It was actually a thread, there could definitely be a hole there but the black part that showed on the pic is stitching/thread. There was no more available in my size. I decided not to exchange it (diff size). But I would definitely check every detail before buying a new pair of shoes unless their the last pair and I accept the defects when I paid for it.
