Eclipse:

Summit has moved to slot its third film in the "Twilight" series for June 30, 2010. Like other released and planned installments, "Eclipse" is based on a vampire-romance book popular with teens. Summit has scheduled a second "Twilight" pic, "New Moon," for release Nov. 20.

Little Fockers:

John Hamburg has come aboard to rewrite Larry Stuckey's screenplay for "Little Fockers", the third film in the "Meet the Parents" comedy series. Jay Roach, who directed the first two films in the series, will not be directing this project so producers are already in talks with the likes of Paul Weitz ("In Good Company," "About a Boy"") and Peyton Reed ("Yes Man," "Bring It On") to helm. Universal and Tribeca Productions are said to have this project on the fast track with Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro and Owen Wilson in talks to reprise their roles.

The Losers:

"Watchmen," "Grey's Anatomy" and "Supernatural" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan is in negotiations to board the comic book adaptation "The Losers" for Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures reports the trades. The Losers regroup in the interest of revenge and the opportunity to remove their names from a secret CIA death list and to conduct covert operations against the CIA and its interests. Morgan would play Clay, the group's leader, whose signature look favors black suits without ties. Morgan is also shooting the Hammer Films thriller "The Resident" with Hilary Swank around the same time so schedules are currently being worked out.

Dead Spy Running:

"Traffic" scribe Stephen Gaghan will pen the adaptation of Jon Stock's espionage novel "Dead Spy Running" for Warner Bros. Pictures. The story is the first in a trilogy and aims to reinvent the spy genre by telling the origin story of a newly trained spy which mixes Robert Ludlum's grittiness with John Le Carre's wit. McG is attached to direct the project which kicks off with the protagonist running the London Marathon, where a fellow racer is strapped with explosives. The scenario leads to a globe-trotting adventure to clear the name of the man's father. McG, who would direct at least the first installment, is producing with Jeanne Allgood.

Terminator Salvation:

Though its been rumored for a while now, actress Linda Hamilton has confirmed she's in talks to reprise her legendary Sarah Connor role for "Terminator Salvation".

"We are talking. I haven't read it yet. I don't know what direction they will go in" Hamilton told MTV News, though confirms that whatever the case she won't appear on screen.

"My contribution would be voiceover. I would probably be very happy to loan my voice depending on what the material is. Wait and see. They're already writing it. We've been negotiating it" she says.

The 4th Kind:

Milla Jovovich is jumping back into horror genre once again with Gold Circle Films' forthcoming The 4th Kind, which is a fact-based thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up not unlike the claims directed at the circumstances surrounding the infamous Area 51.

Five Killers:

Katherine Heigl will team with Ashton Kutcher in the Lionsgate thriller "Five Killers". The story kicks off when a woman meets the man of her dreams while on vacation. Married bliss is turned upside down when they discover that their neighbors may be assassins hired to k*ll them. Robert Luketic ("The Ugly Truth," "Legally Blonde," "Monster-in-Law") directs the film which begins shooting next month in Atlanta and the south of France. Scott Aversano and Jason Goldberg will produce.

Breathers: A Zombie's Lament

Meet Andy Warner, a recently deceased everyman and newly minted zombie. Resented by his parents, abandoned by his friends, and reviled by a society that no longer considers him human, Andy is having a bit of trouble adjusting to his new existence. But all that changes when he goes to an Undead Anonymous meeting and finds kindred souls in Rita, an impossibly sexy recent suicide with a taste for the formaldehyde in cosmetic products, and Jerry, a twenty-one-year-old car-crash victim with an exposed brain and a penchant for Renaissance pornography. When the group meets a rogue zombie who teaches them the joys of human flesh, things start to get messy, and Andy embarks on a journey of self-discovery that will take him from his casket to the SPCA to a media-driven class-action lawsuit on behalf of the rights of zombies everywhere.

