ulongilaw
For me the biggest upside of the proliferation of social networking sites is that it made communication easier with long distance friends and families. On the otherhand, the biggest downside for me is it's potential to unconciously plant negative or false ideas to a person's brain because it's easy to unconciously pick up another person's opinions as one's own. Chris&Sabine
Social media has its advantages and disadvantages. An observation, it has mostly been a sort of a smoke and mirrors mechanism for most. People like to project something about their life that isn't really 100% truth. And yes, social media has made us forget how face-to-face communication is more valuable than being glued to our mobile phones all the time. It's refreshing to meet up with friends or sit down with family and just have a full-on conversation, like seeing them smile, hearing how their voices shift as they tell their stories...all of those emotional cues and shifts that we don't get to see or hear when we simply use technology to communicate (minus video calls). No amount of emojis could fill that experience. 1 Quote Link to comment
