Increasing the penalties for plagiarism. In particular, I'd like to see a crackdown on those selling fake transcripts, diplomas, term papers, etc. along Recto. Corrupting the youth is the first step in corrupting the nation.

Won't this mean that persons who haven't graduated from high school may resort to buying fake diplomas/fake transcripts available at Recto?

 

 

How can the LTO be certain whether an applicant is indeed a bona fide high school graduate short of contacting the school where the applicant claims he/she graduated from? That's a lot of work. Unless LTO has computer systems in place that can access the data base of computers of schools.

 

IMO this is just too complicated to implement. Better to simply subject the applicant to a battery of tests (oral/written/practical). Once the applicant passes these tests, then he/she will be eligible for a driver's license.

The first impression a foreigner has of a country is its airports. The sad state of our airports particularly the NAIA, the country's premier airport, belies the slogan that it's more fun in the Philippines. It's more "it's not fun in the Philippines."

Mantakin mong one baggage carousel is like serving 4 to 5 different flights?! Inakupo! Halos 2 oras ako kaantay ng bagahe. Hindi lang yun, kaming nasa loob na nagaantay, naglilimahid na sa pawis, dahil kahit airconditioning hindi gumagana. Ang taas ng humidity sa loob. Pati mismong nanay ko na nagsundo that day, inis na inis sa pangit at siksikang waiting area sa labas. Kaya ang dami talagang inis na inis. Kawawa naman yung baggage handlers sila napagbuntungan ng galit ng mga Pinoy na byahero. Pero kung sabagay tama naman eh. Magagalit galit tayo pag tinatawag na pinakapangit sa mundo airport natin, pero sa laki ng tax na sinisingil nila, anong amenities man lang ba napapakinabangan natin? Ako na lang, sa tuwing gagamitin ko NAIA airport, kelangan ko maghanda ng mga 2500-3000 para bayaran travel tax, terminal fee, etc.

A law exempting Filipinos earning income overseas from paying income tax on said income. That includes Filipinos like Manny Paquiao who earn huge amounts overseas but is required to pay income tax in the Philippines.

Plunder shouldn't be considered as heinous and consequently shouldn't be punishable with death. A lifetime sentence is adequate for plunderers. Give the guilty a chance to reflect on the magnitude of their crimes.

Agreed. Anytime blood is spilled in the commission of a crime where the victim is killed, such a crime should be considered as heinous.

Anyway, I am no expert of the law or legislation, pero di ko talaga maintindihan bakit sobrang mahal ang kelangan singilin pag gagamit ng airport sa manila. Dagdag sila ng dagdag ng terminal fee, wala naman tayo masyadong nakikitang significiant na amenities nakukuha. Kung hindi mo binili sa pinas ticket mo, bayad ka pa ng travel tax pag paalis ka na. Pwera pa terminal fee. WTF? Eh bakit naman sa ibang bansa, pag may stop over ka, hindi naman sinisingil pasahero ng terminal fee. Lahat kasama na sa ticket mo. Sa Seol or Hongkong, ang gaganda ng relaxation facilities nila. Sa Seol may libreng shower ka pa! Ayusin talaga nila ito dapat. Kasi ito yung first and last impression na makukuha ng bumibisita sa atin eh.

Nakakatawa na isa tayo sa mga bansa sa asia na may pinakamaraming pinagkukunan ng buwis. And our legislators manage to always find ways to either increase taxes, or find more things to tax on. But they can't seem to find a way to spend those taxes efficiently. Kaya tuloy walang gusto magnegosyo na satin.

Maybe if the airport tax were actually used to improve airport facilities, we'd have a half decent airport. Problem is, NAIA is a microcosm of our government. Ninanakaw lang ang airport tax ng iilan na corrupt officials.

That's because taxes are used by the government to provide services to its citizens. Unlike over here where taxes are paid by citizens like they were slaves to the government which doesn't use the tax to uplift the people.

 

Taxes are more like a tribute in the Philippines. You want to be a Filipino citizen, you must pay tribute to the Philippine government even if you earn your income in the United States. Clear case in point: Manny Pacquiao.

 

Pacquiao gives more to his constituents than the Philippine government ever will.

How about a law where an incoming president or even an incumbent president cannot pardon those convicted of plunder unless the convicted plunderer has served a minimum of 20 years in prison.

 

That way, the president cannot be blamed for being heartless. Since plunder carries a life sentence, the plunderer is already getting a good deal with a 20 year sentence.

 

We won't have a situation where a plunderer like Erap is pardoned after serving less than 10 years. That's a slap on the wrist compared to a life sentence.

 

And of course the imprisonment should take place at a real penitentiary. No house arrest, no hospital arrest, no special privileges, etc. The convicted plunderer shouldn't be shown any mercy such as what GMA did to ERAP.

 

A no-nonsense type incarceration will make even those at the top think twice before stealing from the Filipino people again.

I 'd like to see a law enacted which would grant incentives on the sale of hybrid cars such as removing or at least reducing the amount of taxes imposed on the sale of such cars. This will encourage people to purchase hybrid cars which will definitely have a positive impact insofar as reducing air pollution is concerned. Greater use of hybrid cars will also help conserve dollar reserves.

 

In fact, any technology which will minimize reliance on fossil fuels should be granted tax incentives.

 

Right now, demand for hybrid cars is quite low because they are so expensive.

Even supposedly intelligent senators like Miriam "Brenda" Santiago aren't immune from delivering inane privilege speeches in her bid to be "entertaining." Personally, I think her privilege speeches aren't entertaining but disgusting to say the least.

It would be nice if we had a law or ordinance that will penalize drivers who do not yield to pedestrians at crosswalks/pedestrian lanes. Also we should have a law which does not penalize drivers with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide/serious physical injuries if the driver happens to run over a person in a highway where people are not supposed to cross. Case in point is Commonwealth Avenue where many people are run over after these people attempt to cross the highway. There are pedestrian overpasses for these people to cross.

 

A driver who accidentally runs over a jaw walker shouldn't be liable for his death or injury. He obviously wasn't negligent or reckless. The jay walker was.
