As for LBJ, I think the hype is befitting for a guy who, regardless of what you think of the East, led his team even if he is 22 years old. Yes, there are a few chinks in his armor. But man, we are talking about someone who should just be a rookie!!!
He is not yet the King, I agree. However, there are far worse people you can label the King. Remember, people used to call Glenn Robinson the "Big Dog". Early on, I already knew he won't be anything more than a glorified puppy despite what the stat sheets would show. Do you want me to get started on the fact that people proclaimed Allan Houston "THE BEST SHOOTING GUARD IN THE LEAGUE" even if Reggie Miller and Ray Allen were in the NBA? Injury notwithstanding, that guy was a borderline All Star.
So, King James at least resembles someone who is close to rule the NBA as early as next season. Too early but not too early.
You want another overrated player from the NBA? See Cuttino Mobley. How he gets to have really good contracts is beyond me.
