fire_and_ice_girl
I just finished The Carlton Club. One of the protagonists is a doctor who's the best in his field but hates his job because it was something that was just pushed to him by his father. Yet he does is well because he should always be the best... I'm re-reading Beaches. A very nice novel about friendship and dreams... Quote Link to comment

bruno frankelli
Currently halfway through Salman Rushdie's Satanic Verses. Try reading this in public and you get really nasty looks from people, especially nuns and old women. Thankfully, la pa naman akong naencounter na Muslim. Quote Link to comment
Shizuka
Satanic Verses. I could only imagine the reaction. Wages of Fame by Thomas Fleming. A historical, political novel about democracy in America in the 1820s up to the start of the civil war. Good for passing time. Gets to know some historical figures too. Quote Link to comment
bruno frankelli
Satanic Verses. I could only imagine the reaction. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But it's a very luscious, allegorical, thick, sprawling, juicy book. I can imagine why muslims would be offended by it to the point of declaring a fatwa against Rushdie. Quote Link to comment
