Quinzaine

The English word quinzaine come from the French word qunize, meaning fifteen. A quinzaine is an unrhymed verse of fifteen syllables.

These syllables are distributed among three lines so that there are seven syllables in the first line, five in the second line and three in the third line (7/5/3). The first line makes a statement. The next two lines ask a question relating to that statement.

Untimely ending, one thinks.

Is it an ending?

Does one think?

Though she is much beholden

Does she feel abashed?

Is she blessed?

Bounds of possibility

Is it possible?

Is it bound?

I have known love without it knowing me

06/01/2017

I have known love

Without giving it

But in my secret hopes

Alive inside I kept it

A whisper to its own ear

A kiss to its own lips

A heart to its own beat

A need to its own want

Ah, I have loved and not loved

Book Lover

06/11/2017

Neither the tawdry lights of a brothel

Nor the brazen wares of a sex shop

Can set my lust to racing fire

My feet quick, heavy with desire

But only the gentle come hither

Of a coquette bookstore

There they are arrayed in all ages

Their backs turned to me

Tall and petite, svelte and Rubenesque

Different names, same pleasures

In this house of sunken treasures

Sometimes I feel jealous

Seeing signs all over her

The footprints of strangers’ hands

But it doesn’t really matter now

If she was used or loved

I pay not for a love inviolate

But for the bliss she will give

When I spread her pages apart

And bury myself, surrendering

Caged Rose

06/26/2017

The sad, moribund flower in the glass cage

Engenders in him the unvoiced fear, the silent rage

For he knows he will eternal be to a beast confined

If he cannot love himself and repay love in kind

And though only sadness sweeps today the royal halls

He cannot lose hope until the last teary petal falls

Surely some maiden at last will hear the cry

And dare give life to a man waiting, waiting to die

*Note: If you haven't guessed it by now, the poem takes inspiration from the latest live-action adaptation of the movie Beauty and the Beast. It was Lumiere, the funny, French-accented talking candelabra, who inspired me. After all, he's the one who did not lose hope until the end and was not afraid of The Beast.

  • 2 weeks later...

Wrote this 20+ years ago...

Sounds silly...

In the heavens very high

And below the sea so deep

My heart cries out a deep sigh

As this feeling goes to sleep

This feeling of love for you

Ever since cool December

Once so real and very true

Now but a dying ember

I will always love you so

And that i will always know

So, another lonely day for me.

So let me post another bs poem i wrote 20+ years ago.

Hahaha. Parang proud pa na sabihin na "i worte it".

Your eyes still have that same glow,

Glow that lights the whole heavens.

Like sun, warms the earth below,

Makes my heart feels like heaven.

Your smile still forever gay,

As gay as this sweet bird sings.

Drives all my problems away

And good tidings your smile brings.

Past memories still lingers,

Still there is my love for you

Sight of you always triggers

My heart to cry "i love you"

You did not change as i know

Neither did your answer... "no"

After typing this, i felt embarass. Haha. Do i post it? Since ive already typed this on my phone... might as well.

Enjoy cringing. Hahaha
