Guest Leviticus
im an ardent motorcylist and use my ride for commuting everyday.... the Honda XRM is a runaway bestseller. how much is it being offered to you? what modifications were done on the bike? if you could provide these info i'd be more than happy to say if its a good buy.... an alternative is to get a trusted motorcycle mechanic to check/inspect the motorcyle engine. most second-hand motorcycles have hidden defects due to mal-usage or unnecessary modifications. and most importantly check the bikes papers. maraming nakaw kc ngaun. its better to be on the side of the law....dami modifications. sorry if what I'm gonna write is inaccurate, total newbie ako. I had a friend look it over and he said that: *vertical disc brakes are very good (?)*modified handle bars (?) pababa ang angle.. maybe because the previous rider was smaller than me?*sound system including subwoofer sa ilalim (although what the heck am I going to do with a subwoofer beneath the motorcycle?)*modified xrm body*slick (?) wheels*mags*muffler pinalaki (please enlighten me what this is for)*DuPont painted body 10,000 km according to the odometer thanks for any input Quote Link to comment

I think what you meant here is the larger disks available for the front wheel. stopping power increases because of this. around an added cost of 1 - 1.5k.*modified handle bars (?) pababa ang angle.. maybe because the previous rider was smaller than me? ---> you may have to adjust this to your preference bu take note that this is prone to losing control over your ride at high speeds. SAFETY FIRST!!! around an added cost of 1 - 1.5k.*sound system including subwoofer sa ilalim (although what the heck am I going to do with a subwoofer beneath the motorcycle?) ---> personally i think it is stupid to put a stereo system in your cub. around an added cost of 1k.*modified xrm body ---> modified body kit mostly made of fiberglass resin. around an added cost of 1.5 - 2k.*slick (?) wheels ---> original tires were uses the all-purpose thread. Slick tires are for street only. around an added cost of 1 - 1.5k.*mags ---> depending on the brand but i guess they already used tubeless tires for the cub. around an added cost of 3 - 6k.*muffler pinalaki (please enlighten me what this is for) ---> OPEN PIPE, supposedly increases engine power by increasing the A/F intake capability. please note that it maybe noisy for some people (i do) and some areas (like Makati and Antipolo) are banning the use of such pipes. but depending on the brand i guess it is worth around an added cost of 2 - 5k. *DuPont painted body ---> depending on the finish around an added cost of 6 - 8k. you can actually estimate for the market value by adding the above modification cost to the current price of a B/N xrm minus the depreciation of the unit... btw just make sure the bike is properly documented. you may have found a bargain but fencing is a criminal offense. hehehe. gud luck hunting!!! I already got the documents for it. Actually rode it yesterday and today going home and on my way to the office. it actually took me less time to travel as compared to a car; take note hindi ako lumulusot lusot. I am still in the mindset of using a car so what got me "nabigla" was the realization that a full tank of gas costs around Php100.00. Gosh.. 1/10th of what I spend for gasoline; hindi pa unleaded yun! Blaze pa. Nyahahaha. Of course, safety lagi ang nasa isip ko ipapatangal ko yung subwoofer sa motorcycle. in my opinion it is a useless appliance. Quote Link to comment

blurredyu
Hello, am anewbie to this thread, as well as to bikes, I plan to buy one, can someone please give some suggestions on my short list below below CBR 250 1989 model, goo dcondition according to owner - 90TCBR 400rr 1990 model, 138t good condition also according to owner ltte 80's, 89? VFR 400 120t , hehe, one of you posted this, theres also one for 150t same model. Also when buying the bikes above what should I watch out for ? are there still parts widely available for those old models ? meron bang mechanics or shope na mahusay mag ayos kung masira, yung trusted na di ka lolokohin ? I plan to use the bike for going to the office instead of a car, I know the dnagers though, kaya ingat nalang... I seem to prefer the cbr 250, nice loooking and well maintained pero kaya ba ng small engine yung every day commute from marcos hway in antipolo to Makati ? and isnt this small engine not allowed on the NLEX and SLEX ? I feel the bike might be too small for me. isnt at least a 400cc a more respectable bike among the sportsbike clubs ? , question lang po... hope someone can help me out, thanks Quote Link to comment
Guest Leviticus
Because of a bike: 1. bumili ako ng jacket para iwas araw (weird..)2. bumili ng relo because I can't tell the time by simply looking at my cellphone3. bumili ng kadenang aso to chain the bike4. bumili kapote because of the rain5. bumili goggles para iwas puwing6. mention that you bought a motorcycle and people would start the "may kaibigan/kamaganak ako na naaksidente sa motor" stories however:1. you can claim being late on account of the rain2. going through traffic is sooooooo cool (as compared to driving a car)3. gasoline expense is not too much of a bother (grabe, Php120.00/week)4. chix love the bike :* 5. no longer do I have to leave for the office 2 hours before my shift6. did I mention that chix love the bike? question lang. is the bike included in the number coding along edsa/makati? Happy New Year! Quote Link to comment

I suggest do some practice kasi mahirap talaga ihandle ang BIG BIKE lalo na bigger displacement baka tumilapon ka kapag hindi mo nakontrol ang silinyador well its upto you kung yung mga bike lang na sinabi mo ang pagpipilian go for CBR400 at sama monaren SUPER4 may mga parts nyan rito I guess. at ang pwede sa express na motor ay above 400cc na motor 200-250cc minsan nakakadaya pero much better kuha kanalang ng 400cc at again take much time to practice. Already got the gloves (full gloves and fingerless gloves), padded jacket (an old leather jacket), 1 full face helmet and 1 cheap helmet para sa mga ankas (na babes), 2 goggles din (one clear, one tinted),nose filter, arm bands. next on my list ay kapote para sa ulan it is only now that I felt the the roughness of EDSA. grabe, super uneven pala ng daan. bawat patches, bawat cracks, bawat butas ramdam ko. decided that maximum speed ko should only be 50 kph. one very big advantage talaga ang gas consumption. imagine.. I only set aside P120 for 1 week, 500 in one month Quote Link to comment

I only set aside P120 for 1 week, 500 in one month advantage din yung wala masyado trapik, ang mga motor kasi titigil lang kapag nakita na naka-RED ang STOPLIGHT. wag po tayo maging pasaway kasi madami ang nagbebeat ng red light sometimes it will cause an accident. at isa pa pala ingat po sa paglusot at pagsingit dapat 10-20km/h lang ang speed. sa edsa naman OO dami din lubak dyan pero i will suggest na kapag malapit kana sa lubak wag ka muna magbrake kung kaya mo sagasaan mo nalang yung lubak kesa madisbalanse ka or magslide kapa kapag umiwas sa lubak. always wear safety gear.
