Wow, akala ko madami na yung 900+ dvds ko. Mapili na ako e. Back in 2003, I'd buy mga 15 a week. Now, mga 4 or 5 every two weeks na lang. I'm looking forward to buying Knocked Up this week.

hey guys....i have a question for you...if you collect pirated dvds - can u really call it a collection? or the the word collection means original dvds only.

 

I got a friend who has around 300 pirated dvds as a collection (good titles good quality) but he isnt proud to tell his friends about his collection. Sabi nya buti na lang kung mga 20 na original na lang binili nya instead of the 300 pirated ones. Do you think he has point?

 

I would like to post the same question to the peeps.. What do you think.. If your collection is mostly pirated, would you still consider it as a worthy collection?

 

My take: In my case, I would consider pirated DVD's as worthy collectibles as well, as long as the quality is good.. I have my own fair share of original DVD's but to be honest with you, some pirated DVD-9's or the DVD's from China are much like the original ones.. Since the introduction of the China-made pirated DVD's, I started to buy several pirated copies again, and I have upgraded some of my poor-DVD-copies to these China-made DVD's..

 

A lot of the films that I have bought, are not released here in the PI.. The Fly, Clockwork Orange, Nails, Monamour, Citizen Kane.. not even in VCD format..

 

And BTW, I also have a lot of original VCD's.. IMO, No one can really say that your movie collection is cheap if they are pirated versions.. Even the rich can be practical right? I can say that I collect movies (and concerts) rather than just DVD's..

 

I really don't count the number of DVD's I have.. A close estimate would be at around 400.. mixture of original and pirated ones.. But siguro walang 1/4 and original..hehehe!!! My VCD collection is at around 200-250 (originals lahat) siguro.. Been trying to collect good films (DVD/VCD format) for almost 7 years now..

 

I don't buy all the movies that I see.. I try to read something about the movie first (usually, in IMDB.com) before purchasing one, but if referred by friends, I would most probably buy one..

 

Currently, I am looking for several movies/docus, namely:

 

1) Rosemary's Baby

2) Hated: GG Allin

3) The Decline of Western Civilization Parts 1-3

4) Sid and Nancy

5) The Devil's Rejects

Recently bought SpiderMan3 2-disc Special Edition, Zodiac and Ocean's 13 at Astroplus.

 

I'm eagerly awaiting the Transformers The Movie DVD coming out next month...expecially the DVD that comes with a transforming box.

Was "Rome and Juliet" (Mylene Dizon and Andrea Del Rosario) released in VCD/DVD?

 

I can't seem to find titles such as "Tinimbang ka ngunit kulang" and "City after dark" by Ishmael Bernal. How I loathe the death of our film industry.

mostly ang collection ko ay mga blockbusters including old and classical ones... e.g. akira kurasawa, hitchcock, godfather, lotr, casablanca, anything and everything basta maganda...

You can try contacting Unitel for that... I think they have website up at cinefilipino,com and they're releasing said titles soon...
