Richmond
Better initiate trades in the off season to beef up their frontline use Cyrus Baguio and Chico Lanete as trade bait. There are a lot of quality big men in this year's rookie draft. They really need an inside presence. Quote Link to comment
howarddeduct
Agent_mulder
Sama ng inilaro ng Ginebra kagabi esp. Noel, ang ‘di ko maintindihan kay Noel tira s'ya ng tira sa labas ganong nakita naman n’yang ‘di naman nagki-click ang outside shooting n’ya, buti pa sina Tubid, Lanete at Mamaril who are taking it right into the heart of the smb defense, ganoon na nga ang ginagawa ng mga said players pero Noel still continue to fire-away from the outside to no avail, ‘di ko alam kung nag-iingat s’ya for a possible stint sa NBA Summer Camp or what, kung ako kay Uichico inilabas ko na lang si Noel as he is an eyesore dahil wala nang silbi on both ends of the court. I guess that a return stint for him sa Ginebra is far fetched after that dismal performance (esp. sa last 2 games ng finals). Kudos to Ginebra for making it that far kahit wala si Caguioa at sacrifice ni Helterbrand na maglaro kahit may hamstring injury (which is really evident sa performance n’ya). Anyways, Ginebra needs to acquire a legit center, to be able to make their presence felt para sa next season, what with teams like smb (esp. with the entry of arwind santos), coca-cola, tnt, etc. having a slew of big men, kailangan may pantapat sila sa mga big men ng aforesaid teams. photographer
kawawa naman si Noel, reading back, high praises sa kanya....ngayon dahil sa isang masamang night! tapos siya hahaha (benta, get out !, Loser, biyahe, hehehe) Lanete: (akala ko si Lanete natin. brother pala niya) Lanete’s consistency wins him scribes’ nod 07/19/2009 Simply for his consistency, San Beda guard Garvo Lanete was chosen as the NCAA Press Corps ACCEL-Fil-Oil Player of the Week for leading the Lions to a pair of convincing wins last week. Lanete, the youngest in the basketball-playing Lanete siblings headed by Barangay Ginebra’s Chico, averaged 14 points, four rebounds, three assists and 1.5 steals in 27.5 minutes per game to help his team remain in striking distance with the leaders. With the hard-working Lanete leading the fray, the Lions smashed the St. Benilde Blazers, 86-66, Monday and then followed it up with a 98-65 bashing of the Perpetual Help Altas Friday to improve to a 3-1 (win-loss) record and a shade behind the 4-0 Jose Rizal Bombers and San Sebastian Stags. And San Beda coach Frankie Lim was impressed with Lanete’s unbending consistency. "Garvo is very consistent. He always makes good decisions on the court, he makes the big shots and passes the ball well," said Lim. Another San Beda guard JR Tecson, Jose Rizal’s John Wilson and Letran’s Rey Guevarra were also mentioned in the weekly award, which is being backed by ACCEL and Fil-Oil. But after figuring in the crucial stretch of the last two games wherein he made the biggest shots, the group of sportswriters from the country’s leading broadsheets and tabloids, eventually gave the weekly honor to Lanete. The first two weeks, the NCAA PC picked Jimbo Aquino of San Sebastian and John Wilson of Jose Rizal as its first choices for the ACCEL-Fil-Oil plum. Quote Link to comment
photographer
Ginebra to re-sign Jayjay, CaguioaBy WAYLON GALVEZJuly 17, 2009, 7:41pmJayjay Helterbrand and Mark Caguioa are expected to be re-signed when Barangay Ginebra starts negotiations with 14 players whose contracts have expired. While the Kings’ coaching staff has the prerogative to choose who will be retained, Helterbrand and Caguioa will be retained, according to San Miguel Corp. basketball operations chief Robert Non. “They’re the team’s franchise players,” said Non. The other Ginebra players whose contracts expire this season are Eric Menk, Sunday Salvacion, Chris Pacana, Willie Wilson, Rafi Reavis, Paul Artadi, Ronald Tubid and Chico Lanete. At presstime, the Kings were playing against San Miguel Beer last night for the Motolite-PBA Fiesta Cup crown at the Araneta Coliseum. Caguioa’s contract expired last July 15 along with Junthy Valenzuela, Junjun Cabatu, Macky Escalona and JR Aquino expired last July 15. Billy Mamaril’s contract ends on July 30. Caguioa actually missed the entire 2008-09 PBA season because of tendonitis. He underwent rehabilitation program in the United States before returning recently. “Si Mark (Caguioa) naman okay na ‘yung rehab n’ya. Babalik lang uli s’ya sa US for vacation. Pero once na umuwi s’ya dito, conditioning na lang and he’ll be ready for the all-Filipino (Philippine Cup) next season,” Non said. The Kings have four players who are still under contract, and these are Cyrus Baguio, JC Intal, Homer Se, and Doug Kramer. San Miguel, on the other hand, is expected to keep franchise players Danny Seigle and Dondon Hontiveros. Seigle, who is recuperating from a back injury in the US, has a contract with SMC that expired last July 15 along with Lordy Tugade. Hontiveros’ deal, on the other hand, will end on July 31. The contracts of Jonas Villanueva, the Most Improved Player winner this season, Marc Pingris, Mike Cortez, Dorian Peña, Olsen Racela, Wesley Gonzales, Chris Calaguio, and Sam Eman also ended with the conclusion of the Finals. There are 46 other players who are expected to seek contract extension with their respective mother clubs or sign new deals with other teams. Quote Link to comment

darksoulriver
Nsabi na... kapag natalo ng Game 6 ang BGK nalintikan sila tlaga! No defense - no offense But hands up ako kay JJ pinatunayan nya he's the leader... keep fighting back khit may injury andun pa rin yung desire to win. Too many lapses sa depensa, unforced errors at pinakambigat poor outside shooting kung saan ito yung nagpanalo sa BGK! SMB played great basketball... ganda ng player movement, knows each others role! Congrats SMB for winning the Fiesta Conference Finals... For BGK keep ur heads up, pahinga then balik sa training para sa ALL-Filipino Cup! Pero Bago yun kailangan magpirmahan muna ng contract hehehe... Quote Link to comment
HEAVINSENT
Binigay talaga ng BGK yung championship sa SMB para magchampion naman... Quote Link to comment

tagalupa
Its time to BGK maghanap ng legit center...Sayang si Japeth Aguilar sana kaya lang BK ang 1st pick ngaun draft and sigurado cia ang kukunin ng BK kailangan din nila kc ng legit center.. Ok pa naman si Menk kaya lang aminin na natin tumatanda na cia, si Reavis ok cia sa defense kaya lang kulang cia sa scoring...Kailangan ng BGK un Center na tutulong kina JJ and Caguiao sa scoring...Trade nila un iba guards nila and try to xperiment naman...Inside and outside scoring kailangan nila...Defense naman wala prob sa knila.. Goodluck BGK.. Quote Link to comment
