caloyski65
Hi dude! i saw you built a P-51D bubble top!try painting it! ganda ng choice mo for the plastic kit. tons of details. Here's some tip. try to do search for pics for a subject to your model. i once had a couple of P-51Ds.one was Chuck Yeager's Glamorous Glenn III. used SNJ buffable silver. looks fine. had to paint the nose yellow and red by masking the cone with masking tape and white glue. the other was the 1:72 PAF P-51D. the "Shark of Zambales" though its difficult to create decals without a decent printer and decal paper, i suggest painting the markings. the PAF insignia is not difficult to recreate. If you can render the tail insignia by yourself congratulations to you. well, you can always print the insignia found on the net. here are some images for inspiration. http://img207.imageshack.us/img207/1134/shark2xd3.jpghttp://img98.imageshack.us/img98/5844/shark3es0.jpghttp://img98.imageshack.us/img98/460/shark4ht3.jpghttp://www.paf.mil.ph/Gallery3/images/p51-1.jpghttp://img207.imageshack.us/img207/2382/sharkwh4.jpghttp://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m45/milspec/scan0002.jpghttp://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m45/milspec/scan0007.jpg i will look for the pics of my model before i sold them... BTW. be careful when painting over the canopy. it tends to get blurred. try to look for some NOVUS plastic polish. i doubt meron ganun dito sa pinas. test your luck though, this is the best item for plastic modelling. Dre, It's true that Chuck Yeager was one hell of a P-51D pilot kaya maraming hanga sa kanya at kaya nga maraming gumagamit ng paint scheme ng P-51D nya sa mga scale models. Although wala pa akong nasisimulan na mapinturahan sa mga nabuo kong model kits and its already piling up. Sa P-51D Mustang ko eh ang balak ko dun is the paint color used by the first African American P-51D pilots or better known as the "Tuskegee Airmen". It was only a couple of years ago when they were given full recognition by the American government sa mga contributions nila during World War II dahil sa discrimination. Di lang alam ng marami na mas marami pa silang accomplishment at mga na recieve na honors compared dun sa ibang American White Pilots. They earned the respect of the German Luftwaffe Fighter pilots sa mga skills nila and when these negro pilots went to Europe to do fighter escort duties sa mga Allied bombers ay never once they lost any bomber planes na pinoprotektahan nila. Their P-51D Mustangs has a distinction para ma identify sila na "colored pilots" which is a red tail fins at flaps. Caloyski Quote Link to comment

caloyski65
Nice!! All around ka din pala. Armor and plane builder. Armor & Planes palang ang nasimulan ko pero i'll be moving into others like ships or whatever basta ma kumpleto ko na yun mga nasa wish list kong mga battle tanks, self propelled tank destroyers, armored vehicles, fighter & bomber planes, anti-tank guns.....Parang na aadik na nga yata ako sa hobby na ito dahil may binili na naman akong 2 planes (Spitfire & Stuka dive bomber/tank buster) na pag aabalahan ko sa day-off ko.......The truth is, more than 2 months pa lang ako sa hobby na ito pero parang bihasa na ako sa pag build (except for painting dahil di ko pa na try even once). Ace Pilot and also the first pilot to break the sound barrier. Test Pilot sha ng NASA. Tuskeegee Airmen is COOL! may napanood akong movie about them. Magandang subject for your plane plus the movie adds onlookers interest kpag nka display na. Known as the RED TAILS yata yun. sila lang may color schemes na ganyan kasi before. hindi pinapayagan ng mga White americans maging Pilot ang Black people. TUrned out sila yung naging best squadron sa WW2. IF you need tips or help with your P-51 ask ka lang. Quote Link to comment
Boelcke
Nice creations, Caloy! Your collection is really growing! Hey, if you guys are real Chuck Yeager fans check out the film "The Right Stuff." Excellent film! Quote Link to comment

Boelcke
Caloy, Theres a store in Makati Cineman Square (Hobbies and Comics), and another one with a few kits in Market Market. I suggest keeping a single scale for your collection. Youd be able to appreciate the size differences of the various makes. I also go for 1/72 for planes. Although I build fast jets. Hehehe! You can also try the shop of Winston, which is Special Toys and Hobbies, they have branches in SM North Mall, Festival Mall, Ali Mall and Virra Mall. They also have this shop cum warehouse in Raon, although I haven't been there yet. Quote Link to comment
