WWE News: Randy Orton apparently fails drug test

Submitted by Brian Cantor on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 3:03 PM EST

The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter notes that Randy Orton recently failed a WWE-issued drug test.

According to the newsletter, Orton is one of WWE's "non-suspensions." The "non-suspension" reference is to WWE's amendment to the wellness policy, which removes the stipulation that a wrestler who fails a drug test will be pulled from the road for thirty days.

The policy, changed in response to the SmackDown! roster scare from two months ago, now calls for wrestlers to be docked pay and bonuses for thirty days after the failed test. They will continue working television and pay per view events but will only receive travel expenses.

Such wrestlers will almost always be removed from house show lineups.

Critics have attacked WWE's new policy, arguing that it favors business over health—the very opposite of WWE's supposed intentions in instituting the wellness policy.

WWE News: Backstage talk of a DX vs. nWo feud

Submitted by Brian Cantor on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 2:34 AM EST

Although the DX vs. nWo rumors first started when a fan circulated a photoshopped Survivor Series poster around the Internet, PWTorch.com reports that there is legitimate talk of running the angle.

WWE sources deny that there are any plans to bring Kevin Nash and Scott Hall in for such a feud, but they are acknowledging that the idea has been informally proposed in some circles.

At this point, the angle remains a longshot, but the Internet discussion of the feud (and the availability of Nash and Hall) could make it a reality.

More on DX vs. nWo idea, Scott Hall looking to return

Submitted by Brian Cantor on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 4:58 AM EST

Scott Hall has resumed training and, according to the Wrestling Observer, plans to pursue a pro wrestling comeback.

He and Sean Waltman have been talking about pitching the idea of a DX vs. nWo feud to WWE. As was recently reported, there has been informal talk of the angle in some WWE circles, but it is not yet under official consideration.

If WWE rejects the nWo idea, Hall intends to seek a job with TNA. Seemingly tipping the scale in TNA's favor, outside of WWE's thoughts of the nWo storyline, is the fact that Hall doesn't want to travel full-time.

TNA News: New details on Kevin Nash's falling out with TNA

Submitted by Brian Cantor on Tuesday, September 12, 2006 at 12:22 AM EST

When Kevin Nash pulled out of a TNA PPV match with Chris Sabin due to injury, speculation suggested he was faking (or exaggerating a minor condition) the ailment to get out of doing a job for Chris Sabin.

Reports from various wrestling sources, however, made Nash seem less like a villain. The word at the time was that the booking for the match called for Nash to dominate Sabin for the entire bout, only to be pinned in a fluke finish. If he were faking (which is certainly not confirmed), the reports suggested that he wasn't doing so out of refusal to put over the X-Division wrestler.

The Wrestling-Observer Newsletter, however, says that there were never plans in place for such a match format—the sheet says that, from day one, the angle's goal was always to put Sabin over as a legitimate star.
