Request lang po.... a picture of Manila Ice Plant (tama ba yung name nun?) which

was the first ice plant in Asia which once stood opposite Metropolitan Theater in

Plaza Lawton... survived World War II but not LRT beautification program....demolished

late 70's early 80's can't remember exactly...All that remains now.... isang bodega na

left unattended...should have been preserved by the National Historic commission...

Pag baba ng Quezon Bridge galing Quiapo...turn right dun sana yun..Think of what

someone's edifice complex could ruin...and erase from memory..REQUEST FOR LANG!

Correction lang pards. Iyong tinutukoy mong ice plant was called Insular Ice Plant and tama ka, it was a victim of the LRT 1 construction.

Tnx for the correction willow boy.....lubusin ko na.... do you have a picture of it?

I remember its massive old-manila red brick walls....

Sorry pards, wala akong picture nito e. Ang natitira lang sa 'kin e puro memories of that particular area. Sayang at giniba ito e. I'll keep looking for photos though and will post it on this page once I find one.

ahhh...Manila from way back :)

remember the COD Department Store in Cubao?

the Yuletide Show there was one of a kind

i recently learned (about a year ago) that COD closed shop and was replaced by PureGold...

The concept of the COD Yuletide show was acquired (or bought?) by the Ortigas Company Ltd. and placed in the Greenhills Shopping Center. Even the artists that used to design the COD Christmas extravaganza were transferred to the employ of the Ortigas Company.

just some trivia..... B)

Those were great pics Sir willow boy...they brought back a lot of nostalgia. In the early 70s, ginagala namin yan ng uncle ko from his Reuters office located on the same bldg. where you see the Telegraph office. Pag X'Mas Season, practically all dept. stores along the Escolta strip are all lighted up end to end. Really miss those times...
