    CentOS is discontinued already. Rocky Linux is the closest to Red Hat now.

    If you don’t want to shut down, just use hibernate. Same power draw as shutdown.

    Acer Aspire E5‑571 with i3‑5005U, 12 GB RAM, 1 TB SSD and $6 eGPU mod. Old and slow but at least I don’t have to worry about breaking it.
