Ei! A thread for the Utah Jazz.. About time..

I like the way they are playing as of now.. If Boozer stays healthy.. even without AK47.. I think the Jazz would be okay.. IMHO, Okur and Boozer are the real heart and soul of the Jazz.. Kirilenko provides the hustle and will surely be missed.. But they still have Matt Harpring.. And don't forget Deron Williams.. who seems to be having a great sophomore season..

CJ Miles, and Millsap are a surprise.. And I am surely excited with Ronnie Brewer.. I have seen some of his highlights and I am telling you, I think he is arguably the best athlete in this year's draft.. I just hope he receives some more playing time..

BTW, Welcome to the sports thread, F.F!!!

hello boss revi ! thanks for welcoming me and the thread.

sayang nga as the first jazz game on solar BTV will be 30 november pa.at this stage i have to content myself with watching the espn highlights on my pc as well as the nba highlights on tv.

may highlights ka ni ronnie brewer ? interesting. a lot of experts picked him to be a draft darkhorse. anyway ... he adds on a something which the jazz have had little of ... explosivenesss and athleticism . imagine two years down the road ... d-will and brewer might rank among the league's best backcourt combos.

millsap looks like a true hustle player. might be too early too tell though . once the surprise wears off rest of the league's players wise up he might find it harder to get to the ball.

anyway ... having the best record ( jazz at 7-1 ) in the league is something to really savor and enjoy ...

i've been a jazz fan since the 90s when the stockton-malone-hornacek trio were the essence of the team. and i'm just so happy that their tops in the nba right now. my heart sank when ak47 got injured (again), but like you guys, i'm confident that okur and boozer will lead this team. williams, too, has better stats. he probably has something to prove: that he's better than chris paul. he was of course, drafted ahead of the hornets star.

hey spongebobby ! nice to have another jazz fan onboard! yup ... my love affair with the jazz also started when the jazz met the bulls for those two straight years. re ak47's ankle ... the team is deeper and more confident now and can weather even the temporary loss of the andrei. millsap did a wonderful job ( 4 blocks and two steals ) in the clips game. IMHO ...even sloan has changed a bit ... starting a rookie ( ron brewer ) in a game . re the cp and deron comparisons ... check out the thread below for a stats comparison ( current season only ) between the two.

Under Jerry Sloan, one can't help but appreciate how the Jazz has always played quality basketball, win or lose. Sloan is a classic preacher of practice hard, play hard. Basic basket basketball at its best.

It's very good that the Jazz organization did not give up on Jerry Sloan even after the Stocktone-Malone days.

yeah. i think the jazz are better now. i still wonder, though what would've happened had the gotten danny manning in his prime. i know they could've beaten the bulls. another big what if is ron seikaly. he was traded to (or offered by?) the jazz, but he did not report. instead, he stuck with some bad teams and retired prematurely.

anyway, while i'm happy (ecstatic actually) that the jazz are 7-1 right now, i'll temper my expectations. i can still remember how my hopes crashed in 2004 when they started 6-1. so far, though. they're looking good. very very good.

By far the Utah Jazz are the biggest surprise of the season...

You got Okur.. Kirilenko... Boozer... Harpring... so I figured they'd be competitive but not this good..

Especially when AK47 went down... I didn't expect them to win against the Clippers

And win they not only did... but in a very convincing fashion as well!

they got the mighty "MO" as in momentum on their side. and with three games in the next four days ( seattle , phoenix and toronto ) , we'll see just exactly how good these guys are.

for more on the emergence of deron williams and his comparison to chris paul ... check out this quote from todays SI website:

" No team has started better than the Jazz. While a healthy Carlos Boozer and, for a time, Andrei Kirilenko, have played their parts in the Jazz's 7-1 beginning, perhaps no one has made a bigger impact than second-year point guard Deron Williams. We asked an opposing team's scout for his analysis of Williams' growth and potential.

"Everybody talks about Chris Paul, but I don't know that I wouldn't want Deron Williams as my future starting point guard over Paul," the scout says. "He gives you more things defensively and his body is going to enable you to do more things offensively. He brings it on both ends.

"I'd be OK with him defending almost any starting point guard in the league. Imagine a Chauncey Billups with athleticism, and that's really what he is. He's a power point guard. This year he's slimmed down a little bit, he's quicker. And with an entire year under Jerry Sloan's system, he knows all the intricacies of the offense now."

exquisite card ba yan? cno ung triple logoman? @ revi

Yup.. My avatar is an Exquisite 05-06 triple logoman of MJ, Bird and Magic.. 1 of 1.. Got the picture from e-bay.. --- try visiting the NBA rookie cards thread in the Hobbies section here at MTC..

Going back to the Utah Jazz.. specifically, Deron Williams.. I agree that he is as strong as Billups, but unlike Billups, he won't be shipped from team to team early in his career.. And I think that could just make wonders for his development and confidence.. Comparing him to Chris Paul right now is a testament to his great jump from a so-so rookie year to a (as of now) phenomenal sophomore season.. BTW, Chris Paul is doing great as well in New Orleans but this was expected..

Utah has had San Antonio's number ever since Boozer and Okur came.. For the past seasons, it has been a surprise for me seeing my Spurs succumb to your Jazz time and time again.. TD seems to lose focus that he has to defend Okur even behind the arc.. Guess, ako ang dehado pare..

Therefore, a japanese dinner might be too much.. Kuripot no? Coffee bet na lang.. Then off we go somewhere for a nightcap? Yknow? wink-wink!!!
