  1. Thank you STORM and the better (half) STORM for a wonderful 70's EB. My husband enjoyed meeting you both.

BODs and 16Track, nice to have finally met you. :)

Special Thanks to 16Track for the 2 CD's...Nice to hear the old Commodore songs but. I particularly like "This Is your Life" brings old memories back. AS for the "Bump" the beat is still there... will undeniably strong... but the body can't follow anymore. :D

For his music...I now forgive LIONEL RICHIE for having a daughter like NICOLE. :D

  2. hi jt! we also call them "Ladies Choice". there's always like that in a benefit dance, a fund raising. may tinatawag nga kaming "basket". may mga goods na ibebenta to the highest bidder habang sayaw sayaw niya ung kandidata. i dunno if u have this also.

i still can remember my very first dance, sweet dance, i mean. that was in a Girl's Scouts camping. i was in my sophomore high. i can't explain my feelings. di ko naman kilala ung partner ko. it was a blind date. the organisers invited some boys. pinapila sila and kami rin. then, isa isang lumapit ung mga boys sa amin and they are free to choose kung sino gusto nilang maging kapartner sa gabing yun. 'am just lucky, super guapo napunta sa akin. that was during the social night of the camping.

    Hi Sunflower.

First off, I must commend you for the very nice invite of STORM. I don't normally venture to far away Malate..but your invitation makes we want to see the real thing.

Second, the 70's memory (ies) i wish to erase are the BLIND DATEs... My JS Prom(s) and Grad Ball were all Blind dates...chosen among the sons in my mother's circle of friends...cajoled...coerced..blackmailed...bribed into going with me...as expected..they were all dates from Hell :P ...but time has a way of making up for the bad memories...they are ALL still my friends... but try as I may...still can't describe them as guapo... :P

Para hindi ma -OT 70's best era.

  3. Hi to all!

I enjoy reading this thread so much I have to add my share of memories:

    - Ace bag

    - Faded Glory Bang Bang jeans, braided on the waistline, and metal plate at the back.

    - Bargain House long sleeve body fit blouse

    - Supermax and Mighty Max hair dryers para we can flip our hair and bangs ala Farrah Fawcett!

Hi Liberty...You have to help me here... :* . My memory of the 70's is already depleted.. You can probably share the typical colegiala-party horror stories common during our time...I am sure San Lo is a world away from the green fields of Katiipunan but i am sure they are just as horrific and memorable. save the tusok-tusok the fishball stories for the 80's thread :D

    Welcome Libertyr.

  4. Augustmoon, Storm...andito rin pala kayo ah?? :D

Last week I just saw Juan Miguel Salvador's band Authority....trust me on this, that 80's music act will be worth every cent you pay, galing!

    Strumm's Jupiter, every THU night.

Era din namin ito :P Actually, more gimmicks during this decade..may work na kasi so may spending power na.... empowered na. Pag nag break ng houserules...puede na ipagmalaki ang diploma at SSS number !!! :D

noong 70's mga PAL(amunin) pa lang kami.

Sa 80's talaga natuto ng kalokohan.

    90's...SERIOUS na. :hypocritesmiley:

  5. Hello, Ms. Augustmoon.

Amparo Muñoz gave up her title to get married.  She couldn't be replaced by Helen Morgan, because Helen Morgan won the Miss World pageant that same year.  So in the 1975 Miss Universe pageant, no one took the traditional final walk on stage.  I remember that clearly, because I was expecting to see Amparo Muñoz (I still have the pictures that I bought at some photo shop in Cubao).  Wala.

Helen Morgan was also hit by controversy.  After she had already won the Miss World crown, it was learned that she was a single mother.  I'm not quite sure if she was stripped of the title or not.

JT....Ladies man ka pala :D tulad ni Bods (na alam ang naging whereabouts ng mga winners :) ) Yes, I also have pic of Ms U from a photo shop. I remember it costs 2.50 then.

Slide.... Baka mga mali ako sa title ng Europa but there is one song of Deo i like very much. Pag nawala na ang cobwebs sa memory ko, I will remember the title. :)

    Storm...nice concept, nice invitiation, nice work(s). :D

Good morning to all Senior Citizens to-be :thumbsupsmiley:

  6. Hi to all :D

This thread is getting to be very active...

