The Green Lantern:

According to rumors, warner Bros. is interested in Ryan Gosling to play Hal Jordan/The Green Lantern in the upcoming movie that WB is fasttracking to start next Spring. Now whether or not it'll happen is another story altogether.

The first Green Lantern (Alan Scott) was originally created by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell in 1940. The second Green Lantern (Jordan) was created by John Broome and Gil Kane and first appeared in 1959 during the Silver Age of comic books. As the story goes, each Green Lantern possesses a ring that gives the user great control over the physical world as long as the wielder has sufficient willpower and strength to wield it.

"Hex" first appeared in the early 1970s in the issues of "All-Star Western" before graduating to his own series in 1977 that ran for about 10 years. A new series was launched in 2005. The character also had a run in the 1990s that combined the Western genre with supernatural elements.

Set in 2100, the horror thriller envisions an Earth where a collapsed economy and climate crises have eliminated the middle class, leaving a few very wealthy and the teeming masses in severe poverty. To give hope and avoid revolt, the elite create Fortuna, a mysterious game where one in a thousand wins a big payday and joins the upper classes. But their hidden goal to "reduce poverty" by 30% over 50 years comes with a deadly price tag.

Armored:

Millennium Films is looking for Eric Bana to star in and F. Gary Gray to direct their upcoming remake of Le Convoyeur. The movie, based on the 2004 French heist drama, follows a man who takes a job for an armored car company and ingratiates himself with his co-workers, who trust him enough to make him part of their heist plans. Unbeknownst to his colleagues, the man had his own motives for taking the job. David Ayer and Andrew Kevin Walker wrote the script. The remake was going to be rechristened "Armored" but that will likely change due to another upcoming movie sharing the same title.

Haters:

The thriller is about an epidemic of random violence in which ordinary people strike lethally without warning or remorse.

Society is rocked by a sudden increase in the number of violent assaults on individuals. Christened 'Haters' by the media, the attackers strike without warning. Their attacks are brutal, remorseless and extreme. There are no apparent links between the Haters or their victims and no obvious reason for their violence. In seconds rational, controlled people become vicious killers. Everyone - irrespective of race, gender, age, sexuality or any other imaginable difference - has the potential to become either a Hater or a victim. This is a terror which knows no boundaries. You can no longer trust anyone, no matter how well you think you know them. You can no longer trust yourself. By the end of today you could be a killer. By the end of today you could be dead.

The Avengers:

"Iron Man” writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who themselves may be writing another Marvel movie in the near future, couldn’t agree more, they told MTV News, insisting that everything is building towards making The Hulk the villain in the eagerly anticipated 2011 movie.

“I hope ‘The Avengers’ embraces that,” Fergus said of having the Hulk as misunderstood baddie. “You don’t want like 10 super-badass good guys fighting together. Where’s the fun in that? Let’s break it off a little. Friends or colleagues who become enemies is always an interesting thing because you know it’s based on love and friendship and that’s always the worst thing to have turn bad — is someone you actually care about and someone you actually believe in.”

Hulk, of course, has fought nearly every Marvel hero at some point in the comics, and because he already had his own movie, wouldn’t need to be set-up in the new one. In fact, all the hard work is already done.

“I left the door open for whoever’s going to direct ‘The Avengers’ with our last shot. Edward [Norton] and I, we consciously decided to make the last shot of the movie when he opens his eyes and he smirks at the camera,” Leterrier told us. “Is he enjoying it? Is he malicious? That’s what’s great about Edward. You don’t know if he’s a good guy or bad guy. He’s always on this edge and we’ve been sort of surfing that edge, that very thin edge during the entire movie.”

The site adds that "while Rapunzel's story reels have gotten noticeably stronger over the past 18 months ... In the end, Glen & Dean were never able to solve this project's main story problem. Which is that -- once Rapunzel gets trapped in her tower -- this fairy tale goes stale." Rapunzel remains slated for a Christmas 2010 release.

When the puppet cast of an '80s children's TV show called "The Happytime Gang" begins to get murdered one by one, a disgraced LAPD detective-turned-private eye puppet with a drinking problem takes on the case. Due to the more adult nature of the material, it will be produced under the company's Henson Alternative banner. The plot of the film will revolve around a French solider in the Napoleonic wars that is deluded about his level of bravery. For Grey, who lists Jean-Luc Godard, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Catherine Breillat among her favorite filmmakers, "Girlfriend" will be her third legit film appearance in 2009, having notched small parts in Dick Rude's indie "Quit" and Canadian horror project "Smash Cut."

