you must look at Arwind's value beyond his physical attributes...

he plays bigger than his size because of his long arms, hops and quickness

the most important thing I like about Arwind is that he's a difference maker, he makes important plays and his presence is felt on the court.

Si Arwind meron at meron gagawing magagandang play yan on both ends - offense and defense..

Sayang talaga, I wish he was included

One thing about Santos is he's long and can guard the opposing 2 or 3 of the other team.

I don't know about guarding shooting guards. He does not that have the quickness to defend against the shooting guards of other teams.. All his life he has been playing Power Forward or small Forward. He usually defends forwards on the low post.

It's nice to hear Douthit's assessment of the Gilas team...

http://www.philstar....-gilas-be-no.-1

yeah! Douthit is very much right!!!

the reason why the Philippines today is losing basketball games to asian countries is

because we are defeating ourselves!

guys, try to look at each player individually...

looking at individual skills... our country is definitely the best and the most skilled player in Asia!!

what we lack is teamwork, and the most important thing... HEART!!!

we do not lack skills or height... puso lang... puso!!!

kaya sana gamitin nyo yan, ibigay nyo best nyo!!

para sa Pilipinas!!!

Jason Castro may be fearless and hard to stop in the PBA, but can he replicate his 'successes' in FIBA (where guards are smarter and quicker, and centers more fearsome and more accurate shot blockers). Sana lang mag-click siya. Jayvee Casio has time and again proven his worth in the FIBA, and maaaring nadagdagan ang maturity niya in his short PBA stints (with Powerade and now Alaska). I'd go for Arwind Santos than Japhet Aguilar. Have you seen him played against the legit NBA stars (Kobe and Co.) in a not so distant past? He was awesome (well it was only an exhibition, but NBA stars are NBA stars- the FIBA world champion, mind you.

As for Arwind, maybe (just maybe) naiilang pa si Coach sa consistent stance of SMC (altho ok na ngayon kasi ma-cricriticize sila as being non-cooperative on national interest)na magpahiram kaya si Junmar na lang kinuha. I'll bet my half-year salary, Japhet won't make the final 12.

I think I (including whoever traded him out of TnT)will be vindicated here. Japhet really is just an athletic basketeer. He's just spectacular when he can make his favorite moves. But he's since been read by opposing players. He has not been a major factor in Globalport's quest and ambition...What more sa Gilas team.

Guest demon nick fury

Arwind Santos of Petron is trying to convince his mother unit to allow him to play for the national team Smart Gilas just in case Kelly Williams doesn't recover in time. I think Arwind is a good substitute.

Why Group A and not Group D was Chot's choice?

ganito ata yan bossing...

kaya group A ang pinili ni CHot, kasi sa Elims round robin, tapos the top 2 teams for each group advances Quarters...

Quarterfinals will be do-or-die... (not 100% sure ha)

eto ang scenario... in case we finish in top 2 of Group A, we will be up against group D in a do or die match example....

so mas malaki ang chance for us to be in the semis ....

kung mag-group D agad tayo, we could easily land in the top 2, the concern will be in the quarters...

makakatapat natin top2 ng Group A, which possibly could be Jordan and Chinese Taipei...

so sa tingin ko, Coach Chot decided to try to land in the top 2 against Jordan, Chinese Taipei, and (anu pala yung isa???)

and then face less pressure in the quarters against weak Group D...

than easily advance in the quarters but face a harder opponent in a do or die...

eh Top 3 teams will advance sa FIBA world championship...

so mas may liwanag na ang daan pag nasa semis na tayo...

ok, thanks for enlightenment.

looking at it the other way around. had chot decided to be in Group D we can easily be the top team in that group which means we have to face the no. 2 team in Group A which most likely will be taiwan.

anyway, we have to accept the reality that we are in Group A and move on from there. saudi arabia is the other team in Group A aside from jordan and taiwan. jordan will surely be in the top 2 of Group A so it will be a toss-up between the PH and taiwan to get the other slot and move on to the quarters. as host, we have the luxury of choosing our opening day opponent and personally I want taiwan. as a fan, we have to give the taiwanese contingent some very cold treatment and make them feel unwelcome after they snubbed our team to the jones cup.

Who should be cut from the final roster of Gilas NT? What you think guys?

magandang question to bossing ha...

tsk3, napakalaking dilemma kay Coach to ah...

kung ako tatanungin, wala akong tatanggalin kay Fajardo and Aguilar...

kailangan mo si Norwood kasi big guard sya, possible match-up problem sya

plus who would remove a Ranidel De Ocampo in his team di ba??? threat in both

inside and out... sino pa ba player na hindi ko nabanggit??

I dont think Marc Pingris will be left out. He was already given assignment of scouting scorers of opposing teams from the get go. Coach Chot's logic is that he can guard small to tall players.

Pero in such preparation and advises/inputs from experts, everything may change...