Marvel news:

Marvel has announced Jackson has just inked a nine-picture deal with the superhero based studio to appear as Nick Fury, agent of spy outfit S.H.I.E.L.D. Jackson was seen in a brief scene following the credits of Iron Man as Fury, but was supposedly on the outs with Marvel after reportedly being offered a minuscule sum to reprise the role of Fury in upcoming Marvel films.

The films Jackson will apparently be featured in include Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Avengers and any subsequent sequels. Apparently Marvel is also already working on a S.H.I.E.L.D. based feature, which would also call for Jackson’s appearance.

Robin Hood:

Cate Blanchett will play Maid Marian alongside Russell Crowe's Robin Hood in the Ridley Scott-directed adventure pic for Universal Pictures. Russell Crowe plays Robin of Loxley in an origin story of Robin Hood that hews close to historical facts of the period. Abandoned as a child, he finds community with the common people of Nottingham. Robin’s abandonment and trust issues hamper his ability to fall in love. He meets his match in Marian, a strong, independent woman.

The NeverEnding Story (remake):

Warner Bros. and a pair of top-tier production banners are in the early stages of a reboot of the 1980s children's fantasy classic, reports the trades. The Kennedy/Marshall Co. ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button") and Leonard DiCaprio's shingle Appian Way are in discussions with Warners about reviving the 25-year-old franchise with a modern spin. The studio recently acquired rights to the property, clearing the way for a potential remake.

Born out of a German-language novel by Michael Ende, the film centers on a boy named Bastian Balthazar Bux who discovers a parallel world in a book titled "The NeverEnding Story." As the boy, a loner, delves deeper into the book, he increasingly finds his life intertwined with the plot of the novel, in which a hero in the land of Fantasia must save the universe on behalf of an empress. The new pic -- which original producer Dieter Geissler also will produce and Sarah Schechter and Jesse Ehrman will oversee for Warners -- will examine the more nuanced details of the book that were glossed over in the first pic.

Suicide Squad:

Warner Bros. is going on a suicide mission, setting up the DC Comics property "Suicide Squad" for Dan Lin ("Sherlock Holmes") to produce as a potential franchise, reports the trades. According to the trades this is going to be a departure from normal comic-based fare, "Suicide Squad" concentrates on a group of incarcerated supervillains rather than the usual focus on superheroes. The first version of the squad debuted in a 1959 DC Comic, and a series was launched in 1987. Stephen Gilchrist from Lin Pictures will co-produce. Justin Marks ("20,000 Leagues Under the Sea," "Hack/Slash," "Street Fighter") is penning the screenplay.

Green Lantern:

With the news that Green Lantern has a director and a release date finally set, it makes sense that talk would go to casting, and seeing who would take up the power ring of the cosmic superhero. Anton Yelchin may be in the running for the role.

Apparently the role has already been considered and rejected for nearly every male actor under thirty in Hollywood, with Ryan Gosling and Emile Hirsch both passing on the part. Yelchin is a hot property right now, with the actor at the centre of two of this summer's big blockbusters: He's playing the young Chekov in Star Trek and the young Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse

In Twilight’s saga Eclipse, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger as Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob — knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death.

Monster's Inc 2:

It appears that Pete Docter has settled on his next directing gig and the film project is a familiar one. While he likely won't be talking about it until his press junkets are through for "Up," the feature that he'll be working on(and has been for a while) is the sequel to "Monster's Inc." with tentative plans for it being Pixar's 2013 release.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

Michael Petroni has been tapped to write the next installment in "The Chronicles of Narnia" franchise. Petroni will write "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" for Walden Media and Fox 2000. He will take over for Richard LaGravanese, who penned the most recent draft of the C.S. Lewis novel. Walden is eyeing a summer start date for a holiday 2010 release through the Fox Walden label.

Friday the 13th 2:

New Line and Platinum Dunes are moving ahead with a sequel to the recent remake of "Friday the 13th". More a follow-up than a direct sequel, Jason Voorhees will be the villain but an all new cast of cannon fodder is expected. The reboot's writers, Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, recently began work on the script.

