  1. What is "pasabache" Senyora? I've been out of circulation for so long that I could hardly differentiate alcohol and work!!!

Oh it's just this brand of turkish glassware that has the most irritating ad over at ETC channel and I have sworn sa inis na bibili ako ng isang pasabace na baso

Ms. Lips! Absatively! I have been plotting a return to Manila these past few months and if I can get my next round of travel approved, I will defintely be dropping by. Right now its looking like around the end of August. If I can, I will bring a bottle or three.

 I really like the part about bringing a bottle or three ..... ha ha ha parang pass go and get out of jail for free sa monopoly. Anyway, let's let's let's please all catch up when you are in town. My place is still up for grabs should you guys want to have it here. :)

I missed you guys. Those who came were mostly friends and fellow artists. Some friends didn't make it also but promised to drop by next week. Please let me know by text when are you planning to drop by so we'll also be there. The gallery closes at 5pm. We're planning to have a closing party on the last day of the show (August 18).

Will try to go before the show ends. Next week is a bit harrowing as am nervously following the verdict of a certain trial.

I doubt anybody trapped in a wine cellar would ever want to come out...but that's just speaking for myself :upside:

:P So bods, who have you been trapped with in the cellar lately?

floppydrive! Haven't seen you in the thread for ages, hope all is well with you. :)

Ola ola ola to all the visitors of the thread. Thanks for sharing your tasting notes, I will definitely try and hook up with those bottles  I haven't had any recent wine adventure but I remember this decent drop I had some months ago and the what a beaut for under 400pesoses!! Check out Angove's Butterfly Ridge Spaetlese Lexia. It is sweet, crisp, and quite fruity-flirty which makes it really easy to drink and leaves the palate feeling sweetly clean. ;)

  2. Mr. Agxo3 hello!!! :) Failed to greet you some pages back. So are we finally going to have the pleasure of your ebullient company live soon in Manila? Volunteering my backyard patio for us to get together (basta umulan para malamig since the house isn't centrally airconditioned ) with the gang if and when you get here :)

Pareng Storm, sorry I was not able to drag my 200lbs butt to your opening last night because I couldn't find someone to accompany me (belat to Bods and Masi albeit Masi had a valid reason). I'll probably drop by on my own some lonely afternoon (naks, can you hear the violins in the background?) and hope you and Mrs. Storm are there. :) Am sure it was successful as your previous exhibits have been.

Good Friday Vino Winos! The weather has just been absolutely lovely for sipping an intense red and am going to do just that tonight... with or without a drinking mate! Salut!

  3. I completely agree!

    Have a great weekend folks!

    Announcement:

You are cordially invited to the opening of my first solo sculpture exhibit for the year 2007. Please pass on the invitation to your family/friends who may be interested in the arts. Thanks and see you there.

Ehermmmmm eto na pagkakataon ko ipamukha ang aking 200lbs butt! I'll be there!!! What would be the best time to catch you guys there?

It's like being camped out, sleeping in your tent, then waking up in the middle of the night to see the Northern Lights for the first time - maybe that was the effect of your post. Everyone was just dumbstruck, and most probably starstruck, to give a quick reply :upside:

I bet you wouldn't know if it's a bad wine if you taste it on the lips of Mrs. Brad Pitt

well it's still not Seattle weather. It rains then the sun comes back with a vengeance. Bad weather for storing wine hehehe

I remember somebody else saying that rains are her favorite, because...but that's another story and does not belong to this wholesome thread lol....

    AWARD BODS!!!!

And yes, Mrs. Brad Pitt is way tempestuous not to consider.

My wife and I went to Barolo @ Serendra last Saturday. This place is a quaint wine bar with a moderate Italian (some French, Argentinian, and Chilean) wine selection. After much discussion with the sales staff, who were alright in at least telling me their "best sellers", my wife and I decided to get a bottle of Luigi Leonardo 2003 Chianti. Per label, this Chianti was a blend of Sagiovese, Canail Nero, Trebbiano and Malviasia grapes. Visually the wine was inviting with its mid crimson color.

Nose was lively and floral. It had the flavors of ripe cherries. Tannins were moderate and "legs" were pretty long with 12.5% volume alcohol. No peppery or oaky spice. Finish was good.

Pricewise this bottle was good value.

I have to commend Barolo for their exquisite stemware.

Hmmm pasabache ba yung baso nila?

I've had the Leonardo Chianti twice already and they were consistently good -- and man, the legs on that drop were as long as Julia Roberts' legs! Hope to see you. Ms. Liberty and Bods on Thursday! :D

  4. Wow :boo: Nice avatar mareng lips.

I don't believe it's 200lbs. To see is to believe. Hehehe!

O pareng boomouse, let's have an eb within the week.

Pareng Storm naman, 5million years na itong avatar ko anoh! Ngayon mo lang napansin?

Come now, a liplock from whom would it take, then, to mask a bad wine? Everyone has a "price..."

