  1. my sister has dentures but she's planning to have a teeth implant. pls give me a range of how expensive it is. thank you.

Whoa! Implants are quite pricey! It's usually $1k per post and a full mouth usually requires at least 8 posts! But then that depends on the case. That doesn't include the denture that comes with the treatment which can cost another $1k. Good luck on the implants. I can refer some good implantologists if you like. :D

  2. thank you for your opinion...  :)

    two more questions :

    - isn't a root canal procedure painful?

    - are there other procedures (aside from root canal) that can help retain the tooth/teeth?

Actually it's a common misconception that the procedure is painful. It is the infection due to extensive tooth decay that causes the pain since the only thing the pulp in the tooth can sense is pain, regardless of pressure, heat or cold. Antibiotic therapy for a few days is recommended before the procedure because an active infection can neutralize the effects of the anesthesia when it is injected. The root canal procedure is intended to remove the diseased or dead pulp as well as any bacteria causing the infection and replacing it with a filling material that is neutral to the tissues and provides a tight seal to prevent reinfection.

Other procedures to help retain the teeth require that the pulp is not infected or extensively exposed. Filling materials or jackets can restore the teeth to the proper anatomy and these are used even after a root canal treatment is performed.

  3. hi guys,

just wanted to ask about the following:

    1. which is better for a bad tooth (actually, two front teeth) , to have it extracted or root canal then pasta?

    2. which is cheaper, dentures or root canal with pasta?

    thanks

Dentists are supposed to, as much as possible, preserve the natural teeth. It would be considered better for a tooth to be retained and restored because maintenance of a denture is more difficult that maintaining natural teeth. As for the price, it will depend on the practitioner but most of the dentists I know will probably charge more for the dentures. :D

  4. Last question po..kailangan po ba Cosmetic dentist ang hanapin ko parang maganda ang result or any kind of dentists will do?..

    salamat po uli!  :)

You don't necessarily need a cosmetic dentist but if you are willing to shell out the extra cash then you have a better chance of getting the results you desire. :D

  5. Oral specialist and to other dentists,

Hi goodday! I have a fused to metal jacket one on my front tooth and the other is the second tooth from it..One day I went to a dentst planning to have it replaced with a porcelain crown but she offered me compsite build up instead..which did not turn out well..after the procedure is over I found out that she's has just been practicing for less than a year, and I dont want to judge her..but i think hindi pa posya ganun kahasa hindi po talaga maganda ang result..so ngayun Im desperate to find a dentist who can make a good all pocelain crown..masyado po ako partikular sa magiging appearance..kaya nga po i prefer all porcelain para maganada aesthetically wise..I need your help po

meron po ba kayo ma rerecommend na magaling gumawa nang all porcelain?..and kung maari yung reasonable yung price?

Wala pa po kc ako nakikita sa pilipinas nang nakasuot nag all porcelain crown..maganda po ba talaga sya?..to the extent na hindi mo na mahahalata yung difference nya from a real teeth?

and lastly bakit extreme yung pagkaiba iba nang price nila nang maga dentists?..there's as low as 6000pesos per unit..and as high as 30,000 per unit..and averagely ang offer 12,000..pag mas mahal ba ibig sabihin mas magaling?

mag kano po sa inyo ang all pocelain crown per unit?

    maraming salamat po!!!

Like in any profession, experience counts not only in determining the price of the services, but also in the quality of the work. More experience allows the dentist to compare more variables and to know what design is more acceptable for many people. Personally, I learn something new every time I work on a patient. :D

One thing about using an all porcelain crown instead of the porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown is that it tends to be more susceptible to fracture. I'm not saying that it will fracture tho but in terms of durability a sub-gingival preparation of the PFM crown might suit you instead. If you do opt for an all porcelain crown, you have to be very conscious about biting down on the tooth and more tooth substance will have to be removed to accommodate a thicker crown.

The extremes in prices are dictated not only by the price of labor, but by the materials used and the rates of the dental laboratory that makes the denture. The location of the dental office is also a big factor in determining prices.

Just so you can compare, I sent you a PM for my prices. Ethics prevents me from posting them online. :D

  6. here's mine naman,

my kid is 3 years old, when he bites the upper teeth is inside the lower ones, i dont dont if it is limited to the 4 front teeth, how can it be corrected and at what age, baka kasi madeform yung face ng kid ko, is there anybody here who is good on kids and can fill his tooth, sira kasi ung 3rd teeth from the bagang i think.

    thanks

You might need to consult with an orthodontist. He won't be fitted with braces but a removeable appliance will probably be needed for the overlapping teeth. As for the filling, most dentists are trained to deal with children so unless the child has special considerations, you should be okay with your regular dentist. :D

  7. With all of these distributions available, I was wondering: is there a degree of incompatibility between the distros? Why so many? And how well do they compare with each other?

I plan to try a distro in a virtual machine in my Windows installation so I can get a feel of it. What is a good distro for me to get my feet wet?

