Computer Troubleshooting And Repair

Recommended Posts

Here's what I'm gonna do for the last time before I blow this freakin' PC to pieces:

1. Complete reformat (sayang na naman yung na install ko na LOTR and Civ IV)

2. Reinstall WinXP (SP 1)

3. Try PABLING's procedure

If still this won't work, I'll try Win2K and then Win98.

At pag hindi pa rin... Maybe I'll buy a new motherboard.

No need to replace the mobo sir.

Just do a clean reinstall, after installing OS make sure you reinstall the chipset drivers first before anything else.

Tas before trying to connect to the net make sure u have an anti-virus installed.

If the connection fails then try to do the steps I advised. Goodluck chum. ;)

Advice for those who plan to reformat and reinstall OS:

Install Anti-virus and Anti-Spyware FIRST and CLEAN your PC from all those worms, viruses, trojans , spywares, adwares , etc... These things are usually the culprits of non-working internet connections, hanging systems , crashes..

I think the problem is your installer itself. Try using SP2 WinXP. There are some instances here at the office wherein I used SP1 (late last year) on computers. I've noticed that when the motherboard is 775 no problem but nung lumabas ang mga higher socket mobo hirap ang network connection when I install SP1.

The solution was to simply switch to SP2. Ayun... solve ang network connection.

Another suggestion: switch to linux :boo:

It's funny that after these past few weeks parang mas may alam pa ko kesa dun sa PC tech na tumingin sa PC ko. Thanks for the help mga chiefs! Though im still into this ordeal with my PC, I'm not giving up coz I know somehow may solution din to.

It makes sense to clean the system first from spywares, virus, before reinsatalling OS kasi baka nga naiiwan ito. So I'll do this when I get home.

Buti pa tong mga PC dito sa office, kahit na nasa ilalim lng ng mesa na inaalikabok pa at halos di na pinapatay ay umaandar pa rin ng walang problema.

try securing the IDE and power cable connections. make sure the contact points are clean and the cables are tightly plugged.

double-check also if you've set your bios to AUTO-detect your drive. disconnect your other drives (cd/dvd or other hard disks) to isolate the problem.

Goodluck bro, we can only do so much. :thumbsupsmiley: I'm sure eventually makakahanap ka din ng solution and when you do don't forget to share the knowledge. ;)

that's not the problem. I need hardware help here.

Pre most HDDs are disposable. If the cylinders have locked up or some of the components of the HDD have burned out then there's nothing you can do about it... If you know how to open(baklas) your HDD to check the cylinders then I suggest you do it. Siguraduhin mo lang na masasalo mo yung mga springs na tatalsik. As for the ICs and capacitors or other components, even if you bring it to an Electronics technician, he/she would just decline from tinkering with it.

Kahit Hardware Engineer/Specialist sasabihin sa'yong bumili ka na lang ng bago pag di na umiikot yung HDD.

i have a radical move. since sira narin ung HDD mo and you'd like to back up your data. place your HDD in a anti-static bag tas ilagay mo sa loob ng ref for 1-2 days. After 1-2 days make sure you totally let the HDD dry and test. Kung gumana, back up kana since its gonna fail soon.

i was thinking of doing this. www.deadharddrive.com replacing just the PCB.

important kc yung data eh. it's worth years of work. :)

i'll try the inputs, pabling. i've read that in one of my google searches. And iniisip ko baka this is for those hard drives na pumapalya lang.

Mine kc won't spin and can't be detected by bios. Baka lang ma-aggravate yung problem.
