another smile on my face :)

We were in for a heavy, drama-filled early morning meeting with bosses this morning. As i sat waiting for the others to arrive, two tiny heads peeked into the room.....and i realized that that the heads were owned by two 3- or 4-year-old pediatric cancer patients....and the heads were connected to tiny hands with IV lines in them.

Pasok ka dali. Malamig dyan....(first kid)

Yoko nga, may tao.....(second kid)

Dali na....(first kid)

I smiled. I opened the door wide enough, and decided to coach them into some "intelligent" talk.

Me: oist, ano yang nasa kamay mo

1st kid: *stared blankly

Me: bakit ka may swero

1st kid: natanggalan ako ng atay *smiles, then proceeds to show me a surgical scar as proof (i smiled silently in horror)

2nd kid: oo nga. natanggalan sha ng atay *grins

2nd kid: ako may leukemia!! *in a tone reminiscent of kids eagerly shouting answers during recitation

Me: talaga? sino may sabi sayo na leukemia?

2nd kid: basta *grins again

i smiled again, and joked with them for a while, then went inside.....

blessings. they come in so many forms.

and to think i've never been kid-friendly in my whole life.
