BGSM NSD GINEBRA IMPORT PROFILE ORIEN GREENE 6-5

AVE 21PTS 4ASSTS 5REBS D-LEAGUE POINT GUARD
Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Year (2005 2006 ) BACK TO BACK
NBA TEAMS BOSTON, INDIANA, SACRAMENTO, NEW JERSEY
Greene is a 6-5 pass-first PG with outstanding athletic ability, a great wingspan and fantastic skills on the defensive end
.
Greene has been playing the PG position his entire life except for his two seasons in Gainesville and appears to have very good instincts at the position. He played for probably the best mid-major team you never heard of or saw on TV, a superb group of talented athletes that came very close to knocking off a Final Four team in Louisville in the NCAA tournament.

Those who followed high school basketball 5-6 years ago will remember that Greene was considered one of the most talented players in the nation at his position (a top 30 recruit) and was named Mr. Basketball in the state of Florida after putting up one of the most impressive senior years of any Florida player in years, helping to lead a no-name team from Gainesville to back to back state titles

Defensively is where he excels the most right now, and he was named the Sun Belt defensive player of the year two years in a row to back that up, despite playing on one leg for most of the last season. His lateral movement is superb and his hands are excellent, he can guard both the 1 and the 2 positions and has the ability to stay in front of pretty much any PG in the country.

Greene is excellent at putting pressure on the ball, and is very good at sticking his hand in just the right spot to pick his opponent's pocket and come up with the steal.

Offensively, he can create his own shot, although he has a tendency to get ahead of himself and try to do a little too much. His shooting is probably better than his numbers would indicate--he is by no means a great shooter--but he can knock down the open three if you give him space. He is more of a rhythm shooter, I've seen him knock down threes from close to NBA range during games, but he has a long ways to go in this area despite being adequate on the catch and shoot. He can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble or use his size to post up his man and muscle his way to the hoop

Basketball is clearly something that is in Greene's blood, as he's been playing the game from a very young age. He is very smart without the ball and really knows how to pick his spots.

Throwback:

When the topic about the import, who can remember the import of Ginebra fred cofield under jawo era, he shoot the ball in awkward shot, sometimes alahoy shot haha... but Ginebra moved to the finals by defeating the smb, in the finals he was changed by smaller import in game 4 of the finals against alaska, eventually we loss to alaska in game 5.

If greene was not fit to Ginebra in first 3 games, coaching staff should be aware of replacing him immediately, if not we are in danger going to boracay once more.

NBA veteran Orien Greene's PBA stint ended even before it could begin after getting the cut from Barangay Ginebra, which is set to bring in former Indiana Pacers shooting guard Orlando Johnson in his place.

Ginebra team manager and alternate board governor Alfrancis Chua confirmed the import switch, which came after Greene scored 13 points in Ginebra's 102-83 win over an import-less KIA side in a tune-up over the weekend.

That proved to be the one and only game Greene played with the Gin Kings.

Team insiders said the 33-year-old Greene failed to impress, leaving Ginebra management and the coaching staff led by new coach Frankie Lim with no choice but to find a quick replacement in Johnson.

Selected 36th overall by the Sacramento Kings in the 2012 NBA Draft, Johnson, 26, was immediately traded to the Indiana Pacers where he played 89 career games in two seasons, averaging 3.1 points and 1.8 rebounds.

Johnson, who was named the 2010 Big West Player of the Year while playing for UC Santa Barbara, was also a veteran in the NBA D-League where he played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and the Austin Spurs.

He also saw action for the Laboral Kutxa in the Spanish league.

Player agent Sheryl Reyes said Johnson will be arriving on Friday, giving him at least a week to work with Ginebra before the team's debut in the Governors Cup on May 8 against Alaska.

Grabe naman mag offer ang Ginebra for Marcio Lassiter of SMB. Puro "one-dimensional", "trigger-happy" and "I-succumb-to-pressure" na sina Baracael at Yeo ang inoffer. Di naman siguro bulag ang SMB kasi kahit magsama pa to, no deal to sa caliber na katulad ni Marcio. Back to the drawing board Ginebra management and settle this mess!
