SPORTS 123
Sana magpatuloy yun performance ng Gilas for the next 4 years para qualify sa Olympics. Quote Link to comment
Richmond
The Smart Gilas players should get used to playing against taller, heftier and quicker players in their position the Jones cup win is a good start hope that they would not be contented with this win and not be distracted on their ultimate goal of qualifying for the olypmpics. klintz
Sana mas madevelop pa yung basketball program natin. Maganda na yung start by winning the Jones Cup, sana lang magtuloy tuloy at mamaintain nila. Quote Link to comment
Agent_mulder
what is enrico villanueva doing in the smart gilas line-up? He is used sparingly, Ginebra fan ako but I don't think that he used be in the line-up, mas ok pa sana kung si Rob Reyes or Arwind Santos. OK na rin that Douthit is retained in their line-up coz he's doing very well for the team. Douhit did managed to hold his own against the U.S. team, downside lang napagod noong with around 5 minutes na lang sa game so nilabas muna at pinalitan ni Thoss, buti noong pumasok he managed to get his second wind. sino ba yung mga players na pinadala ng us? collegiate o cba or d-league Mga naglalaro lang yata ang mga 'yun as imports sa Asia base sa nadinig kong sinabi ng isa sa mga sportscasters, pero tingin ko pwede sa PBA sina Justice at Marshall.. The Smart Gilas players should get used to playing against taller, heftier and quicker players in their position the Jones cup win is a good start hope that they would not be contented with this win and not be distracted on their ultimate goal of qualifying for the olypmpics. Sana mas madevelop pa yung basketball program natin. Maganda na yung start by winning the Jones Cup, sana lang magtuloy tuloy at mamaintain nila. Yeah I hope na ituloy nila ang program. It only shows that we can compete with the best of Asia with the proper program and dedication and funding of course. Tama din ang sinabi ni Tiu tungol sa Chinese-Taipei players, they can score pero ang defense nila in not much to be desire unlike their mainland counterpart.. Quote Link to comment
rickyfred
Sana FIBA Asia naman! Goodluck Gilas 2.0...Congratz again! Quote Link to comment
Richmond
Come to think of it in the last FIBA qualifying we are only 2 wins short of qualifying for a slot at the olympics this is the best time to form a cohesive fighting unit since other Asian powerhouses like China and Iran are quite beatable based on their recent performances. fatchubs
Congrats to Gilas 2 ... champions of the recent Jones Cup. Incidentally, the Philippines with Gilas 1 under coach Toroman managed to bag 3rd place last year. Edited August 28, 2012 by fatchubs Quote Link to comment

I concur, they ought to assess kung sino talaga ang dapat maisama sa training pool and/or final line-up, I suggest that do away with Rico V. and JR Reyess, heck Ginebra fan ako pero alam ko na meron pang mas deserving maisali sa SG kesa sa kanya. Si Thoss naman kasi napakabagal, 'napanood ko sa laban nila against USA, pag nabigyan sa loob kailangan pa mag-dribble kaso pag-dribble naagawan, Fajardo ought to be included along with Pingris and maybe even Ellis or Hodge.... Agent_mulder
I think Fajardo should be included based on Tim Cone's comment that he's Kareem Abdul Jabbar without the skyhook. A frontline featuring Fajardo and Douthit would be imposing. He can be Douhit's back-up or pagsabayin sila if needed.... Quote Link to comment
dfgvan
smc players need to have a waiver signed before they could play for gilas Quote Link to comment
buwitre1781
It seems na magpaphiram na ang SMC teams ng ilan sa mga marquee players nila for Gilas. Arwind and Lassiter has expressed their intent to play, bukod pa kay Pingris na siningle-out ni Chot Reyes. Pero alang Fajardo, mukhang ayaw siya talaga ipahiram sa iba. Quote Link to comment
game_boy
chot reyes has until tomorrow to name his 12 players for stankovic, my suggestion is he drops the following players from the current gilas line-up: enrico villanuevajr reyesmac baracelgarvo lanetelarry fonaciermatt rosser with those 6 players out he can bring in the following: marcio lassiterjason castrojunemar fajardokelly williamsmarc pingrisjames yap plus the following left-overs: marcus douthitgary davidjeff changabe norwoodla tenoriosonny thosssol mercadoranidel ocampo giving him a pool of 14 players to choose his final 12 until tomorrow. buwitre1781
this will be a solid group if ever...wala ka nang itatapon dyan that is if SMC will really loan its players. akala ko kasi ok na pero nun g lumabas yung official statement nng BMEG regarding Chot's intent of getting Pingris parang sinabi niyang "oo ipapahiram namin siya, kaso galing siya sa injury saka nagchampion sila na ala sila eh bakit babaguhin pa" Hehe. So the bottomline is kunwari lang na magpapahiram sila. Greatest causalty sa Gilas would be LA kapag natuloy ang deal trading him to BGK. Pero sabi ni Pnoy kay Chot susulatan daw niya ang ayaw magpahiram ng players, yun ay kaniya niyang sulatan ang tiyuhin niya. Quote Link to comment

Vegasboy32
Ang ayaw ko lang sa pagka panalo na ito. Yung media natin panay misleading information ang binibigay regarding sa us team which is made of players from the UBA (universal basketball association). Sinasabi pa nila na future nba players daw itong mga ito. Namimislead tuloy ang mga tao. Baka akala ng karamihan sa atin tuloy ang tinalo ng smart gilas eh ung us olympic team. The only way that this team is gonna meet the the legit us team if they would be able to quailify in the World Basketball Championships or the Olympics. The last time a team from the Philippines played in the World Basketball was in 1954. So this team has a long way to go. Good luck in future tournaments. Quote Link to comment
johncharles
Compared to the 2012 US gold medal team, the US jones cup team cannot be classified as Team B / a level below, or even a couple of levels below..The skill difference between the two is day and night. Quote Link to comment
