Larry
WAR GSP! i was kinda on the fence before with this fight, GSP is a beast, an genetic anomaly, capable of unspeakable things once he gets going. BJ on the other hand is a phenom on his own, doesn't really train seriously but somehow comes up with the win every time, he's just raw natural talent. but after watching the first two installments of UFC Primetime, I'm gonna have to go with GSP on this one. I'm such a mass media puppet. Quote Link to comment

riceb0i
WAR PENN! mwehehehe GSP is a big 170 pounder though, but he had to cut weight for the fight and BJ didn't have to cut for the fight, basing it on BJ's gas tank i'd assume he can go all 5 rounds with GSP... here goes the MMA math again... i chose PENN to win because he has a reputation for finishing fights either by KO or a sub and a better chin than GSP as the TKO finish i saw BJ in was in that 2nd fight with Matt Hughes a TKO on the 3rd (that was the time when BJ was known for gassing out) but after he rededicated his life to fighting he's back to the old Prodigy form. back to back sub wins against Jens Pulver and Joe Stevenson and then a TKO on the 3rd on Sean Sherk, i'm hoping for another TKO win against GSP although if the fight goes to the score cards i'd bet GSP wins with another close split decision... BTW Kim will make Karo cry like a bitch again Lyoto will win with another decision winBonnar with all the octagon rust will eke out a TKO win against Jones in the 3rdDiaz wins via sub in the 1st against Guida (although if it goes to the cards Guida wins via split)Gono will surprise Fitch with a UDGamburyan will win against Tavares (Manny badly needs that win) the other three fights i'm not sure to call Quote Link to comment

Larry
RIP Helio Gracie Helio Gracie, the father of Gracie jiu-jitsu, is dead at the age of 95. Gracie passed in his sleep early Thursday in Itaipaiva, Rio de Janeiro, after he had been admitted to a local hospital a few days prior for stomach problems. “He passed the way he always wanted to –- quick and fast,” said an immediate relative, who asked not to be identified. The relative said Gracie’s body would be buried on Thursday. The youngest of Cesalina and Gastao Gracie’s eight children, he learned traditional jiu-jitsu by watching his brother, Carlos, teach it, but his small frame made it difficult for him to execute the moves. As a result, he adapted techniques to fit his limited physical ability and gave rise to modern-day Brazilian jiu-jitsu. ... His impact on the sport of mixed martial arts was profound. His son, Rorion, was credited with developing the concept that became the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and another of his sons, Royce, won the first two UFC tournaments in 1993 and 1994. Two other sons, Rickson and Royler, also competed in MMA. from Sherdog.com Quote Link to comment

textickles
Phillipe Nover vs Kyle Bradley UFC 98 fight possible The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 lightweight finalist, Phillipe Nover (5-1-1), will return to the Octagon for an encore performance against Kyle Bradley (13-6) at UFC 98 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on May 23, according to AroundTheOctagon.com. Nover — who drew lofty (and perhaps unfair) comparisons to UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva while on the show — will be out to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Efrain Escudero in TUF 8 Finale just last month. It was a disappointing defeat for the Filipino balut-eating nurse from Brooklyn, N.Y., who finished all three of his opponents while on the show in short order. He ran through Joe Duarte, David Kaplan and George Roop to earn his spot in the finals. However, Nover just had no answers for the outstanding wrestling skills of Escudero. He’ll likely be out to prove that he is indeed the real deal … and he’ll get to do it against a fighter who is winless (0-2) inside the Octagon. Bradley has been stopped twice in his first two performances for the promotion. Joe Lauzon most recently pounded him out with strikes in their lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 15 in September 2008. He had “J-Lau” hurt early in the bout, but could not put him away. He eventually paid the price for his inability to finish the scrappy veteran. In his inaugural performance, Bradley took a fight against Chris Lytle at UFC 81: “Breaking Point” on short notice in a division above his normal weight class. It didn’t go too well. “Lights Out” had Bradley so punch drunk that when the referee, Yves Lavigne, stopped the fight Bradley continued on and was defending Lavigne from full guard. The Team Voodoo knockout specialist will have to be on the giving end of the punishment against Nover, otherwise he may have a hard time convincing company officials that he is a UFC caliber fighter. UFC 98 features the final round of the mini heavyweight tournament between Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir in the main event of the evening. The rest of the card is shaping up nicely, showcasing the grudge match between welterweight enemies and former champions, Matt Hughes and Matt Serra, as well as an important lightweight clash between Sean Sherk and Frank Edgar.