Personally, reconstituted Greek amphorae-gelled wine would taste just dandy to me as long as I got to sip it out of Morena Baccarin's navel, or licked from betwixt Monica Bellucci's cleavage... :P

ha ha ha ... Darling, agreeing to drink bad wine from the lips of Brad is different from deluding myself into believing I am drinking good wine! :P Not even Brad's lips could hold that much magic. But hey I would drink bad wine from Brad's lips!

I got introduced to wine during a strayed visit to a Santi's branch looking for German sausages. The Santi's lady strongly recommended a Cabernet Sauvignon from Chateau Los Boldos (it was below P300 many years back).

It truly is an excellent first step into the journey and adventure of wine appreciation. If I had mistakenly drank a really bad wine, I would probably have sworn never to touch wine again...

My favorite entry-level wine now is La Planta (P500) from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. The new release is available now in Wine Depot outlets.

Let's go on with the EB and continue our debates there! Meron ba dito Merlot haters like that guy in Sideways? :goatee:

Am not fond of Merlot but strangely the CabSavMerlot went down quite well when I had it. :)

The 'ol reliable Bacchus is still there at 6750. Enjoy!

Wow, this forum is getting more popular!

This thread has always been very popular with many shy lurkers. I wish a lot of them would come out of the closet or cellar so to speak and start posting their vino experiences here :)

    Wine Drinker here :thumbsupsmiley:

Welcome jeter08! So tell us about your fave drop :D

  5. I was about to post last week that naligo naman ako --- parang wala nang may gusto mag post after I posted. Ha ha ha.

Seriously, just let me know when and I'll haul my 200lbs ass over (Pareng Storm, I stand corrected ... hindi 300lbs ang ass ko kundi 200 lang. Yung buong katawan ko ang 300lbs!) -- I just hope the chairs at the meeting place will be sturdy enought to support all that weight.

I'll bring a bottle or two of those whites I've been flirting shamelessly with. :thumbsupsmiley:

I bet if you drink Carlo Rossi in a park bench with some special lady facing San Francisco Bay it would not taste that bad.

Not even a liplock with Brad f*cking Pitt can mask the taste of bad wine.

:P Hello Bods ... the rains are here again. It's my favorite time of the year. :)

  6. Am back! Yes that is my big back

The prodigal wino returns! Not for long but long enough to say hello to my fave people on the board. I have missed you guys so much (I've been missing my sanity too lately! ha ha ha)!!!!!!!!!!!! Eversince I started working on this certain beverage account my life has gone haywire. Imagine, my relationships with Jack and the two Glenns are totally on the rocks (pun unintended). I've somewhat been in hiatus from the reds as I find it a tad intense now (or maybe I just haven't had a nice Brooke Burke quality lately, I sure could use a drop of Tyler right now) and have taken up totally flirting with the whites from Kiwi land. And now am talking gibberish!

Seriously, haven't had a drop of good red lately (as my ex boss fondly puts it, maraming lasang pang hugas ng paa) but I am totally smitten by the Monkey Bay Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. I know, kinda bit sissy for a drinker like me but I just love how refreshing it is to the palate, how the fruity taste just flirts oh so sweetly with my lips and beyond. The clarity of the wine must be psychological too I think. I just get awfully giddy thinking about it. Hehe.

Hope you have all been well Senyors Bods, Masi, Agxo3, floppy and Senyorita Liberty and Mrs. Storm. I hope to see you all very soon (but not until I shed the 300lbs I have gained in the last 6months bwahahahahahahaha). Ola too to all the wino residents who have taken to loving this thread since I last visited. Wishing you all a very wanton week ahead. Cheers! :*

  7. Folks, if your just going to post things like "wala", "lahat" and "kahit sino" please don't post at all, it just wastes space and doesnt follow the intent of the thread.

Mods, kindly clean out all of the above mentioned useless posts

Hi guys, please note that the above rule applies to this thread as well. :P Replies to this thread should be the handle of an MTC member/s (and not a communal answer like "gusto kong maka date ang mga taga AA, Boarding house mates, PP, kakulitan sa mtc world, etc.)

Replies like secret, wala, di ko alam etc are considered off topic and will be deleted. Persistent posters of this nature will be given warnings on their bars. :hypocritesmiley:

Hi, where exactly along Banawe is this place? Sorry am a little geographically challenged in this are of the metro and would greatly appreciate a landmark. I luv luv luv kuchay dumplings and don 't know other places that have this except from Dec Pie. While on the subject of kuchay dumplings, would anyone know of other places in the Banawe area that offers this? Pref the all kuchay (sans meat) dumpling?

Thanks mucho in advance for the reply :D

  9. A few minutes away from yesterday

    A few minutes into today

And all tomorrow plus a day

    My heart,

Just quickly before I sleep and before the words become embedded in my own, I want you to know that I remember. I remember everything. That heavenly salad, the unlit cigarette, the fraction that brought you ineffable joy. I also remember the things that were not on the menu, the willful discarding of urbanity and the delicious hours before the stars went to sleep. And how could I ever forget the cursing of hours spent apart only to make love to you over and over until you were whole again.