The last film used elements from the first four films in the original franchise, whereas this won't be doing any such homages to the other four sequels in the original series. Though Marcus Nispel may return to the director's chair, it's expected someone else will be hired to direct. Platinum Dunes and New Line are presently more fixed on their planned reboot of the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise.

Pontypool:

At a radio station in Pontypool one day, the morning team starts taking reports of extreme, bloody incidents of violence occurring in town. As the story unfolds, the radio staff soon realizes the violence that is ripping society apart is due to a virus being spread through the English language. That in turn poses a problem for a yappy radio jock and his staff holed up in the broadcast booth housed in the basement of the town's abandoned church as a slaughter rages beyond its walls.

Exclusive: King of Fighters details revealed

Tuesday, December 02, 2008

The MovieSet Blog has learned details about the latest video game to be turned into a movie and no, Uwe Boll is nowhere near this project’s set (hey, speaking of Mr. Boll whatever happened to the release of Far Cry?) The film is called King of Fighters and is based on the SNK Playmore arcade fighting game that debuted in 1994 and has spawned 11 sequels and 13 — yeah, you read that right — 13 spinoff games. By comparison, Capcom’s Street Fighter and Midway’s Mortal Kombat brawler franchises are still in the single digits with their sequels.

Learn all the cast, crew and story details after the jump, player!

The King of Fighters movie quietly began filming in Vancouver, Canada on November 27 under the eye of director Gordon Chan, the dynamic Hong Kong-born helmer of Fist of Legend, Beast Cop and the 2003 Jackie Chan movie The Medallion. The screenplay is by newcomer Rita Augustine.

The movie stars Maggie Q (Live Free and Die Hard), Sean Faris (Never Back Down), Will Yun Lee (Elektra), Francoise Yip (Aliens vs. Predator - Requiem), Monique Ganderton (Supernatural) and the coolest Sith Lord ever, Ray Park (a.k.a. Darth Maul from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace). It also looks like the King of Fighters movie will introduce a new science fiction spin into the setting established in the games’ universe by following the surviving members of three legendary fighting clans who are continually whisked away to other dimensions by an evil power. As the fighters enter each new world they battle that universe’s native defenders, while the force that brought them seeks to find a way to invade and infect our world. Pardon me while I show how much of a nerd I am but it kind of sounds like a little bit of Highlander and Marvel’s Exiles comic book series. Not that I’m complaining, I’m just sayin’.

Joseph Chou, Tim Kwok and Bobby Sheng are the film’s producers. The movie is targeted for a 2010 release.

Cast:

Sean Faris as Kyo Kusanagi

Will Yun Lee as Iori Yagami

Ray Park as Rugal Bernstein

Françoise Yip as Chizuru Kagura

Hiro Kanagawa as Saisyu Kusanagi

Monique Ganderton as Mature

Maggie Q as Vice

David Leitch as Terry Bogard

The Twilight Saga's New Moon:

Acclaimed actress Dakota Fanning has officially joined the cast and will play the Volturi Jane in the Twilight Saga New Moon. The rumor was online since a long, but nice to have an official confirmation from Summit Entertainment.

In the universe of Twilight, the Volturi are like law enforcers among the Vampires: they are much respected, end even feared because of their mind control tricks

So Dakota Fanning will play the role of Jane, one of the prize members of the Volturi Guard and one of their highest ranking guards, a sadistic person and a pet of Aro a former Volturi leader. She seems rather bitter and easily justifies inflicting pain on anyone with her power. Jane has a twin brother named Alec and they both reside in Volterra, Italy.