  8. Desktop:

Athlon XP Barton Core 2500+ overclocked to 3200+

    ATi Radeon 9600XT 256MB

    512MB DDR400 RAM

320 Gigs HD space using 4 80 Gig Hard drives

DFI Lanparty Ultra II mobo with 5.1 speaker setup

    8x DVD+/-RW burner

    16x DVD-ROM drive

    400watt power supply

    19" monitor

    Recently upgraded some items:

Added a 160GB SATA drive and a 200GB SATA drive for a total of 660GB

    Added 512MB DDR400 RAM for a total of 1GB

I also plan to install a Gigabit Ethernet card in my Athlon 1600+ server (for email and downloads) so I can connect it directly to this computer at full speed. This server has 1GB RAM but only 80GB storage. Obviously for temporary storage. :D

I also have an 1800MHz Duron system for other people to surf on. :D

  9. I tweaked the settings on my rig and updated the BIOS as well as tinkered with it. Apparently there is a setting for SATA and SATA RAID in the BIOS. I set it to SATA RAID and the drive spinning and system pauses stopped! I just have to reformat my other drive to get things going again. Another thing I learned is not to use dynamic disks anymore. <_

  10. Hmm, SATA drives are very tricky.

We're also having problems with them here at the office.  We bought a server for FTP and the SATA drives are just causing problems.

I won't be purchasing any SATA drives anytime soon.

Well, in case these don't prove reliable, at least I have SATA-to-PATA adapters to fall back on. I guess I just have to replace the SATA drives with regular EIDE drives. :(

  11. bad connection or u dont the proper drivers installed...

does ur sata drive encased in a mobile "pullout" casing?

maybe its not your sata drive but ur ram, coz when ram is inadequate windows uses the drive

as a memory like ram and this feature is normally on on first install of windows...

check out your cable connections as well.

also recommended, run diagnostics tool from ur hd manufacturer when available.

Hmm, it can't be the connection because I also have an 80GB drive that ran fine. That was the one I replaced...

The drive is mounted on the rack so there's nothing between it and the cable...

I have 1GB RAM so it can't be limited RAM...

I tried different combinations and cables as well...

I'll try to download the latest from the manufacturer. Aren't SATA drives from different manufacturers supposed to be able to work together?

Well, I spoke to the service department rep of the manufacturer of the drive. He advised that it might be a factory defect and I should send it back for replacement. I have to start backing up my data then. :(

Thanks for the tips tho!

  12. Can anyone help me? I recently purchased a 200GB SATA drive and I have it in my desktop. My problem is that the drive occassionally causes the system to freeze for a minute or two as it spins, making it difficult to use as well as copy files into from another system. Why does this happen? Thanks in advance! :D

  13. good morning to you dok.. how much for the  fixed briged denture ...

from central up to my 2nd premolar.. pls help... or just PM me..

how much for the porcelain?? or 1st class plastic.

    thanks..

Hi. Sent you a pm. I hope it helps! :D

  14. Good Afternoon MTC Medical and Dental Practitioners!

I would like to ask for your opinion on what other people say as "One of the greatest beakthroughs in medical history in recent years." Here is the link: http://www.mymangosteen.com/joey/product/

There are a lot of testimonies from people I know and from abroad and I would just like to hear your side. Thanks!

I believe that the best way to find out if the product is good would be to try it out yourself. Some people react differently to certain products than others. If this is beneficial for you then go for it. I haven't tried the product myself so I can't comment on the product. :D

  15. Thanks for info Oral Specialist! Do you have a ballpark figure how much does it cost? My dentist told for a 6 month period of treatment (dental appliance with therapy) it would cost me 35k. Is this price just right? :)

It actually depends on the technique and materials used as well as the severity of the TMJ problem. I can't really say if the price is right since it's usually at the dentist's discretion. Apparently your dentist has quite an extablished practice. :D

  16. Gud am Oral Specialist, is TMJ (tempomandibular joint) disorder true? i check with a dentist and she said that i have this condition although its on the initial stage only.

    :)

Good afternoon! Oh yes it's very true. It usually occurs when there is an imbalance in the way the teeth are contacting with each other when you chew. Stress can also be a factor as well as night grinding or uneven fillings. There can be many factors but it can be fixed with the proper appliance similar to a retainer. :D

  17. do you know how to treat a patient with hemophilia if he wishes he's tooth to be extracted?

The patient will need a physician to clear him. Lab results that show a good platelet count can indicate an eligibility for an extraction but a blood transfusion might be required before or after the treatment. :D

  18. braces doc.....

how much and recommended ortho? (sana muralang)

Braces can range from 25k to 100+k depending on the experience and location of the orthodontist. It may seem expensive but a study showed that orthodontic treatment expenses including labor just about breaks even. There are different orthodontic techniques and each one has unique material and procedural requirements. Of course the orthos who have been practicing longer usually command a higher price. I suggest that you canvas for a good orthodontist and ask people for their opinions. For objectivity's sake I can't make any recommendations in the boards. PM pwede.
