game_boy
None yet. Definitely the 12 last time plus 12 more... Quote Link to comment
smyts
Quote Link to comment
RED2018
One positive thing noted by Coach Chot was that no one in the Group where Gilas belong can outrun Jayson Castro- not even Puerto Rico's Barea Quote Link to comment
darksoulriver

Mabuhay Gilas! Quote Link to comment
top secret
McGee is set to undergo an operation... so most probably he's out of the picture... Blatche would still be an upgrade on Douthit skills wise... I believe Gregg Slaughter could help our Gilas team frontline... I am hoping that either Barocca or Paul Lee would be considered too... bongbongman
Croatia first game sa august 30Greece next gameArgentina sunodPuerto RicoSenegal Ang first 3 games talagang mabibigat, lalo na ang greece (#5 in the world) at argentina (#3 in the world)Puerto Rico diyan masusukat kung kaya natin manaloAgainst Senegal baka mas malaki ang tsansa Andray Blatche is currently injured pero parang minor lang. Tingin ko Chot Reyes will tinker with the line-up to give us the best chance of defeating PR and Senegal. Sana magulat natin yung Crotia kasi first game. Quote Link to comment

bongbongman
Top 16 would be a great gift to the basketball crazy fans of the country, para na ring nanalo ng gold yan Quote Link to comment
top secret
Mukang mas magandang isama si Barocca in place of LA Tenorio... Mango Man
Blatche will be a good addition because he is a very good scorer, our big men all cannot score. But he doesnt seem to be as adept at rebounding and defense. Plus he has a history of behavior problems. Quote Link to comment
bongbongman
Barroca should play hindi si LA or Alapag. We need somebody who speed up the game, hindi pwedeng si Jayson Castro lang. Maganda yung ginagawa ni Tim Cone na kahit point guard binabantayan ni Pingris, it shows may speed siya and he can guard kahit mga shooters sa FIBA. Quote Link to comment
RED2018
Beating Argentina is a wishful thinking (even without Ginobili); sa Senegal lang may tsansa; sa iba tsamba lang Quote Link to comment
top secret
Beating Argentina is a wishful thinking (even without Ginobili); sa Senegal lang may tsansa; sa iba tsamba lang I would quote a retired basketball coach who was asked about his thoughts on the FIBA World championship; - They must study the line-up and styles of Senegal, Puerto Rico and Croatia. They must prepare seriously against those teams because that's where they have a chance of winning. The games against Argentina and Greece would be treated as practice/tune-up (and rest for the players who are playing heavy minutes) since there would be a very slim chance of winning anyway... The final line-up will also depend on their preparations against those 3 teams... a possibility of bringing just 2 points guards (they have 3 point guards right now)and adding more height and shooters... Only 6 from the current line-up are almost guaranteed to make it - Fajardo, De Ocampo, Pingris, Chan, Norwood, and Castro. Quote Link to comment
Agent_mulder
I'm not expecting Smart Gilas to make waves in this tournament but, at least, they go up against the best in the world. This experience will go a long way in making the Philippines significant again in Asian basketball for a long time. It's really a good thing that the SBP was formed since it really took Philippine basketball from the doldrums to new heights. It would also expose Filipinos to international competition, and who knows scouts from the NBA and other countries might took notice of them. Mukang mas magandang isama si Barocca in place of LA Tenorio... Blatche will be a good addition because he is a very good scorer, our big men all cannot score. But he doesnt seem to be as adept at rebounding and defense. Plus he has a history of behavior problems. Isn't it a bit too for that? Alam naman nating matagal ang naturalization process eh, dapat sana last year pa after ng FIBA Asia Quote Link to comment
game_boy
If Mcgee replaces Douthit, Smart Gilas can absolutely beat Iran. Although Haddadi is taller by 2 inches, Mcgee is one of the better shot-blockers in the NBA, not to mention a wingspan of 7'6. Japeth and Mcgee at the 4 and 5, respectively, is not bad, not bad at all. Haddadi murdered us inside during last year's FIBA finale. it seems like chot would be going for blatche Quote Link to comment
sneakerhead33
il remove fonacier din in favor of another wing player who can shoot from the outside.siguro sila lassiter or lutz. They are better defensively as well. Quote Link to comment
top secret
No Japeth? Yes... Japeth is still not sure of making the team... If you would remember, Belga was the last cut from the Gilas team who fought at the FIBA Asia. The choice was actually between Belga and Japeth. Had it not for Williams' injury, he (Williams) would have been there instead of Japeth. Now, considering that Fajardo, Pingris and De Ocampo are almost sure of making it... plus the naturalized player (either Douthitt or Blatche)... there would be only 2 or 3 more slots left for the big men... if Blatche would play, he's a natural 4... so what Gilas team would need is a 5... where Slaughter is being considered... With that scenario... the last slot would be a toss-up again between Japeth, Belga, and/or even Williams... where Williams has an inside track because he plays for MVP (Talk n Text)... jepoyskieLOVEbianca
just my opinion... wala akong papalitan sa GIlas team... kung meron man, siguro after na ng FIba World, and Asian Games... the current line-up worked hard to bring us back to the FIBA world.. tapos bigla na lang papalitan nung maabot na yung dream natin??? very un-Filipino like yan... wala ka din naman guarantee na pag nagpalit ka ng player eh mas mag-improve yung team... more or greatwer talent doesn't necessarily transform to wins... saka syempre yung chemistry ng current line-up mahalaga yun... so kung magpapalit na naman tayo, mahihirapan tayo sa rotation... dun naman sa idea na Williams over Japeth... siguro nung time na kalakasan pa ni Williams, pero ngayon??? i'd rather have Japeth... maiintindihan nyo ko kung napanuod nyo yung FIBA Asia na ginanap dito satin... dun nag-mature si Japeth... and who know, with more exposure, baka matupad na yung pangarap natin na magkaroon ng Pinoy sa NBA... the dunk he made may only count 2 points, pero the momentum it brings sa team, hindi matatawaran yun Quote Link to comment
