He struggled in his first look at pro pitching after being drafted, but he turned things around and dominated the South Atlantic and Florida State Leagues in 2008, destroying both leagues with a +41 OPS and a +33 OPS respectively. Adjustments to his swing and improved plate discipline were big factors. Taylor runs well and has a strong throwing arm, but is still polishing up his fielding and baserunning. I’m quite impressed with what he did last year, but we need to see if he can sustain it at higher levels. He has long arms and Double-A pitchers are going to try and tie him up inside. gift_of_game Posted March 11, 2009 Share Posted March 11, 2009 (edited) prospecting is about as inexact a science as there can ever be but one rule of hand the industry strictly adheres to is to always put the numbers in context. an 18-year-old holding his own with rather pedestrian numbers in Double A tends to have way more value than a 22-year-old college prospect who's spraying bombs all over the field at the same level. it's precisely why Latin players keep forging their docs. it's like the Olsen twins---guys were all waiting for them to turn legal and then we all walked away when they hit their 20s.
