Dr_PepPeR
Just came from Lil's and the new Tamiya Char B is there! Even the 2 in 1 kits combo of Italeri and Tamiya have just arrived. They also have the new DML Tarawa Sherman, US Halftrack, and Puma available. There goes my christmas bonus. Quote Link to comment

Hmmm let's see if I can still find Zvezda'a T-70. The requirement is that you have to build it and show it to me OOB. All the other kits I will build myself! That's why I have to live till I am 274 years old. Quote Link to comment
Dr_PepPeR
I finally succumbed to my avarice and got the Tamiya Char bis, DML Half-track and Puma. Was looking at Academy's 1/48 CH-53 but I doubt if I could sneak that past the wife. I'm currently building Zvezda's 1/35 T-26. Surprisingly, it's not as bad as I expected, minimal fit problems so far. Sink marks in the suspension and four piece hull are my complaints so far. Have to see how well the vinyl tracks will fit. It looks like a quick build, no major problems yet with it so far. Should be finished by 2007. Quote Link to comment
kinamusha
Haay, nahanap ko in forum na akma sa interests ko, not including girls, of course!!! Hahahaha! I'm also into plastic scale modelling, pero di ako member ng kahit anong modelling club. I prefer assembling US modern fighter planes, the latest I finished was the B-52G Bomber. I also did some US tanks (bradley fighting vehicle) and US naval warships (one submarine - the Ohio Class; one aircraft carrier - the Carl Vinson class) and helicopters (cobra belle, chinook and UH-60) Me problema lang ako, di ko matutunan yung weathering. NAhihirapan ako sa aspetong yun. Recently, I switched to Gundam and Robotech figures. Quote Link to comment

There have been many debates on realism versus artistic license. Try searching the net for Hyperscale, Missing Links, Aircraftresourcecenter, Armorama, Large Scale Planes, Track Links, Perth Military Modeling Society to name a few. You will find great articles as well as spirited debates (to put it mildly) on weathering. Quote Link to comment

Jsenti, Would that be a Lancer Evolution 6 Tomi Makinen Edition? Tamiya, Hasegawa and Fujimi issued Evo 6 kits, but I'm not sure if there's a TM edition. Quote Link to comment

On a side note, the fit of the Zvezda 1/35 T-26 is generally good, only a little putty needed here and there. The rubber vinyl tracks are absolute POS though. I tried to stretch one prior to dry fitting them over the roadwheels but I just managed to snap them in two. So now one set of tracks is in four pieces #$%@^*@$!!! I have no choice except to try to staple them together and try to hide the joins. Looks like this will not make it to this year's IMPS contest. Maybe you can build a diorama and mount the tank with the repaired track segments between the model and diorama so the judges won't notice. Ahh, the challenges of model building. Would anyone know if there are model kits in Toys R Us? I got a whole lot of AMT/ERTL kits from Toys R Us in HK before. Not sure if they have it here. If they do, I'd like to compare their prices with Special Toys. Quote Link to comment

This will be sponsored by Dragon/DML so I'm excited to get first hand info on what they are up to. I was hoping to be able to enter this one instead of the nationals on November. Anyway, it's tougher to do a dio, brings up a whole new kaboodle of model building challenges that makes repairing a broken vinyl track child's play. BTW I managed to staple together the track and tightened the staples with a pair of needlenosed pliers to make them relatively flat. Will paint them before I put it on the wheels since I will have to live with what they look like now. I checked Toys R Us in Galeria, and yes they have model kits but guess what? Lil's supplies them, so there is also a markup. Best to get the kits directly from Lil's. For AMT/ERTL kits, why don't you go visit Winston's shops (Special Toys), he usually has a lot of those old AMT/ERTL kits. For the 1/48 aircraft stuff, Italeri regularly reissues AMT/ERTL kits.
