Hope you continue posting in-progress pics. I'd like to try my hand at 1/35 figure painting one day. Bought an old chinese kit with copied Tamiya figures for P50 a few years ago for practice. My Scot friend is coming over soon and he's interested with getting membership in the local IPMS. Who can I talk to about this? Sir, I wouldnt recommend starting with oils and acrylics for 1:35 figures. I would still recommend using tamiya or humbrol enamels which have 10% flat base mixed. I would also suggest getting momiji brushes from deovir at 100php each for the 3/0 and 5/0 brushes. Tamiya acrylics will only frustrate you in figure painting so I wouldnt really recommend them. For oils, there is a rather steep learning curve. You may also try citadell paints and vallejo acrylics but those also have a rather steep learning curve. Goodluck and enjoy your projects! I planned to paint the basic colors in Tamiya acrylics and do the highlights and shadows with oils. Those are the only paints I have with me so I can afford to trash those cheap chinese copies. Ive always wondered why they included a PVC bust in the kit. Its very difficult working with it and painting it. Doc, The clubhouse is located in Pasig. The RC track got a significant amount of space (thanks to quite a number of members buying their demolition derby RC cars, which mostly replaced the enthusiasm for airsoft, hehehehe!), but the working/meeting area is big enough to accommodate the meetings. BTW, rent there four dudes in that trumpeter 2005 kit? How is the quality of that set? I have that set but have put off building it due to worries about the quality. And sanding is out of the question. In terms of quality, its better than the 101st and USMC sets. And worse. The 2005 US Army has PE sets (which I didnt use), so in some ways thats a plus. The poses are a little better, IMHO. But some moldings arent very good. Canteens provided in the kit represent the newer issue, but the molding is exaggerated. Helmets arent particularly well made; in all my Trump figures I ended us re-carving the helmets to make them look better (in this case, I recarved them into MICH 2000). And again, the PVC busts was a bad idea (although the kit provides alternate styrene busts, but without the body armor). Too bad because the proportion vs. rest of the body was really good. One thing the Trump kits have that other kits dont have, though, are the souped/optic'ed M-4 rifles. If you want to make current US Army figures thats the thing you need. The US Army basically stopped using the long-barreled M-16s. Only the USMC uses that now. Quote Link to comment

Thanks for the compliments Superscale came out with 1/72 and 1/48 decals for PAF F-5s, and 1/72 decals for a PAF Mustang. Kaso theyre out of production, and the PAF Mustang set was rather inaccurate. Airfix has re-issued its classic 1/72 BN Islander/Defender kit with Philippine Navy decals (I have a copy of the original issue), but, unfortunately, the reissue has a misspelled "Hukbong Dagat ng Pilipnas" Hi-Decal issued markings for a 1/48 PAF F-86D. And I heard there are aftermarket decals for a 1/48 PAF OV-10 Bronco. Several years ago our club established a Decal Team that studied and, eventually, printed out PAF decals with serials and squadron markings. It included inputs from a member who's a retired PAF General, and from a member who has done artwork for the PAF. Kaso the decal markings produced by the Decal Team have since been used up by the members. Right now our clubmembers do software renditions of PAF and Phil Army/Phil Marine markings. I converted the entire nose, made a new 3-blade propeller, and added hardpoints and rocket pods. Its a PAF 15th Strike Wing bird i made some time ago. Hes been in the hobby less than 3 years, and he could go head to head with me or Jim or SuperMario anyday. And we'd probably get our a$$es handed to us in a platter. This guy's really good, he doesnt even touch aftermarket parts or photoetch! Or maybe "good" is an understatement. Im always looking forward to his next project. We meet in the clubhouse every other month. UP's been our home for the longest time its hard to let go of it. Plus the fishballs are in UP. Maybe Ill invite you over in a meeting scheduled for the clubhouse? Oh, and thanks for the freezer idea on the PVC. It just might work. Although I dont think Ill be getting another PVC-busted kit.
