Meron na silang Douhit at back-up in Slaughter at Fajardo. Ewan ko kung magagawa ni Pingris sa FIBA Wold Cup ang ginagawa niya sa PBA I agree Ping should not be with the Gilas team anymore he has proven himself already. Let him concentrate on his duties with San Mig specially after the FIBA World when the Asian Games schedule would be in conflict with PBA's schedules. Same goes for James Yap, PJ Simon, et al. LA, jimmy or lee shooters - david, fonacier, chan or lassiter. daming pwede but one thing's for sure...whoever will be picked will be deserving to don the philippine colors. Quote Link to comment

It's a surprise that James Yap wasn't chosen to be among the 5 additional players. IMHO, i wasn't surprised that James Yap was not chosen, i'm actually very glad that he was not... he's been part of national teams before, and i've always seen a different J.Yap when it comes to international games... nawawala ang galing at diskarte... parang iba ang dating ng laro nya pag hindi para sa PBA team nya ang usapan... ayun... mas nagulat pa ko a hindi nasama si Barroca sa choices, at lease sa pool man lang... RED2018 Posted March 4, 2014 Share Posted March 4, 2014 I think the current pool is enough... they already have a good mix of bigs, guards, wingmen and shooters... trimming the team down to 12 is the big challenge for coach Chot. This is more like it...And getting the right chemistry/cohesion (quickly, at that)would be a big factor for this Gilas team to succeed Quote Link to comment

Enlighten me gentlemen, what are the other factors that (may) have affected their decisions? Only one, babe, and it's all because they (Slaughter and Lassiter) are under the payroll of the SMC Group. Their biggest business rival is the MVP Group which, coincidentally, bankrolls the Smart Gilas Program. Because of public pressure, SMC has finally allowed a maximum of 1 player from each SMC Team (Ginebra, San MIguel, San Mig Coff) to join Gilas Pilipinas. So why does Ginebra have two Gilas players (Japeth and LA)? That's because when Gilas was formed, Japeth was with another team while LA has a clause in his contract that allows him to suit up for the national team even without consent from his ballclub. He may be skillful and fearless, but if we want to have advantage on the 1 or 2 positions, they have to be speedy and/or have blinding quickness.Kaya sa palagay ko Alapag, Jason Castro, and LA have their successes in the int'l competition. Lee is a different mode of a guard na maraming katulad sa ibang bansa. Methinks Jared may have a better success rate than Lee in the no. 2 spot Quote Link to comment
