go back to WinXP for the server and I got a router.

My main problem these days is when I copy large files from the server. In the middle of the transfer it cuts off and I get the message "The specified network name is no longer available." When I use another computer to copy files from the server to another computer it finishes fine but the transfer is so slow for a 100mbit network. :( When I used the server with active directory copying was fast and consistent. Strange.

Also, ever since I installed the router, whenever I surf with the server it often displays incomplete web pages such as missing images. Sometimes the page doesn't load at all. It worled fine when the server was also the router. Please help!