Hush. I have not forgotten. Your desire has become my desire-- to enter your heart completely, still, is only exceeded by the desire to make you happy. This is why I love you in all days, all days good and bad.

Rest well with these thoughts tonight my heart, sleep well with my arms around you. You are so beautiful.

    Tu m'embrasse.

  10. All The World's A Stage

    All the world's a stage,

And all the men and women merely players:

    They have their exits and their entrances;

And one man in his time plays many parts,

His acts being seven ages. At first the infant,

Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.

And then the whining school-boy, with his satchel

And shining morning face, creeping like snail

Unwillingly to school. And then the lover,

Sighing like furnace, with a woeful ballad

Made to his mistress' eyebrow. Then a soldier,

Full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard,

Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,

    Seeking the bubble reputation

Even in the cannon's mouth. And then the justice,

In fair round belly with good capon lined,

With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,

    Full of wise saws and modern instances;

And so he plays his part. The sixth age shifts

Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,

With spectacles on nose and pouch on side,

His youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide

For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,

Turning again toward childish treble, pipes

And whistles in his sound. Last scene of all,

That ends this strange eventful history,

Is second childishness and mere oblivion,

Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything.

Bill, just AS YOU LIKE IT, all farce and pretend.

The blind is always blind, the deaf always deaf, the mute always mute and the rat always has no idea.

  11. You know what pains me? That you could not extend me the same courtesy of concern and friendship at a time I needed it most. Am really not one to turn on the D.I.D. turbo boost but is that what it takes?

Perhaps we really aren't friends afterall, it was just my delusion. And no, this isn't the part where I finally give you my award-winning performance in a D.I.D. role. I'm just speaking from a place stripped of all veneer, more naked than the layers of the D.I.D. dramas you are accustomed to.

And just like everybody else, you don't know me.

  12. Dear Angels,

Thank you for being you this week. Without knowing what I was going through, your words of concern came just at the right time-- at the end of a long day with me hanging at life's tattered threads.

And while there will never be enough words to express my gratitude, please accept the happy moments I send you this week as an expression of it. A small sacrifice on my part but well worth whom they are going out to. May they be the small miracles you need in your life right now.

Till then, walk in sunshine always my angels.

    -L-

  13. Dear God,

Thank you for the angels you sent me this week. Keep them and those they love safe and happy, give them some of the happy moments you intended for me.

A special prayer goes out, too, for a troubled soul. Give this soul some of the peace of mind you planned for me.

And for those I love, I would gladly give up all the good things you meant for me so you could give it to them but I know you never make things work that way but just in case it's possible I'm putting in that request too.

Thank you for always listening to my prayers and thank you for all your blessings.

    -L-

  14. How much for the incanto? Planning to get one as a gift.. ^^ Incanto is the newest fragrance of Ferragamo right?

Yes, there's Incanto Dreams and Incanto Charms tho I prefer the scent of Charms. I bought the 30mL bottle in Rustan's for 2.4K. As it turns out you can get the 50mL bottle for 2K in Cash and Carry  Talk about lousy timing for me. ^_^

  15. Wow a thread for scents! ngaun ko lang nakita to! ^^ As of now, pag umaga I use Eternity summer.. Sarap daw kase amuyin.. Tapos pag gabi, HUgo Boss soul.. I wanna try RL Black.. My current favorite is Davidoff deep.. I also use Carolina Herrera Aqua.. ANy news about the new fragrance of Ferragamo? UNg incanto.. Bango daw e.. ^^

I've just finished a bottle of Incanto Charms and man, it is one clean, fresh and lightly sweet scent. Heaven  The only thing is the scent doesn't seem to linger very long (similar to Secret Wish). But I reckon all in all really worth it. And the smell it leaves on your clothes as the day ends..... just deliciously clean :)

  16. do not touch me

    in those cold, empty places

where distress has replaced love's caress

do not breathe on my heart

and will it back to life

do not coax a smile from the depth of abandonment

do not give me back my dreams

    my naive innocence

    my boundless hope

    do not teach me again

how to sing a love song

without crying over that which never was

    just do not.

i will not be able to resist you.

    -L-

  17. Dear Ikaw

    JUST DO IT INDAY! :thumbsupsmiley:

Don't be like that song of Dianne's (ya know, para kang sirang plaka chuva). Promise, you won't regret it.

Stone stone in heaven, don't be galit if you get hit.

    lovingly yours,

    Cooking Ng Ina Mo. :hypocritesmiley:

p.s. oh another thing... wax darling, wax.

  18. Let me not to the marriage of true minds

Admit impediments. Love is not love

Which alters when it's alteration finds,

Or bends with the remover to remove:

O no! it is an ever-fixed mark

    That looks on tempest and is never shaken;

It is the star to every wandering bark,

Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.

Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks

Within his bending sickle's compass come:

Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,

But bears it out even to the edge of doom.

If this be error and upon me proved,

I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

Will's Sonnet 116. This is how love is ... should be; this is how it exists in people around me. It's good to be alive each day.

Yes, for all tomorrows plus a day my heart ... this is how I love you because I know of no other way.
