Any news on Caguiao?

according to reports fractured eye socket daw chief...the bad news is he might be missing the first 2 games of the semis also according to the same source. mabigat na kawalan si caguioa kung totoo ang reports considering he is the heart and soul of the kings.

Thanks sa info sir, kawalan talaga si Caguiao for them whoever they face sa semis, 2nd leading rebounder sa PBA at scoring leader among the Ginebra locals....

mark is really a great loss considering that the semis is a short series. it is important for the kings to hold the fort until he returns for duty. somebody must have to step up big time. marami naman maaasahan ang ginebra. i think the key in this semis series would be kerby...he hasn't really played that well. the semis could be his time.

Mark Caguioa is doubtful to play for Ginebra in the semis. He’s due for another eye check-up tomorrow to determine if surgery is necessary to repair the hairline fracture in his orbital socket. According to a Ginebra source, Caguioa has been examined by four doctors, three ophthalmologists and a neurologist. Two of the three ophthalmologists aren’t recommending surgery until they determine the extent of the damage after the swelling subsides.

Caguioa banged his head on the floor after a fall during the playoff against B-Meg last March 30. He suffered two cuts over his right eye but neither was stitched. The cuts were long but not deep. “Mark was brought to the dressing room after he went down and wanted to go back to play,” said the source. “But when he stood up from being examined, his right eye vision was blurry so he was brought to the hospital for a thorough check-up. His vision has improved. But until the final examination (on Tuesday), we won’t know if he’ll be operated on. Whether or not the doctors will operate, Mark might miss the entire semifinals.”

An orbital bone specialist who examined Caguioa said he probably won’t require surgery. “I saw him last Thursday,” said the specialist. “He had slight double vision on extreme down gaze but I advised to wait a few more days because it might resolve. I don’t think surgery may be necessary.”

PBA legend Johnny Abarrientos, now a B-Meg assistant coach, said what he suffered in Game 1 of the 2002 third conference finals was more damaging. The Flying A, playing for Coca-Cola, was elbowed under the right eye by Alaska’s Rob Duat and his cheekbone was severely shattered. Abarrientos said when he looked at himself in the mirror after the hit, he couldn’t believe how his face had been disfigured. He underwent surgery five days from the game and didn’t return to action until two months. Today, Abarrientos wears a titanium plate with screws to keep it in place in the orbital socket.

this is really bad news for ginebra and its fans. mark, being the heart and soul of the kings, will surely be missed.

nonetheless, bring on the bmeg llamados. i'm sure handa na ang ginebra with or without "the spark".

any news if jayjay will be able to play?

Well, at least prepared na ang Ginebra knowing na wala si Caguiao for the 1st two game or so, iba kasi 'yung ma-injured o mawala ang isang player during a game than knowing na 'di s'ya makakalaro sa upcoming game/s. I also do hope that Kerby does have his A-game against bmeg.

Top 10 Ginebra imports

1. Billy Ray Bates – Though unang naglaro para sa fabled Crispa Redmanizers back in ’83 and according sa nabasa ko, that was the most memorable part of his playing career;

2. Michael Hackett – Unsuccessful with his 1st stint with Ginebra back in ’85 but finally won a championship when he teamed-up with Bates noong third conference ng ‘86;

3. Wes Matthews – Spectacular import, , a former L.A. Laker, kaso ‘di nanalo ng championship with them when they went up against alaska whose import is one named Sean Chambers. Me anak named after him na player din;

4. Jervis Cole – Replacement lang pero hard-working import, help Ginebra came back from a 1-3 deficit to clinch the title over shell;

5. Chris King

6. Chris Alexander

7. Torraye Braggs

8. Carlos Briggs

9. Henry James - Nakakulong daw according sa nabasa ko for dealing cocaine;

10. Darren Queenan – Matindi sa slam-dunk, later played for purefoods.

Other Ginebra imports worth mentioning:

11. Jamie Waller – Kamukha ni Iron Mike Tyson

12. David Noel

13. Keith Gray

14. Clinton Wheeler

15. Tommy Davis

16. Ryan Fletcher – Also called as “the great white hope” as he is the first white/Caucasian import to play in the PBA after many years of mostly having African-American imports;

17. Leon Trimmingham – Magaling according to scouting reports kaso nga lang ‘di yata nakapag-adjust sa PBA brand of play;

18. Lou Massey - Lawrence "Sweet Lou" Massey is a 6'5 beefy import that played for Gilbey's Gin in the pre-Jaworski days. Massey once scored 85 points in a PBA game.

19. Alex Coles - Technically 'di talaga nakapaglaro para sa Ginebra dahil he is a few centimeters above the height limit, pero nakasali yata sa slam dunk contest where he jumped over 4 dancers/cheerleaders and Noli Locsin, nanonood pa noon si Laker great Michael Cooper and he is just amazed at what he saw, recently we saw NBA and even college players (in the U.S.) jumping over people but Alex Coles already did it way back in 1995. I remember a clamor back then to allow him to play for Ginebra dahil dehado naman talaga ang Ginebra sa line-up nila back then but all that went for naught. This was during the pre Marlou Aquino and Bal David era.

20. Frank Western – Around 6’5 or 6’6 but can shoot well from the outside kaso parang takot sa banggaan.

21. Joe Ward

22. Sylvester Gray

Tanda ko yung alexander coles na yan lakas dumakdak niyan, naglaro yan 1 game sa Ginebra lakas talaga magdakdak kaso natalo sila against Sta.Lucia tanggal sila, papasok sana sila sa playoffs nun.

That's gonna be Pingris vs Villanueva. BGK ako.

Madami namang big men ang Ginebra, andyan si Mamaril who I think might guard bowles, Hatfield, Raymundo, Menk and even the undersized Willy Wilson.