Robin Hood:

Scott Grimes (TV's "ER"), Kevin Durand (TV's "Lost," "Stargate: SG-1") and Alan Doyle (lead singer of Canadian folk-rock band Great Big Sea) have been cast as various members of Robin Hood's Merry Men in Ridley Scott's "Robin Hood" for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment. Penned by Brian Helgeland ("LA Confidential," "A Knight's Tale"), the story is being billed as a retelling of the origins of the key characters of the Robin Hood legend. Cate Blanchett is already on board as Maid Marian. Grimes has been cast in the role of Will Scarlet, a skilled swordsman and Hood's nephew. Durand is playing Little John, Hood's right-hand man. Doyle is playing Alan a Dayle, who in lore was a roving minstrel and needed help when his love was being forced to marry another man.

A Perfect Getaway:

Director David Twohy has taken to his blog to update fans on his upcoming thriller A Perfect Getaway. The movie was originally scheduled for release this past weekend through MGM — but will now be released by Universal Pictures, possibly sometime in August. The movie (also written by Twohy) stars Steve Zahn and Milla Jovovich as a couple honeymooning in Hawaii who find themselves victimized by a pair of killers, played by Timothy Olyphant and Kiele Sanchez.

The Cabin in the Woods:

Camp counselors Joss Whedon and Drew Goddard have recruited Kristen Connolly ("Revolutionary Road", "The Happening"), Chris Hemsworth ("Star Trek"), Anna Hutchison ("Underbelly"), Fran Kranz ("The Village") and Jesse Williams ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2") for their fun little jaunt out to "The Cabin in the Woods." The United Artists horror film had already bagged Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor") and Bradley Whitford ("Bottle Shock"). The genre-tweaking screenplay was written by Whedon, who is producing, and Goddard, who is directing. The plot and character descriptions have been withheld by the filmmakers and the studio.

The Roommate:

Leighton Meester, one of the stars of "Gossip Girl," is getting ready for some late-night whispering sessions on the big screen. The actress is in negotiations to star in the Sony Screen Gems thriller "The Roommate." Christian E. Christiansen is directing, and Roy Lee and Doug Davison's Vertigo Entertainment is producing. The story follows Sara (Meester), a college student who is randomly assigned to a freshman dorm with a stranger named Rebecca. Things turn deadly when Rebecca becomes obsessed and begins targeting people in Sara's life.

Iron Man 2:

According to Nikki Finke (Hollywood Daily), Mickey Rourke is pretty much a lock to play the villain in director Jon Favreau’s upcoming Iron Man 2. The news was rumored a couple of months ago, but word was that Marvel offered Rourke a mere $250,000 for his participation in the sequel. But, Finke is reporting that negotiations have resulted in a much higher payday for the Oscar-nominated actor.

In addition to Rourke, Scarlett Johannson has reportedly also joined the cast, playing Black Widow. Emily Blunt was originally attached to the role but was forced to back out to make Gulliver’s Travels for Fox. Johansson’s deal could also see her return for potential sequels and spin-offs, including Marvel’s planned Avengers movie.

Thor:

According to rumors, Josh Hartnett is on the “short list” to play the villain Loki in Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Thor based on the Marvel Comics character.

In the comics, Loki is Thor’s adopted brother. Because of his smaller stature, he grows up to be jealous of the attention given to Thor. Loki develops an interest in sorcery and uses this skill in his pursuit of power, becoming known as the “God of Lies and Mischief” and later the “God of Evil”. The character made his first official Marvel appearance in Journey into Mystery #85 in October 1962.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows:

Clue:

Universal has attached Gore Verbinski to develop "Clue," a live-action murder mystery based on the Hasbro board game that he would direct. Verbinski will produce through his U-based Blind Wink banner, along with Hasbro’s Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir, who also have an overall deal at the studio. Verbinski will next direct "Bioshock" for U. "Clue" is one of the few board games to surpass $1 billion in sales, in more than 50 markets. It was developed in England by a retired legal clerk named Anthony Pratt during WWII and released in 1948.

So its really official, Mickey will be a baddie in the Iron Man sequel.

I can see Josh Hartnett as Loki, that would be cool.

