If you are caught for a traffic violation here, you will have to claim your license at the LTO Main in East Avenue. If you live far from Metro Manila, like Pampanga, it really is a hassle.

while cruising at around 90-95kph, some speedsters just whizz by me like i'm standing still. next time i see them, they've been pulled over at the toll gate and cited for their violation. doesn't happen to everyone though, probably just those caught in the radar speedtraps

also, slow vehicles pls do not use the overtaking lane kung di kayo mag overtake at kung mabagal kayo.

please stop with this practice of flashing your lights. why? walang standard meaning ang pag-flash ng ilaw.

 

think about it.. example nasa likod ka ng sasakyan na yan and you flashed your lights at him. in this case most likely you are signaling the guy to move to the other lane because you're going to pass him. however, since there is no standard meaning for the flashing lights the other driver may have a different interpretation for the flashing lights or he does not know what it means from your point of view.

Once I drove through NLEX pansin ko ay when I'm at the overtake lane overtaking a row of slow cars (while keeping within the speed limit of 100 kph) meron at merong magiilaw sa likod ko. the irritating part is the jerk won't slow down/keep his distance at TUTUTUKAN PA ako. ano ba yan.. iniilawan na ako. ano gagawin ko? go to the right lane pero nagoovertake nga ako ng rows of cars eh. no choice but to speed up too because the jerk is tailgating me.

 

tapos kapag nabanga ano irarason nya? "I was flashing my lights at you"?

Pressing on the horn button should be the last resort if the flashing of the headlights don't work... I find it rude if they go straight to honking their horns...

 

If all else fails, do both the flashing of the lights and press your horn button at the same time!!!!!

eto magandang example kung bakit we should remove the flashing of lights. why do you find going straight to honking the horn rude? what is your interpretation of the flashing lights?

 

marami instance that the flashing lights ay nagiging contest eh. unahan sa pagflash ng ilaw lalo na kung nasa two way part ka na ng nlex. paano naging contest?

 

I found out what the flashing lights meant when once sumakay ako ng van papunta manila. the driver wouldn't slow down for oncoming cars that were overtaking from the opposite lane. I told him to slow down at panay na lang shoulder running or nakakatakot na almost head-on collision with the other car.

 

ayaw bumagal ng driver. rason nya ay "naunahan ko siya ilawan kaya siya ang magbigay" :thumbsdownsmiley:

after driving to subic one week and laguna the next.. i must say, the NLEX is a billion times better than the SLEX.

 

 

one time, i had a flat tire on the NLEX, pulled over to a call booth, and within 20 mins, i had some highway patrol assisting me.. they changed my tire for me and escorted me to the nearest gas station. good service talaga. the roads are also much much smoother.. making for a much happier driving experience.

 

 

as far as the flashing of lights - in america flashing your lights at an oncoming car means "watch out for cops" (that are probably hiding trying to catch someone for speeding) on the upcoming road. here in the philippines, it's more of a polite way of flashing horns.. for me, i take it to mean - "please get out of my way, kind sir or madam." or something like that.

hayaan mo lang. kahit businahan mo na ayaw lumipat hayaan mo lang. meron namang portions ng nlex that split into 4 lanes. keep your cool.

 

also, he is already below the minimum speed limit. may mga roving patrol naman so huli yan. sobra namang road rage kung pagiinitan mo ang mabagal na driver. malay mo he/she is going slow because of an emergency or sira ang sasakyan di ba?

 

besides, ang problema ko naman sa nlex are those who drive 100 kph and above. the fastest I drove through nlex is up to 95 kph. takot ako mahuli for going above the speed limit. my interpretation of those wanting to go fast and flashing their lights are:

just keep cool and drive defensively. bakit ka nga ba magpapaspas through nlex when paglabas mo ng nlex ay traffic ang sasalubong sa iyo? the few minutes you gained through nlex becomes moot.

 

teka nga ba.. ang minimum speed sa nlex ay 60 kph while ang maximum ay 100 kph, right? so how come I read here that the speed limit "depends"?

kapag may emergency lang ako like nung inakate sa puso ang tito ko at tinatakbo ko sa ospital sabay may hazard lights at pagbubusina. I remember bumaba pa ako ng sasakyan at traffic para sabihan ang jeep na nagloading-unloading sa isang intersection kung pwede ay tumabi siya.

 

flashing of lights.. kasi naman ayaw ko maaksidente. iba iba ang interpretation ng flashing of lights. lumalabas ang attitude na ayaw pumila and wait eh paglabas mo naman ng nlex traffic rin ang aabutin mo (unless late in the evening or early morning ka bumyahe).

 

in your interpretation ay para mambastos ka ng driver to move because you are faster/bigger car. two things may happen: 1) the other car does make way, 2) the other car speeds up to match your speed, may even go beyond the speed limit.

 

all because you don't want to slow down.
