Oral specialist and to other dentists,

Hi goodday! I have a fused to metal jacket one on my front tooth and the other is the second tooth from it..One day I went to a dentst planning to have it replaced with a porcelain crown but she offered me compsite build up instead..which did not turn out well..after the procedure is over I found out that she's has just been practicing for less than a year, and I dont want to judge her..but i think hindi pa posya ganun kahasa hindi po talaga maganda ang result..so ngayun Im desperate to find a dentist who can make a good all pocelain crown..masyado po ako partikular sa magiging appearance..kaya nga po i prefer all porcelain para maganada aesthetically wise..I need your help po

meron po ba kayo ma rerecommend na magaling gumawa nang all porcelain?..and kung maari yung reasonable yung price?

Wala pa po kc ako nakikita sa pilipinas nang nakasuot nag all porcelain crown..maganda po ba talaga sya?..to the extent na hindi mo na mahahalata yung difference nya from a real teeth?

and lastly bakit extreme yung pagkaiba iba nang price nila nang maga dentists?..there's as low as 6000pesos per unit..and as high as 30,000 per unit..and averagely ang offer 12,000..pag mas mahal ba ibig sabihin mas magaling?

mag kano po sa inyo ang all pocelain crown per unit?

maraming salamat po!!!

You might need to consult with an orthodontist. He won't be fitted with braces but a removeable appliance will probably be needed for the overlapping teeth. As for the filling, most dentists are trained to deal with children so unless the child has special considerations, you should be okay with your regular dentist. :D

Like in any profession, experience counts not only in determining the price of the services, but also in the quality of the work. More experience allows the dentist to compare more variables and to know what design is more acceptable for many people. Personally, I learn something new every time I work on a patient. :D

One thing about using an all porcelain crown instead of the porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) crown is that it tends to be more susceptible to fracture. I'm not saying that it will fracture tho but in terms of durability a sub-gingival preparation of the PFM crown might suit you instead. If you do opt for an all porcelain crown, you have to be very conscious about biting down on the tooth and more tooth substance will have to be removed to accommodate a thicker crown.

The extremes in prices are dictated not only by the price of labor, but by the materials used and the rates of the dental laboratory that makes the denture. The location of the dental office is also a big factor in determining prices.

Just so you can compare, I sent you a PM for my prices. Ethics prevents me from posting them online. :D

hi guys,

just wanted to ask about the following:

1. which is better for a bad tooth (actually, two front teeth) , to have it extracted or root canal then pasta?

2. which is cheaper, dentures or root canal with pasta?

thanks

Dentists are supposed to, as much as possible, preserve the natural teeth. It would be considered better for a tooth to be retained and restored because maintenance of a denture is more difficult that maintaining natural teeth. As for the price, it will depend on the practitioner but most of the dentists I know will probably charge more for the dentures. :D

yes, i agree...thanks again for the opinion...

two more questions,

- isn't the root canal method painful?

- is there any other method, besides the root canal method, for me to retain my front teeth?

Actually it's a common misconception that the procedure is painful. It is the infection due to extensive tooth decay that causes the pain since the only thing the pulp in the tooth can sense is pain, regardless of pressure, heat or cold. Antibiotic therapy for a few days is recommended before the procedure because an active infection can neutralize the effects of the anesthesia when it is injected. The root canal procedure is intended to remove the diseased or dead pulp as well as any bacteria causing the infection and replacing it with a filling material that is neutral to the tissues and provides a tight seal to prevent reinfection.

Other procedures to help retain the teeth require that the pulp is not infected or extensively exposed. Filling materials or jackets can restore the teeth to the proper anatomy and these are used even after a root canal treatment is performed.

my sister has dentures but she's planning to have a teeth implant. pls give me a range of how expensive it is. thank you.

Whoa! Implants are quite pricey! It's usually $1k per post and a full mouth usually requires at least 8 posts! But then that depends on the case. That doesn't include the denture that comes with the treatment which can cost another $1k. Good luck on the implants. I can refer some good implantologists if you like. :D

proper oral hygiene (proper toothbrushing, flosing and right diet, avoid sweets and in beetween meals)

my dentist told me i dont have to replace my pasta as long as hindi cia sira. tama ba un? or i still have to have it replaced after a certain period of time, tnx

Yes you can but the removal of a filling, especially one that hasn't deteriorated or discolored, can cause partial removal of the tooth structure as well. Since the drilling procedure or preparation already removed the decayed areas, it would not be prudent to risk removing sound structure. Fillings can last from 2-20 years depending on the material and maintenance. :D

hi doc,

just read this interesting thread. i've always frowned the colors of my teeth. so how much does this procedure cost?

hotheat,

There are many ways to get the teeth whiter. The easiest way is to use the commercial tooth whitening products available in the market. They will make your teeth whiter but the effects won't last as long. The more effective way to do this is to have your teeth bleached in a dental office. Not only does it last longer, the dentist will make sure all of your teeth are evenly whitened. So if some of your teeth are darker than others, after the procedure they will have an even shade. :D
