Thats easy to missout sometimes...

    Tama ba ekow?

I decided to go back to Windows XP so I can use file sharing. Now I can't get ICS to work properly. It only says "Web site found waiting for reply..." then I eventually get a "The page cannot be displayed" error. :( I was hoping for the transparency of NAT and the ease of use of file sharing for all computers. :((

  2. Well, looks like I'm back in the Computer thread with the same problem I had a few months ago. With a twist.

I recently installed Windows Server 2003 in the machine I have directly connected to the internet. I used to have Windows XP in it and the rest of my computers have XP as well. I can ping and I can access the internet. However, I can't detect the server from the other machines and the server can't detect the workgroup in spite of all of them being in the same workgroup. I have file sharing turned on in each machine. I even have the same login for each computer and only the XP machines can see each other. The login name I use has administrator priveleges. Can anyone help me?  :(

Could you further explain the problem? When you said you can't detect the server, do you mean via ping or via the windows explorer? If it is via windows explorer, try to do a ping first, if you are able to ping the server try find computer and instead of the computer name type in the ip address of the server. If this works please check you network settings for the netbios protocol. If you can ping the server but can't find it in the "find computer" try to check the network adapter settings for packet filtering settings.

    Hope this helps dude B)

Well, I can use the server for internet connection sharing, and I can ping back and forth beteween the server and the other computers. Searching from the workstations allows the server to be found but not accessed. Searching from the server doesn't produce any results. Netbios is enabled and there is no firewall for the network. I don't get it...

  4. pareng Oral,

kahit W2K server lang pwede na.

Oo, pero di kaya mas maganda ang upgrade to 2k3 kasi mas bago? Ginagamit ba nun yung drivers ng xp?

I have yet to administer a windows 2003 server but I assume it uses different drivers since XP and win 2k are already using different drivers.

As far as I know, WinXP CAN use Win2k drivers but not necessarily all of them. Also, I figure if the WinXP drivers work for Win2k3, then another certification process for the drivers won't be necessary.

  5. I have a question: I'm currently using WinXP for a server for about 7 computers. Will I benefit if I upgrade to Windows Server 2003 especially when it comes to assigning user permissions? I want to reduce my problems with permissions and have full access when I enter my name and password in any computer while restricting the permissions of my receptionist and other employees. Thanks!

  6. doc tanong lang, i've got one of my molar to have a tempo filing.

kaso nalipat ako ng work place from manila to cavite. napabayaan ko na yung

lumalaki yung butas from the bottom of pasta.

may way pa bang ma save pa yung tooth ko? balak ko na sanang ipabunot kaso

sayang eh. kumikirot na sya kapag tinatamaan while eating.....

First of all, bakit nilagyan ng temporary filling? Root canal ba yan? If that's the case, baka 'di pa masyadong nalinisan yung canal kaya may infection uli, hence the pain. :D

Second, lulubog talaga yung temporary filling kasi hindi kasing tibay yan ng permanent for obvious reasons. Ang temporary filling inilalagay lang for about a week or so habang under observation yung ngipin o may ginagawang filling sa lab.

    Hope this helps! :D

Aba! Gusto mo best of both worlds a? Unfortunately it's not possible. At least in my office. So take your pick: woman or man(yak).

  8. Bro Oral, these questions were posted at the member benefits thread. I'm transferring the questions lang:

    From hardman

    From daimaoh:

    From metallica

    :)

Thanks Bro Shinta! O sige, eto mga sagot ko:

    From hardman

doc mgkano ang braces up & down?

Usually I don't post our rates but since they're more standardized than regular treatments, they usually go from 75k up. You have to ask our resident ortho and I doubt that she'll give a discount for MTC members. That discount is usually from me. :D

    From daimaoh

oral... do u accept Maxicare ba? just wondering....

Unfortunately our office doesn't accept Maxicare. Sorry dude! :(

    From metallica

doc, musta??? magkano palinis ng ipin???

I can only give you a ballpark figure for ethical reasons but it's usually above 1k. That's without subtracting the discount. :D

I hope my answers helped you guys! :D

  9. I would just like to belatedly thank daklesse, jtknight and hubsnswitches who went out of their way and came over to my office to fix my network. and all that for some pizza only! I hope you had fun afterwards in Morning's house. I know I did!

  10. doc oralspecialist, thanks for sharing your expertise among the members, i enjoyed reading this thread.

    i have a question myself.

for the sake of curiosity, what are the top 5, or 10 most expensive dental procedures?

    thanks!

   Thanks pro. I do what I can to help! :D

I can list the top 5 because if I list more, there aren't too many differences in the prices anyway. :D

    1. Dental Implants

    2. Orthodontic treatment

    3. Complete fixed dentures

    4. Complete removeable dentures

    5. Fixed bridges, depending on the number of teeth involved

I hope this satisfies your curiosity! :D

  11. Doc oralspecialist,

My son (going to be 3 yrs old) has a cavity in his molar teeth... I tried sending him to a dentist but he can not tolerate the opening his mouth too long... What would you recommend....

If you mean by not tolerating he gets tired easily, then the dentist can place a simple piece of rubber called a mouth prop to keep the mouth open. If he has difficulty with the taste or is uncomfortable, perhaps a children's sedative will prove effective. :D

Thanks doc for your immediate reply... a piece of rubber was also used but to no avail... i think a children's sedative was also the advice by the dentist(which she can't do)... do you perform this kind of treatment doc?

