Frugal in the sense that I will make sure that some money is set aside (after all monthly bills are paid) for other plans such as buying a home, kids' tuition, saving for our retirement, family vacations, etc.

I love the powerpuff girls. I think it's one of the smarter cartoon shows out there. I find the show a bit artsy too. :cool:

Yes I know that but sorry partner (as pareng mandrake attested), the "voice" or lead vocals of the recorded album was really manong Mike's. Mike Hanopol mismo said "ako lahat iyon" when I asked him if he really was the voice behind Hagibis. Obvious naman even when I first heard it. I also knew the sisters of Mike Respal (a Hagibis member) when I was in UP. The younger of the sisters even played the role of Kim in later productions of Miss Saigon.

 

During those days of the disco and Manila sound and because there were no MTV yet, a lot of singers rendered vocals for other groups or recorded songs using a different name.

 

Vic Sotto was the lead vocalist of VST & Co. and Blue Jeans who had a tagalog hit song Paniwalaan Mo. The members of VST & Co was also the members of Blockbuster. Helen Gamboa was Bonnie Chanel. VST stands for Vicente Sotto III who is now running again for senator.

Hagibis was the local Village People. Hot Dog started the Manila Sound with Pers lab and Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko. Wadab, Boyfriends and VST & Co were the local Beegees. :cool:

 

Joey de Leon also wrote a lot of lyrics for VST & Co. Tito, Vic and Joey contributed a lot in the growth of OPM.

The VST & Co. hit "Ipagpatawad Mo" was obviously sung by Vic Sotto and was a Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon composition. It ranks as one of my all-time favorite Pinoy love songs.

I fully agree with your statement na TV&J contributed a lot to OPM music. I believe Joey De Leon penned the song "O, Lumapit Ka" made popular by Ella del Rosario.

i would be negotiating for and on behalf of individuals with delinquent accounts with credit cards... and i am looking for points of leverage in negotiations...

 

do credit card companies declare delinquent accounts as part of operational losses, thus having the net effect of lowering income and thus their taxability? if so, how soon after does the company declare this loss? is it operative that once they transfer collections externally (meaning collection agency) they write it off from their books?

Let me take a shot at your questions.

I will treat the first question as independent of the second one.

Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) require that losses be reported within the same accounting period they are found. The losses should satisfy 2 conditions: (1) The loss has a reasonable probability of occurence; and (2) the amount of loss can be reasonably estimated. In the case of credit card companies, once they have deemed that certain accounts are no longer collectible, they are required by GAAP rules to report the write-off of such accounts as operational losses, thus hitting their bottom line.

With regard to your second question. The assignment of collection to a collection agency normally does not mean that a customer's account has been written off. Instead, the company merely transferred the collection effort to another agency/entity in the hope that a collection agency would be able to provide a more focused collection effort against certain customers. In this particular situation, no write-off is effected on the books of the credit card company. Receivables are still on the credit card company's books and the collection agency earns commissions on successful collections.