Its good mental exercise for all of us...prevents those dreaded "senior moments" already common to our age group...

I just remembered...whatever became of the MS UNIVERSE 1974 (we had the pageant in Folk Arts) beauties? Si Ms Spain...(whats her name?) si Aruba.. Si Finland?? ... HOTDOG band even made a song "Ikaw ang Ms.Universe na buhay ko"..

And talking of bands.... for me the BEST ever is CIRCUS BAND !!! I remember seeing them play in RINO's in Roxas Blvd when I was 10 years old (I was the chaperone to my cousin)... I didnt know which overwhelmed me more ... the sizzling steak (uso yon noon) or the sizzle of rocker PABS DADIVAS or BASIL VALDEZ. Walang sinabi si BRITNEY sa attire ni TILLIE MORENO...and RICHARD TAN (Wala pang additinal "N" sa name niya, at hindi pa sila ni INNO noon  ) was the coolest dude. :D

  7. Hi There !!

I am new in this thread but have done a lot of backread. I am looking for a supplier of BOTTLES (8 oz, 12, 24 oz) for my deli-food brand that i do only during the Xmas season. Please PM me with details and quotes. I also give generous commissions to those who sell my products for Persoanl consumption and corporate gifts.

I am also open to business ideas / investments as venture capitalist (max is 100K) were returns are higher than bank rates (TD's). I don't have time to be hand-son as being wife and Mom is a priority so JV's and partnerships are not ideal for me. I have solid marketing background so I look for ventures that have sound fundamentals but i also go for new and untested ideas that have potential to grow.

    Thanks.

  8. Share ko lang...

I have a friend who is celebrating her 45th Birthday next month... 80's ang theme and RAGE band is playing. Great !!! :D This Lady really loves the 80's... she is even asking a group of friends to dance to the tune of ""Hey Mickey" choreographed and full production as part of the program. Of course, no takers :P

  9. Right smack in the middle of the decade came DEODATO with his Moonlight Serenade, Whirlwinds, Super Strut...etc...a totally different musical genre...galing! Ay sorry, G-LENG G-LENG pala (70's lingo) ! The very first concert I ever saw was Deodato at the Araneta, with Gilmore Digap and John Tropea in tow....what an experience to see the guy and hear his music live!

I have a feeling this going to be my favorite thread :D !!

What about the slow song "EUROPA" of DEODATO ?? Wala bang may CD ng Deodato??

I remember G-Leng!! G-Leng !! as ARIEL URETA's line... Remember his show Ariel con Tina ??? He had this show na parang "For Men Only" - I forgot the name... were ELLEN ESGUERRA (Bold star) accidentaly showed her left boob (apparently ginaya ni Janet Jackson he! he!) when her strap fell that caused an uproar headed by the moralist POLLY CAYETANO ???

This is really a fun thread. :P

  10. .

If you want to make a nearly-authentic one try this :

    Use ARMOUR liver spread. (ONLY)

Use DELIFRANCE baguette. Another option would be the LE COUER DE FRANCE (but toast it longer)

A day before.... mariniate cucumber and carrot sticks in 1/2 cup DELMONE VINEGAR with 1 tsp white sugar and a dash of WHITE pepper. Refrigerate.

If you want to add a meat loaf use the MALING (green can this has garlic).

Don't forget the wansoy.. and if you like lime leaves but not necessary

    Pile it all up.

To top it sprinkle a conbination of iodized and white pepper on top of the filling

    Enjoy. :) :)

  11. We discovered NEW TONG KEE chinese tea house in the WILSON SJ area (its the street after Alex the III coming from Ortigas turn right).

It a small place (actually 4 tables lang). Quaint. Prices cheap. Good food. Parang nasa Ongpin ka na. The operators are so hands-on imagine the chef ALSO delivering food? Not much diners pero ang dami take-out and delivery. !!!

I recommend the Seafood Pancit Canton. The best i have tasted. The beef dishes are great too.

