I have a Compaq Presario R3070US that I got last February. Here are the specs:

I tricked it out with the components I would have wanted included with it such as:

Bluetooth USB dongle

80GB external Firewire storage

Port replicator with parallel, serial, 2 PS/2, and 2 USB 1.1 ports

4 port USB 2.0 hub

4 post USB 1.1 hub

Needless to say I'm quite happy with it although those new desktop replacements and TabletPC are starting to look mighty good.

I won't bother listing the specs of my other notebooks as this is my main portable machine. I have 1 Sony VAIO 600MHz Celeron notebook, 1 Compaq Presario 600MHz Celeron notebook, 1 1GHZ Pentium III VAIO notebook.

Tagal talaga. Better to have them done where you work if the price difference isn't that great.

hello doc, pwede pa rin pa po akong mag pa implant eventhough  8 years na ang lumipas since extract yung teeth ko?gaano po katagal bago mag heal at makakain?maraming salamat po sa mga information nyo!

Oh yes! Ok lang yun kasi fully healed na yung area na yun. But be prepared to set aside at least a year for the full treatment including healing from the surgery up to the construction of the dentures to go with them.

Actually we do but I can only pm you the details. And yes, I was there last October but I went up to the Platinum Room to get some dinner and ended up watching from the closed circuit tv instead.

hi docs, i would just like to ask you something.. my gums have been bleeding so bad lately even there's no contact from foreign bodies.  My dentist advised my to undergo a "Deep Scaling" procedure. i just want to get a 2nd opinion from other dentists. thanks a lot

I understand if you're apprehensive about a deep scaling. It's performed in your case because your gums are irritated by tartar found within and this is difficult to remove using an ordinary toothbrush. Even if you're taking Vitamin C every day, the tartar is still there to torment your gums and will continue to cause the bleeding. I would recommend having the procedure as it is the only way to remove the tartar found in the gums.

Hi doc! Thanks for your offer to help. I'm sure a lot of the members will appreciate it. Could you perhaps give us a perspective on how dentisty is practiced there in contrast to here?

Also, do you still want to know about the different types of porcelain and veneer restorations available here? Most of the restorations are usually available and the newer or more exotic ones are likely to be ordered from Europe or the U.S.

anyway, just a bit of my dental history... ive had four root canals alreadu (two front incisors and a molar with two roots) and an impacted tooth was pulled about a year ago..  but thats not my question... hehehehe

 

well a tooth has been giving me two sleepless weeks!! ive been demanding to see my dentist for the past week but she seems to ignore me... (aunt ko pa naman... ) anyway, ive been taking mefenemic acid to relieve the pain and it worked for the first week (ponstan 250, before ako mag-sleep, to help me sleep... pero nagigising ko ng mga 4 AM cringing in pain) pero for the past couple of days... wa epek na!  im afraid to increase the dosage kasi baka kung ano epekto sa akin eh... have i grown tolerant of the medicine na??

 

anyway, its a molar, the one beside the one which had a post installed for a crown...

Man, sorry tagal ng reply ko. Looks like you'll need more than just pain killers. You seem to have an acute infection there that will require a prescription for antibiotics. Perhaps you could at least ask your aunt for that?

How much does implants cost these days per tooth? Approximate cost?

Oh those are pricey! From $500 to $2000 per implant and a full mouth needs 12!

My problem is different.

 

when i was a kid, about 10 or 12 years i think, i had one of my front tooth root canaled. Everythng went smooth and okay not until 15 years after.

 

the root canaled tooth (am i correct to say that its dead already?) has turned a little bit blackish and sobrang halata specially on pics.

 

due to this problem, it has been my insecurity ever since already. I dont smile on photos and whenever.

 

i tried to have it bleached doing two types of procedure. one is they drilled from the back and placed some chemical inside while the other procudure was whitening stuff placed on the surface. Unfoprtuantly, both dint work....or probly bka it improved konti, im not sure cuz i was really and still very dissapointed considering i had to pay for such services which dint work perfectly.

 

another dentist suggested caps or porcelain something, forgot what they call it. Im not keen in doing this since im a very physically active person whose into martial arts and strenous sports kaya it might just break.

 

so Doc, what can you advise?

You're correct in saying that the tooth is dead because the pulp has been removed already. Since the procedures you mentioned didn't work, the suggestion for a porcelain jacket would be the best solution for you especially with your active lifestyle. Porcelain is actually tougher than natural teeth. The only drawback is that you have to remove some tooth structure to have this placed and it can wear down the opposing tooth. A possible treatment would be a veneer. A veneer is a porcelain covering that can be placed over the visible portion of the tooth while minimizing the removal of tooth structure. It tends to cost less than a jacket crown but it may be more vulnerable to damage since it's thinner than a crown and isn't attached as well as a jacket.

