camus
Legalize divorce. If church doesn't want to grant divorce, that's the church. The state should grant it. The state should be separate from church. Divorce is not same as separation or annulment. 1 Quote Link to comment
BnF95
Does anyone know the status of HB 2380 filed on April of 2016? Quote Link to comment
BnF95
I am hoping this gets passed as a law. However, I am not even sure if it has passed first reading.Yeah I just checked, the first time this bill was filed was 2005, and until now, 11 years down the line, not once has it passed the first reading because "pro-Christian" groups keep pressuring the lawmakers not to pay attention to this bill. Lawmakers should be impartial with issues touching faith, basing their prerogative in accordance with their own religion is being biased. Entering and exiting marriage should be our own discretion. The state on the other hand should create laws to protect the welfare of the offspring. Edited August 6, 2019 by screaming infidelities Quote Link to comment
camiar
Divorce law will make it easy for married couples to separate. This is not good for the society because it weakens the family as the basic unit of society. The Annulment process, on the other hand, is a difficult process that forces the couple to rethink before they go through with it. Quote Link to comment
haroots2
Divorce Law - the rest of the world has it, why can't we? Are we that religious or are we the only country in the world that the church has control over the state. Quote Link to comment

Are we that religious or are we the only country in the world that the church has control over the state. We have seen the destruction easy divorce has done to the 1st world countries. They have welfare, we do not. Men will become 2nd class citizens and be divorce raped. No man in his right mind will want to get married. There will be no incentive for men to get married if they are 2nd class citizens. Thus no families will be formed. We have to think farther into the future because this is about the fabric of this society. We should think of laws that help IMPROVE the lives of people in the future. It's not about our generation, it's about the future. Our children and grandchildren. Quote Link to comment

haroots2
Our culture on marriage will not change because of divorce. Western culture is different, their culture took advantage ot the law.All other third world countries have divorce law, if it doesn't work for them why don't they repeal or amend the law. Same here, we can repeal or amend anytime we want as long as its justified. Quote Link to comment

It just so happen that the RCC is also against it, but that's beside the point. Our constitution recognizes the family as the basic unit of our society. We should preserve and strengthen the cohesiveness of the family. Divorce will weaken the family as an institution. We have a strict annulment process as a way for legal separation. That should suffice. Quote Link to comment

Its been tested for centuries. Divorce is just an option to those couples that really need to go on separate lives. Our annulment is very strict? Lahat ata ng lalaking annuled is mentally incapacitated. Pera pera din. Quote Link to comment
