TNT Hsia
I learned more about survival training from the Aetas -- & have more respect for them -- than the ROTC. Pweh! Quote Link to comment
paeng
They can make ROTC mandatory if they fulfill the following requirements: 1. Make sure that the AFP can provide uniforms to all cadets, and that means at least two sets: combat and parade. As it is, cadets have to pay for their own uniforms, which should not be the case. I am told even para-military units have to pay for their own uniforms, which should not be the case. 2. Provide real weapons, not wooden props. And provide at least armalites, not older weapons. Make sure that there is target practice weekly, and the AFP must pay for everything, including transport, ammo, etc. 3. Provide real equipment, not theory. These include artillery for arty units, radio equipment, bivouac gear, transport and combat vehicles, med kits, etc. 4. Use drill instructors, not cadets. 5. Provide specialised training, including the use of specific assault weapons various exercises (blank, live-fire, etc.). 6. Provide insurance and provisions for medical aid. Again, everything must be paid for by the military. Cadets or their schools should not pay for anything. Finally, 7. Provide everything mentioned above to all AFP soldiers first. donoman
I think its ok.. ROTC for me defined a new meaning on the word camaraderie and discipline. and its a good experience too. dati ayaw ko din yan. sobrang naghaharap ako ng paraan para makaiwas.. but then nung nagstart na, I felt a different part of myself come out of me.. and friends I gained on the training are some of the friends I value most.. thats just me of course.. hornet18
If they can not implement the program properly, it's better not to reintroduce it again. Quote Link to comment

AESOP
Sana nagkaron ng iba pang program o syllabus para dun like survival training, self defense, basic weaponhandling like rifle assembly at practice shooting kung pwede nga pati first aid. Quote Link to comment
QAZAR
There's nothing wrong with a little bit of military training to instill discipline to the Filipino youth. The problem perhaps is the implementation of the program in all. Some officers see this as financial oppurtunity. The Military program itself is faulty. I mean did any of us do anything good in ROTC aside from basking in the sun and marching endless not knowing which is left or right. In other countries, their program involves some community assistance as well as job oppurtunities. For all we know the ineffectivess of our ROTC program may just reflect the Ineffectiveness of the Philippine Military or worse the Filipino himself as a person. Quote Link to comment

This is so true....Kasi dapat may program talaga hindi puro martsa lang left and right. Sad to say mali yung foundation... Ok sanang maging forging ng discipline to kung mababago nila yung system... Quote Link to comment
