im torn between Dell XPS m1710, ASUS Laptop with intel centrino duo G2S-x3 intel core, HP pavilion laptop with intel centrino duo HDX9010NR Intel® Core™2 , orToshiba Satellite laptop with intel centrino Flare Carmine X205-SLi1

Intel® Core

...Those are a bit expensive around $1700 - $2000....so i must not spend my money into waste..

is there any cheaper laptops that u could possibly recommend with the same features as above? or should I stick with the ones above?

I have a dell XPS series notebook but I liked the ASUS G2S series better so I would recommend that. Does it have to be a notebook? You can't really get a true gaming experience on a notebook and if you try to source the "best" gaming specs then it's going to cost you twice as much. If you can, build yourself a gaming desktop for the same amount of money if not less.

I forgot to add, that although I prefer the Asus. The XPS 1710 outperforms the G2S by 24%.

I'm more than happy to help, it's quite easy in theory, you just plug everything in where they are meant to go and so on...

Like all things it may not go according to plan but this can be avoided by doing a bit of research on every single major component that will go in to this rig.

It's all part of the fun right? anyways my suggestion is to have a clear understanding of what you will be using this computer for and judging by your post above you already have an idea of what you want to achieve.

You also have a budget which is great but do expect it to blow out a little, if you're like me then expect it to blow out by almost double.

Building your own pc is a rewarding experience which can also be frustrating one as well. There are a lot of places on the net that will give you a wealth of information you just have to know where to look.

just give me a yell when you're ready to go in that direction and I'll help as much as I can.

If ur dimms are faulty it could cost ur system to hang up.

Silkroad Online is a 3d game which means. It uses a lot of physical ram to run smoothly.

If either one of the two dimms are faulty it could cause ur system to hang up.

Please state what brand of dimm's are installed in ur unit.

Generic brands has a higher fault rate compared to branded once.

The fact that u ran multiple games at the same time and leave ur unit running for long periods of time.

This types of abuse cannot be handled by Generic RAM.

And last time u used a third party hardware monitoring tool. This gives me an idea that it has somehow mess up with ur system.

I'm using kingston 1GB ddr667 for my athlonx2 and pentium d rig

dang, it helped... im not experiencing the screen freeze thing >_< the gold contacts on one of the memo was filled with dust, no wonder why.. Thankx a lot... ^^

So what u were experiencing is static discharge.

Those dust particle's make it worst.

Try cleaning ur unit with a dry vacuum cleaner (blower function).

To blow away those dust particle's on the mobo.

Remove the dimm's and the VC before doing it.

Ur Welcome ^_^

Your choices are good, $2000 is a big budget for pc hardware especially if it is a desktop. But don't expect much from current high end systems because even the fastest systems with the best video cards can't play some of today's new games like crysis without glitches.
