Don't believe everything and anything that you watch on TV, read on the papers and hear about on radio - they no longer bring the news, they MAKE the news. It's amazing how the madlang pipol still buy those crap like the "rated PG" disclaimer by MTRCB that comes on at the start of your favorite telenobelas or shows. I mean, pano mapapatnubayan ng magulang ang mga batang nakakapanood kung ang mga nakatatanda mismo tinatangkilik din yung palabas na merong tema na hindi angkop para sa mga batang manonood in the first place? Severe lack of common sense is what most pinoys need to really work on - the ability to question and think first. Mango Man Posted January 12, 2015 Share Posted January 12, 2015 in general, popular media (whether social, print, etc.) influences not only what people see or read, but also the point of view / angle that they use to present information shapes how we react to events. So we have to be careful of biases (check who are the owners of the media outlets), and more important but difficult, we should not swallow everything we see or read hook line and sinker, but be critical in our thinking. 1 Quote Link to comment

Example - Do you think they added a high % of devotees sa Feast of Black Nazarene ng Quiapo because of their coverage. What the masses interpret on what they see. At pupusta ako, sa mga nanalo ng 1 million, karamihan sa kanila naghihirap pa din hangang ngayon. Ang mga telenobela naman, escapist fantasy binebenta. Na one day ang manliligaw nila singpogi ni Jehrico Rosales. At madidiskubre na anak sila ng isang mayaman. Hay. Sa kabilang banda, sobrang powerful ng media, kaya naman ito ielevate ang taste ng masa. Bakit naman noon, ang dami nating matatalinong programa. Abangan susunod na Kabanata. Kapag May Katwiran ipaglaban mo. Agrisiete. Negosyete. Sineskwela. Nakakaapreciate din naman ang pinoy noon ng english programming. Bakit ngayon kahit yung english programs tinatagalize na. Kaya bumababa English proficiency natin eh. Nung kabataan ko din, ang mga noontime shows minsan dyan nagiging battleground ng mga spelling contest sa elementary at highschool. Remember during the 90s, we had Richard Gomez, Cesar Montano, The Guwapings, Anjanette Abayari, as the decade's standards for beauty. The 90s was when the Pinoy/Pinay look reigned and people gravitated towards this aesthetic. Enter the new millenium and the advent of Taiwanese pop stars F4, meteor garden and the eventual entry of koreanovelas, and now the preferred standards of beauty has changed from moreno/morena to chinito.
