Im planning to wear braces to straighten my teeth. How much would that cost me? For wow many months would I be wearing it?

Thanks

I had braces in college - two years. When we were looking for the 'right clinic' - the one in QC quoted us at Php 75K while the one in Pque ( the one I eventually got) was only half the price. From what my dentist friends tell me - for budget concerns, you would want to consider (in addition to their work history) the location as well as the popularity of the dentist. I have friends who paid over Php 90K.

Hi...I don't know if the good doc have answered your question but let me try to answer it for you.

I'm not a doctor but I'm a registered/licensed dental hygienist, expanded duty dental assistant, treatment coordinator and among other careers dealing with dentistry.

With regards to your cracking teeth, the best thing to do and for all other oral problems is to get

xrays and that will determine what type of treatment you would need. A full mouth xray is advisable so they can determine other treatment you would need especially if you don't go to the dentist regularly. In doing so, you can do preventative maintenance instead of the costly major treatment.

And will also determine what's causing you to crack your teeth. If budget is your concern, see if you can get away getting an x-ray of that one area you are concern about.

In repairing a crack tooth, if the tooth's intergrity is not being undermined...it's still strong enough to withold and support...a less costly treatment such as a filling- an amalgam (silver) or a composite (same tooth color filling-mostly used for the front teeth) can be done. This is where the xray comes in handy,to determine how far the tooth is cracked. If the tooth is so severely crack or cracked vertically, a crown is most probably be the diagnosis. Don't let the crack tooth be left untreated...baka you might end up needing a root canal treatment and a prefab-post to restore your tooth...mas mahal yan.

Dahil sa hirap nang buhay and lack of good dental insurance in PI, we tend to forego and neglect our dental health and specially our regular dental check-up and cleaning. My advise is the sooner you take care of the problem, the less costly it would cost you in the long run. Preventative maintenance is the key to good oral health.

Last 2 months ago sumakit and ngipin ko pero wala namang butas kasi lahat po ay pinapastahan ko sept last year. So pumunta po ako sa pinakamalapit na dentista, Sabi nya may problema daw ako sa gums, So pinabili nya ako ng Orahex Forte, 500 Pesos 500ml. I mumog ko raw 2 times a day for 2 months. . Ano po gawin ko dito. Ipabunot ko na lang ba and ngipin na to kahit na walang butas o sira?

Maraming salamat s advise nyo....

Sounds like a perio (gum) problem since you can't visually see "butas or sira" sa ngipin mo.

Be careful no matter how tempting of a solution to just "pabunot". It will affect the alignment of your other teeth hence more expensive in the long run to correct and replace those teeth na pinabunot mo. I've seen my share of patients with the same symptoms as you...a good root planing and perio (gum) scaling of that area and most probably in some others will help you. Make sure mag-pa-xray ka muna to determine what's going on...if not a full mouth xray, kahit isang xray of that area. Then go regularly for cleaning...if you have any gum problems go every 3 months until you've gums are healthy again for you to go every 6 months. Home care is essential....brush and floss regularly.

Remember only floss the teeth you want to keep! yun palagi ang sinasabi ko sa mga patients namin.

Hope this helps, from your MTC dental hygienist.

I paid around the same for mine... I was referred by my officemate to their family dentist in Pasig... She eventually became our family dentist as the former one had clinic in Manila, which was quite a drive from Makati.

The good thing with my dentist is she had a payment plan - it was (for me at least) a certain amount up front and then a payment each time I went for adjustment.

may marerefer ba kau na dentist na kayang mag extract ng impacted na wisdom tooth.

sna ung budget friendly, 4 kc papatanggal ko. nagkakalock jaw nko eh.

Hi wali...I know I've answered your query sa pm but just in case other people have the same problem sasagutin ko din dito.

With regards to your lock jaw, it could be due to your impacted wisdom teeth coming in or a more than likely due to TMJ. Panoramic xray is a good way to start to see your wisdom teeth and how they are coming in para ma-diagnose nang doctor kung yan nga ang cause nang lock jaw mo. Another common problem due to lock jaw is due to grinding...TMJ. A simple and less costly to treat TMJ is to have your doctor fabricate a soft acrylic nightguard to wear at night while you sleep (the time you grind the most).

Hope this helps...

Dr Omega,

Lumabas na ang wisdom tooth kaya lang nabulok na ang crown and the root na lang ang natira. Hindi naman masakit. Im over 21 na and in the line of 30. Kung bubunotin ay kilangan na operation to the gum to get the root kasi wala na makapitan ang puller. Do student perform this operation as a on the job training?

For your wisdom tooth problem. wisdom tooth need to be removed for the following reasons:

1. against possible infection (wherein yung gum na naka cover up possible mainfect)

2. to avoid crowding ng ngipin (as your wisdom tooth erupts tumutulak cya sa mga katabing ngipin possible mapektohan nya yung katabi na ngipin.)

3. it may damage the nearby or adjacent tooth.

4. worst case scenario is cyst formation.

the process in removel of your wisdom tooth is called odontectomy wherein it is a minor form of oral sugery. this is usually done by a dentist or in such cases an oral surgeon if the case is difficult. in some instances (simple or ideal cases) dental interns /students may perform such procedure as clinical requirement or ojt basta under supervision of a licensed dental practioner or his/her clinical instructor inside the university's dental clinic/infirmary. with regard to the bleeding baka may gingivitis ka or gum problem which also needs an appropriate dental remedy such as oral prohylaxis. Hope nakatulong me sa prob mo. :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc: :mtc:

Doctor,

My risk is the infection only because the crown can no longer damage adjacent tooth due to decay of the wisdom tooth already. What is cyst formation? What is the remedy for oral prohylaxis?
