What's Your Video Card?

Recommended Posts

First up, Great Setup

Second, this is a simplified abstract from a website.

Step 1:

update your mobo firmware... make sure its updated

gigabyte has an online bios updater...easy to use

download coretemp – monitors your core temps – excellent necessary utility - http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

I put this on my system tray

download – speedfan - http://www.almico.com/speedfan.php

good utility if you want to check the fan speeds

download cpu – z – checks stats for cpu – excellent utility - http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php

after windows boot up and overclock I usually use this to monitor results

download 3dmark 06 - http://www.futuremark.com/download/3dmark06/

freeware! I don't mind the waiting during start of this software I do get results

its an old benchmark..and its a pure hardware benchmark not a subjective benchmark for games.

download prime95 – http://mersenne.org/gimps/p95v256.zip

run the .exe

choose Just Stress Testing

choose Blend

or prime95 64bit - http://mersenne.org/gimps/p64v256.zip

download latest drivers for your video card from msi or nvidia

ForceWare Release 169 is the latest release for 8xxx series

download n-tune - http://www.nvidia.com/object/ntune_5.05.54.00.html

this will overclock your video card

or riva-tuner

this will overclock your video card

or use the nvidia control panel – downside to this is once you restart your pc..it won't save the settings on the overclock

after this has all been downloaded...

run 3dmark06 and record your reference numbers...

i'll get back to you on initial overclock settings...

Great thanks for these...will check what will be my numbers...

Just a question though,,, do i need to OC? I mean my techfriend cautions me noit to OC since it will "fry" my mobo and gpu.

OC is a risky thing to do if and only if you're not prepared

mine is OC'ed

OC only if you're adventurous or if you're not satisfied with your gameplay...

cpu 2.66ghz to 3.56 ghz temps are ok..but haven't check the northbridge temps yet

you can't really fry your gpu or your cpu..they have monitors to check if you're overheating already...

download all those stuff first...get the feel of using the above mentioned apps

bro i'm planning to go sli for gpu...any advice if my current gpu coreclock speed is 650mhz and i'll pair this with another msi, the one with copper pipe - MSI NX8800GT 512M OC GeForce 8800 but its core clock speed is 660mhz. Any ideia if this gpu is available in gilmore?

where did you buy your sli bridge or connector?

Why don't you try out Inno 3d I-chill series? They are factory overclocked, designed for gaming, & already equipped with beefed up cooling solutions.

@mike and redfurry

check slizone.com

you can't mix two diffrent gpu cores...

slower clocks will be followed if you have two different cards

you can match two differenct manufacturers...

you have to adjust shader clock as well and the memory freqs

@juzam1

bro my msi is core is GeForce 8800GTS 512M (G92), dapat G92 din or ok na geforce 8800gts