  12. In the early 80's i was preppy all the way, i practically lived in my Penny loafers... I just junked them after graduation from college. 20+++ years, after my taste is still influenced by those preppy days... I still am partial to khaki and earth colors...and yes, never ever was there a time I didnt have loafers in my shoe rack..TOD's na nga lang ngayon :)

    I hated those shoulder pads!!!!!!

My favorite "comfort music" from the 60's I still play now is "Rock the Casbah" and my idol-wanna-be then was Belinda Carlysle.

  13. well, I never wanted to leave Pasig, having grown up there and soaked up the place for 25 years, but I also got transplanted now to another place by virtue of marriage, though I have no virtue. :P

lotsa of memories of parties in my friend's house there in the 70's. Nowadays it's so hard to imagine how we were able to hold and enjoy parties with music coming from such an unwieldy thing as an LP record  If in those parties, the girls were hopeful with each dance, nervous and clumsy kids like me were always fearful. Aside from having two left feet, I also had the habit of putting my foot in my mouth whenever I talked with a girl.

Ay naku Bods.... 25 years ago, LAHAT awkward...'wag lang sana, 25 years after ganoon pa rin... but mind you, madami pa rin di nagbabago..

If we only knew Then, what we know now life will be much better kaya?!!

Another thing... it really amazes me how we can party with... JUST Spaghetti and Pineapple GIN punch. :D

  14. Do you guys remember the parties where EVERYBody seems to smell like JOVAN musk Oil....and then came JOVAN grass oil ????? For us, then teenyboppers...it was CHARLIE and SWEET HONESTY...

Another funny thing was that pag time to eat na....meaning lights ON...guys would rush to the table and EAT first, while the girls, with faces DOWN rush to the nearest room/CR for a touch up....!!!!

And for the girls...open secret na that we ONLY wear Bra PADS pag may parties... I sure wish there were WONDER BRA's then na... we were left to our own creativity by using tissue paper or even stockings to "vulcanize" our chests...though you boys also had your own gimmick..I heard of a story about a young boy putting BATTERIES in his front for an illusion of a hard-on to scare us dim-witted virgins...could be an urban legend...but it did gave us the creeps....

And the usual conversation during sweet dances were really somethinh.... I remember a young man from Ateneo asking me what my favorite subject was (BIOLOGY then) then continued to enumerate the whole Animal Kingdom...Phylum...Family...Order ....Genus and Species!!!!! ....well, at least he put that to good use as he is now one of the best young surgeons...well there were irreverent topics too... and true to form, they were from boys now men... who after 25 ++ years are still irreverent :D

What if......mag-party ulit kaya at this day and age...with the same music and the same cast of characters...ha! ha! ha! Iamgine men with distended waistlines dancing the 12 steps... to the tune of funky town...priceless... :boo:

  15. Hi Bods.

My fondest memory of vinyl is the shwoooozing sound as the needle hits the vinyl na may dead air bago mag intro ng song.....pag parties, prayer time na iyan ng mga girls....hoping they would be picked up to dance with...he!he!

I now live in Pasig by virtue of marriage. I was born and bred in QC...I have just transplanted myself to Pasig in 1994.

I have no doubt that the fellowship and camaraderie will be worth joining the group EB for. I just hope, wala masyadong "senior moments"...but from the looks of it....no one in the forum is close to senility :D ...what with the constant menatl exercise of re-living the glory days.

    Ituloy na yan EB. :)

  16. Sige mga pare ko. I'm in. Para makita ko naman ang mga katropa!

Actually natuloy yung Teriyaki Boy EB ng 36+. Hindi kayo nakapunta. Sana makasama natin si Ms. Augustmoon at si JT.

    @JT

JCS rocks pare! "Try not to get worried... everything seems alright... close your eyes and relax...."

Bigla ko tuloy naalala si Nora Aunor

    @ Bods

I was watching kanina yung CABARET. Ang galing talaga!

"Money makes the world go round, the world go round..."

I'll compare it with CHICAGO which I'll watch again tonight.

If my schedule allows. I will join. Basta not more than 7 km radius from my homebase Pasig City. :)

Just advice what the Potluck/damage would be.

Thanks for the invite Storm. I bet the 70's blues ambient music will not be scratchy (like vinyl), thanks to CD's.
