The 32nd Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) — the country's longest-running firearms and sporting-arms trade show, organised by the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines (AFAD) — is running now through Sunday, July 26 at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay. The show opened Wednesday, July 22 with Senate President Pro Tempore Migz Zubiri leading the ceremonies, and the exhibitor floor carries the full weight of the country's legitimate firearms trade: Armscor, Squires Bingham, Metro Arms, P.B. Dionisio, Jordan Guns & Ammo, Imperial Guns, Shooters, Top Spot, Vulkan Armory, and the rest of the AFAD dealer roster, alongside seminars on firearms law, marksmanship development, and the responsible-ownership framework that has been the show's official mandate for three decades. If you hold an LTOPF — or you're an enthusiast working toward one the legal way — this weekend is the year's main event.

Show-floor pricing on firearms, ammunition, optics, holsters, safes, and range gear is traditionally the year's most competitive.

Seminars and live sessions — the 32nd edition's official slate covers firearm-safety education, marksmanship and sports-shooting development, legal updates on the firearms regulatory framework, and responsible-ownership sessions. Schedule at the show floor daily.

Product launches — the July SMX edition is the traditional launch window for new-model introductions into the Philippine market.

The women-in-security track — AFAD's official mandate for the show explicitly includes empowering women in security and self-defense through proper and legal firearms use; the modern DSAS editions carry dedicated sessions on this track.

The Legal Frame — Read Before You Buy

DSAS is a legitimate, regulated trade event, and purchases on the floor run through the full legal framework:

• LTOPF (License to Own and Possess Firearms) — the PNP-issued license is the legal prerequisite for any firearm purchase. Dealers on the floor process paperwork against valid LTOPFs; no license, no purchase.
• Registration — firearms purchased at the show are registered through the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) process as with any dealer transaction.
• Ammunition and accessories — regulated items follow the same license-gated rules on the floor.
• First-timers — if you're LTOPF-curious rather than LTOPF-holding, the show's seminar track and dealer booths are the country's best single-roof orientation on the legal pathway. Go, ask, learn — the responsible-ownership mandate is the show's official reason for existing.

Getting There

SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay — seaside of the MOA complex, adjacent to the SM Mall of Asia main mall.

• By car — MOA complex parking (SMX carpark, MOA main carparks); weekend volumes peak after lunch. Morning arrival strongly recommended for Saturday-Sunday.
• By rail + shuttle — MRT-3/LRT-1 EDSA-Taft interchange + the MOA shuttle loop.
• P2P — multiple point-to-point routes serve the MOA complex from Makati, BGC, Ortigas, and Quezon City.

Make a day of it — the MOA complex surrounds the venue: SM Mall of Asia for dining and the bay-side esplanade after the show floor.

The November Question

DSAS has historically run two editions across the year — the mid-year show and a year-end edition (the Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall run in the show's traditional calendar). The year-end 2026 edition's dates have not yet been officially announced — this thread will be updated the moment AFAD publishes them. Watch this space.

Always wanted to own a licensed firearm for home defense but don’t have any experience with guns. Is this event a great way for beginners to familiarize themselves with firearms and perhaps purchase one?

Go to a respectablengun store with a a range.  Give intention to buy from them and ask them for lessons.  For sure they have instructors.  PB Dionisio, Stronghand, Jethro Dionisio are the popular ones.  They will assist in acquiring lic also.

kung interesado ko sa pagkuha ng LTOPF para makabili ng baril pero hindi ka makapunta sa PNP caravan, maari ka naman pumunta sa Camp Crame FEO One Stop Shop para mag apply  ng LTOPF.  Step by step procedures, PNP clearance, Neuro + Drug test, gun handling seminar etc.  nandun na lahat.  Kailangan mo 6 to 8 hours para ma kumpleto mo ang proseso.

Ltopf muna lagi. And part of that is neuro psychometric test. To really see if you're suited to own one. If you fail, kung sakali man, look at it that maybe it's for your own good.. and others too. Meron nmn sa mga DSAS events, all in one caravan.
