been having some trouble sleeping and it's starting to affect the quality of my runs. my chest actually hurt this morning.

so instead of my usual soundtrack, i ran to classical music this morning...schubert's ave maria, to be exact...perfect for death throes.

can you guys run on 4 hours of sleep?

to answer your question: YES (usually less than 4yrs of sleep, or no sleep at all)

when i started running, i was on 2-11pm saturday workshift... usually nde na ako natutulog after my shift, diretso na sa takbo ng sunday umaga (swerte na kung makaidlip/power nap ako ng 30mins)

stay lang ako sa office, nagrerelax lang (either movie marathon or sound tripping) .. then stretching/warm up by around 3am

although nde sya advisable talaga (running w/out a decent sleep).. kaya wag nyo ko tularan :P

sorry to disappoint you....but yes i once joined a marathon with only three hours of sleep (5 k nga lang)...and yes that is not advisable....i just can disappoint my son who was eager to join that marathon...and of course, my time was way off my average! ...and also yes...hindi ko na inulit!

Well for me 6 - 8 hrs of sleep needed before going for a run...

Kapag kulang sa tulog, madaling tumaas ang heart rate :(

Anyway if Im running below 10k, I usually sleep 9pm and wake up at 330am and travel to race location

16k and beyond, I sleep at 8pm and wake up around 1230am eat a heavy meal, and sleep again

It works great on me... :)

I'll be running Unilab Run United 3 this September, hope I can beat my record :)

@dungeonbaby -- nice to know your issue w/ sleep deprived running is now resolved :)

pero just to answer your question (sorry late ko na nabasa)..

and you can keep that up for weeks at a time and run okay?

no bro. nagagawa ko lang sya pag may running event, pero that's usually weeks apart (usually 2-3weeks)

in between events, nde naman ako tumatakbo ng puyat. i keep myself fit by playing bball on sunday evenings

no runs since RU2 last June...

but this coming September, my three straight weeks of long runs will happen...

Sept 16 -- RU3 (medal pie completion) -- 21km

Sept 23 -- Rexona Run (supposed to be this august) -- 21km

Sept 30 -- Adidas King of the Road (I'll never miss this run no matter how expensive it is) -- 16.8km

Oct 14 -- 7-11 Run (if this was not posponed, I could have registered to Men's Health) -- 21km

Oct 28 -- Phil. Marathon -- 21km

Oct 31 -- Midnight Run -- 10km

already started practicing after these monsoon rains...

recovery also always happens after events at a spa in Paranaque.... =)

Yes sir ppdd... I'm the same guy from orange board (and almost all boards)...

medyo lurker lang talaga ako dito sa blue board...

yup hanep talaga ang line up ng events na yan at masakit din sa bulsa...

I have to sacrifice some spa budget, to have a reason to go to spa... =)

My best time for 21km is 2hrs 7mins - RU1 2012

My last 21km RU2 is 2hrs 8mins 20secs

Hoping to be on 2hrs and 5mins this coming RU3... just starting to practice again running

This afternoon tried to have a long run .... I did 14km in 1hr 32mins approx. 6min 32secs/km

Just a question for runners.... where do you usually practice running?

Me... I practice at a nearby cemetery.... 1.1km per lap laugh.gif but if I wanted to for track I go to Marikina Sports Complex

But I really like to practice at BGC.... there are a lot of nice and beautiful things to see wub.gif (but need to a cab or a car for me to go there)

Where do I usually practice?

1. Here in cavite where I live... along aguinaldo highway (about 6km)

2. pag nasa manila (paranaque)

-- MOA Complex (5am-730am)

-- Sm Sucat / C5 extension (5am-730am)