Hmm...depends on the orthodontist and the materials used. The treatment can range from 25k up to 200k+! Experience of the ortho can influence the prices as well.

kelan ba dapat ito tangalin? 1 year nako naka retainers.

Depending on the case, some people need only 6 months of retainer time while for others they may have to wear the retainers for life. Ask your othodontist if you still need the retainers.

um.. to dentists here, help um pag umaga,  parang ng bleed yung gums ko ng konti... but minsan naman hindi... pansin ko lnag na tuwing mornings lang... um.. anu kaya yun?  thanks

This can happen because the flow of saliva is reduced during sleep. If there is food or tartar stuck between your teeth, the tendency of saliva to remove the food is reduced as well and so the gums get irritated. Couple that with the tendency of a person to swallow during sleep causing a suction effect in the mouth can make the gums bleed easily. Flossing properly and brushing thoroughly for at least 5 minutes, after meals and before sleeping, can help prevent the food getting stuck in between the teeth and irritating the gums.

I know that many of the procedures performed are uncomfortable but then these are the safest procedures possible for each particular condition. I'm sure if there is an easier, less painful way to treat patients and maintain affordability as well as avoid general anesthesia, it would be the procedure of choice.

The work we do isn't performed to hurt you or make things worse, it's actually meant to restore and preserve the teeth that you have. As much as possible, we try to avoid extracting teeth, in spite of what some unscrupulous dentists advertise ("Libre Bunot!"). We try to preserve what you have and help you maintain your teeth properly. The only thing we ask of you is take care of your teeth instead of neglecting them and then blaming us if they hurt or have to be replaced. I myself find even a cleaning uncomfortable so I just try to minimize the necessity by keeping my own teeth in good condition.

Any dentist out there where they can put you to sleep while treating you?  I'm totally phobic and haven't been to a dentist in years...

You might need to go to a hospital for this and it will cost much more than ordinary procedures since you will need an anesthesiologist to help perform the procedure as well. I recommend that you try having a cleaning first and some simple procedures to condition yourself for further procedures.

The product is good for whitening the teeth but it doesn't last as long as having the teeth whitened by a dentist. This is because the whitening agent does not penetrate the tooth surface as much as the professionally applied whiteners. Since it's available in supermarkets, I can't say I have an idea how much the retail prices are. They can easily vary between stores.

A root canal is the area occupied by the pulp or soft area of the tooth. The pulp is the tissue that occupies this area and provides nutrients that nourish the tooth. It is also the part that hurts when there is an infection and this is what we deal with when we perform a root canal procedure.

In this procedure, the pulp, after the application of anesthesia, is removed and the root canal is cleaned to get rid of any microorganisms that may remain in the canal. The area is then filled with a rubber-based substance called gutta percha and the rest of the tooth is restored using a filling.

Ask ko concerning my son,

 

He's 7 and his baby teeth is starting to fall out.  My son has really bad teeth as in Cavity infected, spoiled kasi ni mama, but not to the point the bungi na sya, me mga black stuff sa side ng teeth nya.  My question is, would it be wise for me to have all his bad teeth pulled out na lang para puro bago na teeth nya. o hayaan ko na lang.

I wouldn't recommend having his teeth pulled out since the baby teeth or primary teeth help align and make space for the permanent teeth for their eruption. The teeth with the black areas can be either filled in or if the damage is extensive, a stainless steel jacket can be placed over each tooth. Not only will the jackets protect the teeth from further damage, they will also compensate for the lack of proper spacing between the teeth in preparation for the succeeding teeth.

and ya, another one is I had one of my molars pulled out Im thinking of having it implanted, can i still have root canal or should I just use permanent dentures?

If the molar wasn't pulled out yet, then a root canal might be the best way to save the tooth. Since it was pulled out already, permanent dentures will be the least traumatic procedure. It will also depend on which particular tooth it is and if there are still teeth present beside the area left by the extracted tooth. Implants are usually recommended if there are no other teeth available to support a bridge due to the amount of trauma as well as the cost of the procedure.

I used to have braces, but since i lost my retainers 3 yrs ago i never went back to my dentist & now i think i'm having a relapse.    If the relapse is mild lang, can i just get retainers done?  or do i need full braces again?

It will depend upon the direction and extent of the relapse. If the teeth overlap. you might need full braces again. If they're mostly moving forwards or backwards, you may just need retainers.