"To have the opportunity to work for an Academy Award-winning auteur is truly a great honor," Grey told AVN. "I've been an admirer of Soderbergh's films for years, and I am elated that I have been given a leading role in a character-driven film."

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the vampires and their onetime slaves, the Lycans. In the dark ages, after the long struggle of the vampire race to subdue the first generation of lycans, the two races live in relative peace. Lycans are the daytime guardians of the vampires, vampires are the rulers of the night, aristocrats and nobles. When the daughter of Viktor, a vampire elder of great renown and respect, becomes pregnant with her lycan lover's child she is ordered exectued. Lucian, the lover, is forced to watch as she is burned alive by the sun along with his unborn child. When Viktor returns to the execution chamber, Lucian flies into a rage, transforms (in spite of the fact that the moon was not full) and flees with his beloved's necklace. Lucian then rallies other lycans to his cause and the war between vampires and lycans begins.

For centuries the war rages, eventually the lycans are beaten. Their only stronghold is the castle of their leader Lucian. Viktor's second in command, Kraven, makes a pact with the lycan alpha, Lucian. The branded skin is cut from Lucian's arm as proof of his demise and his castle razed to the ground. This farce leaves Lucian in relative peace so that he can begin rebuilding his forces to strike a deadly and telling blow against the vampires centuries later by finding the pure blood of the Corvinus line.

2. Ewan McGregor plays Carlo Ventresca, the faithful servant to the church during the papal conclave in Vatican City. Grazer says the movie examines the conflict between science and God, particularly when faith is tested by violence. "This is the hardest movie Ron (Howard) has ever shot," Grazer says. "Not only because of being exiled from the Vatican, but it's darker subject matter."

3. Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks, left), Vittoria Vetra (Ayelet Zurer), Chartrand (Thure Lindhart) and Carlo Ventrasca (Ewan McGregor) examine clues in Angels. Grazer describes their earlier film, The Da Vinci Code, as "a puzzle movie. It wasn't a contemporary movie. It was a little static. This one is more dynamic. It's an action movie."

http://img404.imageshack.us/img404/6605/angelsdigxlargegw1.jpg

4. Filmmakers had hoped to shoot Angels at the Vatican and inside Roman churches. But Brown's Angels, which includes the murder of two cardinals, was quickly shut down by the church. "This movie was strangely harder to shoot than Da Vinci Code, even though there's less controversy," says producer Brian Grazer. Exteriors were shot quickly in Rome, and elaborate sets were built to replicate the Vatican and other churches at Los Angeles studios

Conquest of the Planet of the Apes:

Reports says that 20th Century Fox is considering a new version of "Planet of the Apes". Not a sequel to the Burton film, nor another 'reboot' of the classic original, this is essentially a remake of the fourth film in the classic series - "Conquest of the Planet of the Apes." That film was set in a dystopian future where apes had been domesticated and told the story of Caesar, the first ape with speech who started the events that led to a world where monkeys were on top and humans were dumb beasts.

The new script entitled "Genesis: Apes" by Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver is set in a more contemporary present day society and has Caesar being created by a genetic scientist who ends up taking it home and raising him as the son he and his wife were unable to conceive. After killing a human in an attack and being put on trial, things turn like 'Conquest' with Caesar leading a campaign to unite the apes and violently overthrow humanity.

His quest ultimately leads him to Frank Nitti, whom he is urged to k*ll on the orders of Al Capone. The second sequel will follow Sullivan’s continued plight.

Harper Collins also has a synopsis for 2005's Road to Paradise: Lake Tahoe, 1973: Michael Satariano—who as a young man fought the Capone mob in Chicago—has reached a comfortable middle age, with a loving wife at home, a talented teenage daughter in high school, and a son earning medals in Vietnam. Now running a casino for the mob, Michael thinks he's put his killing days behind him—after all, he's made a respectable life for himself and his family .. and plenty of money for the boys back in Chicago. So when godfather Sam Giancana orders him to hit a notoriously violent and vulnerable gangster, Michael refuses.