I don't do sedation on children but I can refer you to a children's dentist or pedodontist. Just pm me your location or the most convenient landmark ner your place and I'll see who I can refer. :D

kasi you have your local lan server IP (192.168.1.116) and your ISP provided IP (203.76.196.31)

nakapagtataka lang bakit merong route na 202.81.160.116 tapos nasa first priority pa sya (metric 1)

kung accidentally nailagay ito bro, can u just remove that? At command prompt, type ROUTE DELETE 202.81.160.116

pwede lang ako weekends or kung gabi after office hours

Oo ba! :D :D :D Thanks so much dude!

  13. pare, you don't really need a router as long as your OS support internet sharing..like win2k server, win98 SE, and even win XP (not sure)...sayang naman yung router mo naka-LAN ka lang naman eh...siguro if your planning to go to WAN... B)

I might as well use it 'di ba? :D Anong oras k dating mamya? :D :D

  14. Doc oralspecialist,

  15. doc, you can ping the server from the workstation, but the server cant ping the workstation? sure ba to? parang sa routing table na ng server mo ang me problem ah...

if it is not very sensitive naman, could you please issue this command at the DOS prompt of your server:

    Route Print>C:\route.txt

and then copy and paste the contents of c:\route.txt here?

it since your server seems to have problems too.

    1. Do you use your XPserver just to share internet connection?

    2. Did you use any other 3rd party programs for sharing your connection? (e.g. wingate, winproxy, lanshare, etc)

    3. Do you have router in your network? (e.g linsys print server/router)

Worse comes to worse, we may need to reconfigure your whole network to eliminate the problem and for easy adding of new hosts (workstations)

i will be monitoring this thread.

    br.

    da'Klesse

By all means. Here you go...

  17. pardonme,

Nope, I'm not using advanced server. I'm just using XP Pro. I'm using the same user and password in all of the computers but the new computer can't "see" the shares nor the other computers but it can access the Internet through the server.

    bmikey69,

I tried to use a new network card as well but still no luck. :(

    mikibijon,

Subkan ko yun. Medyo matrabaho nga lang pero kailangan e. :wizard:

I did a workaround so I could transfer files from the new computer to the others. I set up a simple FTP server on the new computer and accessed the files by typing its ip address in a web browser. This allowed me to access the files in the new computer. using Windows explorer. I wish I didn't have to do that tho. :D

  18. Doc, i see your problem.

There is no problem with the connection since you can surf using the proxy server from your XP server.

Nope. No problem there. I actively surf using the new computer.

Since you entered a specific IP address, can you doublecheck the ip address you enetered? Is it with the same netmask as your network? Here are possible things that occured.

example: your network may have the following ip table:  192.168.1.1 ~ 255 with netmask 255.255.255.0

and you accidentally entered a valid IP address but different netmask (probably something like 255.255.225.0)

Checked it. It's the same. :(

You can try to ping the Server via its IP address and its UNC (universal Naming Convention) address.

    Example:

    1. Ping 192.168.0.1  (Considering thats your server's IP ADD) There must be a ping reply

    2. Ping XPSERVER (considering the computer name is XPSERVER) There must be a ping reply

Ping works perfectly from the new computer to the server but I get a time out when I ping from the server to the computer. :(

You can also try to ping the ip addres of the computer you are trying to access a share from. If you can successfully ping the computer but you cannot access it using UNC, then something might be wrong with your NETBIOS or the DNS server feature of your XP server is not okay.

What could be wrong with NETBIOS? How do I fix it?

Try also to check if you accidentally added more than one TCP/IP protocol for one LAN Card, if so, delete them both and add a new TCP/IP protocol.

    Just one protocol. Hmm...

You might also have some firewalls enabled in your computer that hijacks or blocks request from other computers. Try to disable them first and check if they are interferring.

Ok, just tried it. No luck.

There are a lot of things that migh have gone wrong, it would be better if you can try those steps first...or you can also try to uninstall and install your LAN card.

Tried installing and uninstalling to no avail...

You can also try to check, maybe your computer is running on 10BaseT and your network is on 100BaseT or the opposite.

    Nope. Running full speed ahead...

Dont forget to check if you have conflicted IP address in your network.

No conflicts either. And NETBEUI isn't installed in any of the computers..

  19. I tried rebooting. Both the server and the new computer. the server detects the new onethrough a search and by browsing the workgroup. I can't browse or search for other computers with the new computer tho. I don't get it...

  20. My OS for all the computers including the server is WinXP. I don't have a clue what Active Directory is all about but I'll try rebooting the server. I hope this works... Thanks hubs! :D

  21. Actually I can surf the internet with the new computer using proxy software in the server but I can't access the shares in the other computers. In other words, the new computer has access to the network. Just not the workgroup. the name of the workgroup is the same for all of the computers and I can search for the new computer from another one already in the network. It just isn't accessible both ways. Something about permissions but it's strange since I already assigned passwords and I have fewer than 10 users.

  22. I just connected another computer to our network and I assigned an IP address to it already but it can't see shares across the network nor find computers in the workgroup. It worked with the network before. I'm using XP Pro in all of them. Please help!