Pati ba naman si Dakota sumali pa sa overhype na Twilight, tsk tsk! :thumbsdownsmiley:

Thor:

You may recognize Alexander Skarsgård as the 6'4" Nordic vampire Eric Northman on True Blood, or perhaps as Sgt. “Iceman” Colbert from Generation k*ll, or you may just know him as veteran actor Stellan Skarsgård’s son. Now, there’s rumors saying that director Kenneth Branagh is considering him to play the titular gleaming Norse God of Thunder in Marvel’s upcoming film Thor, which will definitely increase that recognition factor.

The Avengers:

"The Avengers" release date was recently pushed back by Marvel from July 15th, 2011 by almost a year to May 4th, 2012. The schedule change gave some room for "Thor" to be squeezed in, but apparently that wasn't the only reason for the move.

Reports says that Marvel is having some financing issues, but more importantly, the studio wants "Iron Man" helmer Jon Favreau to direct "The Avengers." Without the date change, it would be impossible for Favreau to finish "Iron Man 2" and still have time to take on the multi-superhero film.

This doesn't mean that Favreau has already negotiated a deal, it just means that he if he wants to take on "The Avengers," he will have first dibs. Right now, it looks like Favreau will end up taking the job. He has expressed interest to do so and is already getting ready to go into production on "Iron Man," which is set to hit theaters on May 7th, 2010.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4:

Keira Knightley, who starred in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, said that she won't be returning for the fourth installment, which is bringing back Johnny Depp.

"It was a completely fantastic experience, and it was an amazingly large portion of my life, but I don't think I need to go there again," she said. "I think that it's done. But I'm very excited to see the next one. And [Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow] is so wonderful in that character. I think it'll be wonderful."

Even before Disney announced the signing of Depp, rumors have been floating around that the studio wouldn't bring back Knightley or Orlando Bloom. Knightley has now confirmed this. At this point, the new film is looking likely to focus on Jack Sparrow and his family.

Wonder Woman:

There was a regime change late last year over at Silver Pictures, Andrew Rona is now the man in charge and will be the man spearheading the live action Wonder Woman project along with mega producer Joel Silver. Sources in the Burbank studios have confirmed there is quite a bit of movement on the WW front. With Green Lantern going into production this year, it looks like Princess Diana may finally get the go ahead from WB. WB and Silver Pictures are in the early stages but they are eager to get started on the movie. WB is looking for new writers on the project and have been taking pitches the last few weeks.

Created during World War II, the character was initially depicted fighting the Axis military forces, as well as an assortment of supervillains and supervillainesses. In later decades, some writers and their editors preferred to retain the World War II setting, while others updated the series to reflect an ongoing "present day."

The Goon:

Check out the first look at The Goon based on the Dark Horse Comics title. The animated movie, being produced by David Fincher, was announced at last year’s Comic Con. Created by Eric Powell, the story centers on the title character who, along with his sidekick Franky, battles The Zombie Priest, an undead mobster who is building up an army of zombies, monsters and demons. The comic is currently celebrating its 10th Anniversary on shelves. The movie is being developed by Blur Studios, the company also working on the upcoming Heavy Metal movie.

It (remake):

According to the trades, Warner Bros. is bringing Stephen King's landmark horror novel "It" to the big screen in an adaptation being produced by Lin Pictures and Vertigo Entertainment. Dave Kajganich has been hired pen the script, which follows a group of kids called the Losers Club that encounter a creature called It, which preys on children and whose favorite form is that of a sadistic clown called Pennywise. When the creature resurfaces, the kids are called upon to regroup again, this time as adults, even though they have no memory of the first battle. The novel is set in 1958 and 1985, though the feature version will be set in the present day.

The Strangers 2:

French music vid/commercial director Laurent Briet is in the running to direct a sequel to last year's sleeper hit "The Strangers". Original film writer/director Bryan Bertino penned the script which apparently will take place in a trailer park. Shooting begins this summer. Briet worked on special effects for "The Ring" remake and the short film "Little Minx Exquisite Corpse: Rope a Dope".
