sally bogna mathay
Hello mga Pareng SBM, Bods and JT. To gonefishing, toobz, mandrake, acl and the rest of the fellow posters, kailan tayo pwedeng mag-eb? During those times and I think even up to now, the generals rule the game. Touche! EB next week perhaps? Yes, the generals still rule today. On another matter, the Games of the Generals was invented by Ronnie Pasola. It was very popular in the 70s and quite exciting at that. gonefishing
Cge bro. Text text lang. My friends then said that Games of the Generals was based on Stratigo (whatever). General din si Hans Menzi. Games of the General was very popular during those days and a very exciting game to play. Until somebody found out that you can win easily the game if you put some marker on the "Flag" of your opponnet. The excitement disappeared after that. I learned the military ranking from this game. It would be very interesting if somebody develops a computer game similar to the Games of the General. Quote Link to comment
jt2003
One problem with the Game of the Generals was that it required an arbiter. So it was always a game of at least three people. My favorite piece was the Spy. The Spy could k*ll just about anyone. There were some exceptions, but I can no longer recall. Another game was Threat, where you could destroy a nation with an atom bomb if you had the card for it. Napaka-violent, no? Better pa yung enduring games such as Monopoly and Scrabble. The nice thing about board games is that you have to play with another person, not with a computer. That sort of enhances relationships in the family or among friends. Pumasok bigla sa isip ko sina Dovey Beams, Gina Lolobrigida (I'm not sure sa spelling), Rosemarie, Aurora Pijuan, etc. Gina Lollobrigida was in the news last year for marrying a man who was at least 40 years her junior. May asim pa rin. The last thing I read about Dovey Beams is that she's fallen on hard times. Her old house in Beverly Hills was auctioned off as part of bankruptcy proceedings against her. Rosemarie is here in the US, I think. Quote Link to comment

Mandrake
Rosemarie is here in the US, I think. I remember having hired a "manong" driver to bring me to Baguio. And along the way, he recalled how in his younger years, he used to drive for a big-time politician ( a Marcos "tuta") who had this rest house up in Zambales in the late 60s and 70s. Upon the instructions of his boss, he would discreetly pick up Ms. R.S. and drive her all the way to the rest house for a week-end rendezvous with Apo Ferdie. Quote Link to comment

Kumusta, pare? hope to see you in the EB being planned by Storm. Others in the list should include Franco (Spain), Suharto (Indonesia), Trujillo (Dominican Republic). Notice that South America has gone full circle? In the 70s, it was ruled by leftists before they were all overthrown by rightists (e.g Allended/Pinochet in Chile). Today, most of Latin America is governed by left of center politicians (Chavez in Venezuela, Lula in Brazil, Bachelet in Chile, Morales in Bolivia, to name a few). They will inherit the soon-to-be-vacated throne of El Commandante in Cuba. Byt the way, those are nice pix of the 60s, although some have been previously posted. Quote Link to comment

How those America love to hate: Khadaffi - Still crazy after all these years. Billy Joel's song apply to this guy. Reagan tried to k*ll him but in vain. El Komandante - Fidel Castro of the infamous missile crisis Arafat is gone, hero or terrorist depending on which side you are on (Arab or Israel) and so is our recent villain Saddam. At the east side of the Berlin wall we have President Nicolai Caucescu of Romania and Erich Honecker of East Germany. Quote Link to comment
