brawler201
He will.... eventually. All boxers do. But not in the fight with Morales. Regardless of the outcome, Pacquiao will still be the big winner. The boastful stance may just be the mental edge that he needs to beat an even more boastful Morales. On claiming that he is the world's best, haven't heard it though, but fortunately for him, there's actually some truth to it. At least top three in the world, according to Ring Magazine and a slew of other respectable boxing bodies and publications. Cut the guy some slack, he has beaten legends, has earned tons of money and gave honor to the country, I guess he is entitled to be proud of what he has done. Though we like our sports heroes to be soft spoken and humble, the fight game is a lot different as you need that added swagger to increase your legend, and hopefully your chances of winning. Believe it or not, regardless of the negative flak that Pacquiao is receiving in the Philippines for apparently being boastful, he is one of the best mannered world class boxers around. A lot of international commentators and sportswriters have nothing but praise for the good naturedness of Manny the warrior outside the ring. Ironic isn't it? On Villoria: he really needs to be humble because he hasn't proven a lot yet. Maybe if he had the extra mojo during his last fight with a supposedly hand picked safe opponent, he would have shown up for the fight and probably still have his crown. And probably lining up for a bigger purse date. As it is, he falls in line again and hopes to get his crack at the big prize. Edited August 21, 2006 by brawler201 Quote Link to comment

fatso8
after nyang talunin si Morales sa November.. bakit di nya labanan yung ibang super feather "kings"?.. ihuli nya na si Barrera.. why not fight St Claire & the other super feather champ? iba kasi meron korona than being known as the best fighter in the world pero wala naman hawak na title..parang, pwede bang maging world's best basketball team without winning/showing a world basketball champ trophy?! brawler201
Another title would be nice but it wouldn't make sense money wise. Everything to lose with minimal gain, a world title that will not affect his earning capability, drawing power at the gates and ability to fight the big guns. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for titles and I want him to win one just as I have said in previous nuerous posts if only to cement his legacy furhter as the best Asian boxer of all time. But at this point, his legacy is pretty much secured and titles will just be icing on the cake. He doesn't need the title to get the respect and the big money fights. And with the influx of titles from the slew of alphabet boxing organizations, the respectability that a title brings is not a big issue anymore to lay claim as one of the best in the world in Manny's case. He is acknowledged as one of the best pound per pound fighters in the world and is the top super feather/jr. lightweight according to Ring Magazine. Sure these are not title giving bodies but ironically are more respected than boxing bodies because the boxing bodies, and the titles that they represent, do not carry all the respect that it used. To a lot of purists, the pouind per pound list and the Ring Magazine accolade can be equated if not considered more prestigous than alphabet boxing body titles in a lot of cases. Surely does in Pacquao's case. He will get his titles eventually, from Barrera. Heck I bet he will even go down to feather to fight Juan Miguel Marquez for a boat load of cash if ever JMM irons out his managerial issues and gets back his legitimate title/s. There's at least one more JMM money making fight. And probably a fight with Chico Corrales at lightweight. Quote Link to comment
fatso8
can Manny bulk up & face Corrales? parang nasa 140-145lbs mga lightweight pag lumaban.. Quote Link to comment
brawler201
Quote Link to comment

WayKurat
I think pacman will loose this fight with morales. He needs this loss as well to put him in place and work harder. Am betting my money on morales. Quote Link to comment
blue_blooded
Quote Link to comment
