muttley
[/size]Laff a Lympics? I believe that was Wacky Races. It was shown in the late 70s, around 4 or 5 pm. Laff-A-Lympics parang celebrity olympic games. Yung team ni Scooby Doo are the Scooby Doobies. Yung team ni Yogi Bear are the Yogi Yahooeys. Tapos yung mga villains The Really Rottens (me and Dastardly had look-a-likes there, Mumbly and Dread Baron).http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1dwv5rXgn1qh3yw5o1_500.jpg Quote Link to comment
maxiev
Thank you. (snicker-snicker-snicker) "Wacky Races" was shown on RPN-9 and "Scooby Doo" on BBC-2. I think the one you're talking about that was aired on GMA-7 was "Laff-A-Lympics". After "Wacky Races", me and my master Dick Dastardly had our own spin-off series "Dastardly & Muttley" where we always go after this stupid carrier pigeon. The Anthill Mob and Penelope Pitstop had their own spin-off series too - "The Perils of Penelope Pitstop" (the villain was The Hooded Claw, voiced by Paul Lynde) and was shown on IBC-13.Here's one of those Wacky Races episodes. It's like going back in time for me....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ygdOf3dyPI Quote Link to comment

Anaheim
I remember Ralph Macchio (the original Karate Kid) who guested in Eight is Enough, from then on he starred in The Outsiders directed by Francis Ford Coppola then the Karate Kid films. I also remember Leif Garrett who was a teen heart-throb in the late 1970s, he also starred in The Outsiders whose character was killed early on. Anaheim
They also had Gulliver's Travels and my all time favorite Wait till Your Father Gets Home. The father's voice in 'Wait till your father gets home' was so iconic in the guise of Tom Bosley....he then went on as Howard Cunningham, father of Richie Cunningham (Ron Howard) in HAPPY DAYS. Ron Howard went on to become one of Hollywood's top directors Quote Link to comment

oscartamaguchiblackface
One of the hit tv game shows in the 70's was Pepe Pimentel's Kwarta o Kahon. Contestants would be asked to choose between a certain amount of cash and the contents of a box which were unknow to him/her. Quote Link to comment

Names of entertainers that come to mind when talking about the 70's include John Travolta (Saturday Night Fever), Sissy Spacek (Carrie), The Bee Gees (Barry Gibb, Andy Gibb), Mel Brooks and Gene Wilder (Young Frankensein), Charlton Heston (Solyent Green), Robbie Benson (One on One), Marlon Brando (Apocalypse Now/The Godfather) , Robert DeNiro (The Deer Hunter/The Godfather), Linda Blair (The Exorcist), Gene Hackman (The French Connection), Richard Dreyfuss (Jaws and Close Encounters of the Third Kind), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Al Pacino (The Godfather/Dog Day Afternoon) 1 Quote Link to comment
oscartamaguchiblackface
One of the cars that defined this decade was the old Toyota Corona and Corolla. Yeah. But there were other brands as well that were common during this era. I learned to drive in a Dodge Colt, the forerunner of the Misubishi Galant. Also common back then were Ford Cortinas and Escorts, Mercedes Benz cars, Toranas, Volkswagen Beetles and Brazilias, Isuzu Bellets, Geminis, Mitsubishi Lancers, Toyota Celicas, etc. Mostly cars with only 4 cylinders with engine displacements of 1600 cc or below. I actually got to see Jack Lord, James MacArthur and the other cast members shooting an episode at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in 1978. Was lucky enough to get this close to snap his picture. Crowds were trying to get close and police and security were trying to create a "cordon sanitaire" for the crew. I happened to be behind the police and the guards who didn't notice me. He he he... 3 Quote Link to comment
sonnyt111
Hawaii Five-0 was one of my staple tv shows as a kid. I think this was on Channel 9. My memory is muddled so correct me if I'm wrong.Bro I think I'm older than you but I also don't remember which channel aired this program. Perhaps Bro Muttley remembers. I now have the complete dvd collection and have even identified the exact episode that I saw being filmed. I remember the scenes and how Jack Lord, James MacArthur and another actor (can't remember his name) kept on repeating the sequence over and over again until the director was finally satisfied with the take. Imagine just to film a 20 second scene stretched over 15 minutes! I even stood beside Jack Lord. Man the guy was tall. Probably 6'2 with high heeled shoes. Yeah he was wearing high heels to make him look taller I'm about 5'8 with shoes on and he was standing a head taller than me. Seemed like a nice guy. He even bowed to the crowd to acknowledge their clapping after the 20 second scene was finally approved by the director. Quote Link to comment
