  1. greetings...

nagpapatulong sa akin yung isang friend ko dahil yung driver ng motherboard niya e nawala.  so nag search kami sa net. by the way, ito nga pala yung motherboard niya:

    http://www.sceusa.com/p4xfb.htm

    may nakita akong driver niyan:

    http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/product/p-4/p4xfb/p4xfb.htm

pero nung click ko na yung download driver, nag open naman siya ng new window:

    http://www.jetway.com.tw/evisn/download/driver/index-1.htm

san po diyan sa mga list na yan ang compatible para sa motherboard ng friend ko?  or kung may iba pa kayong alam na site na puwedeng magdownload ng driver niyan eh pakipost na lang.

    thanks in advance.

Since the motherboard's chipset was made by VIA, the generic drivers for VIA mainboards should be compatible with your motherboard. Go to this site and find the VIA 4-in-1 Hyperion driver set and install that on your system. Also, the sound drivers can also be found there. Just find the VIA AC97 drivers for it. :headsetsmiley:

  2. Hello everyone! I just have a question regarding C# programming...I'm trying to create a user control that accepts any type of control (buttons, labels, etc. ) now how can I create a property that will accept the control and initialize a specific private global variable which is of the same type as that which was accepted by the control? For example, if I have a Button type, it should initialize with a = new Button(); thingee...and if its a Label, it should follow that initializes with the = new Label() thing...well, hopefully someone can understand what I'm trying to say here...I'm much better at describing it physically than mentally... :P

  3. Have a prob.

Recently whenever I startup my PC winxp service pack 2

right after the logo nscreen biglang  black screen for a while tapos flicker ung monitor tas un desktop na.. Di ko alam bakit recently lang.

Tapos one time pag starup ko nagbeep for a couple of times tas nag start din

Dati nang faulty ung hard drive ko,actually la pa kasi budget pang replace ung tipong naghahang pc ko every minute or so (HD prob un diba?)

I guess pde rin na di naka kabit ng maigi ung cable pero I really dont open my pc case kasi, rely on a technician.

    So any solutions?

The flicker may mean that it's loading some drivers/services which is why it's not immediately refreshing the screen. Since you say that your HD is having problems lately, they may be connected because a problem in reading data in your HD may slow down the data processing speed of your computer at such a time in between the load screen and the actual desktop screen. Try reducing the number of applications that load at start-up and also test if your HD has developed some new bad sector problems in order to get the maximum performance again from your computer. Hope this helps... :headsetsmiley:

  4. Mga tol kelangan paba palitan ung motherboard ko if il replace the video card?

4x lang kasi kaya ng board ko luma na pero wanna get new video card

RAM pde siguro at HD pero pde kaya sa old board ko ung mag neew video cards today tuad nung mga AGP 8x?

No. Btw, if your board is based on a VIA chipset, I'd recommend going into your BIOS settings and setting it down to 2x mode (especially on Apollo based boards) since it will cause an occasional crash whenever you're playing 3D games. AGP 8x cards can be used on your board BUT it will only have a transfer speed equal to your AGP port's maximum setting (or current setting). :headsetsmiley:

  5. Thanks po kakaiba & R@ven.

    1.  so parang bumili na rin cguro ako ng bagong computer. :( mas nakakatipid kaya ako on upgrade than buying a new computer? (my pc is still in excellent condition, i guess video card na lang ang i-upgrade ko)

    2. Thanks! may pagasa pa pala ako makalaro ng bagong games. (I'll try Cyberzone in Megamall muna)

    Thanks again guys.  :*  :headsetsmiley:

1.) Maybe, it depends on how good you are at finding cheap hardware components. :P

2.) You should also try the Gilmore chain and also the CyberZone in SM West (or North...whatever :P )

    You're welcome. :headsetsmiley:

  6. got problems updating yor windows box via windows update? :grr:

that's bcoz, recently, Microsoft started requiring users to verifiy their serial number before using Windows Update via their updated WGA written in ActiveX. This effort is to force users to either buy XP or tell them where you got the illegal copy is called 'Genuine Advantage.'

within 24 hours, a workaround has been achieved...

    what to know how?

just pm me. (to avoid posting the howto. if posted too often, it can be crawled by any bots or crawler and eventually, Microsoft will get a hand on it and any updates about the workaround)  B)

Fufufufu...another attempt by M$ to stop piracy...anyway, security updates are still available even if you don't agree to the WGA verification so those of you who still are very zealous of your computer's security AND are using pirated versions are still safe! Anyway, if they do restrict downloads even to security updates, let's just all not update and have those viruses infect our machines in order to conduct a DOS attack on M$'s website/s... :P

    hi tanong lang po...  :headsetsmiley:

is there a way i can upgrade my aging pc?: Pentium III lang sya but branded sya "DELL PowerEdge 1300" 2002 ko pa nabili...

    1. can i upgrade it to Pentium 4 or higher?

    2. meron pa bang mabibili na mataas pa na PCI video card? (i'm just using 32 mb S3 Savage Pro --- i want faster video card, so i can install new games) kung meron pa, saan po kaya  mabibili ito?

thanks po..  :*  sana matulungan nyo ako kung paano ma upgrade.. ayaw ko pa palitan.. sayang naman.  :)

    1. Yes...but you have to replace the motherboard and possibly your RAM in order to do it. Maybe even your power supply...pentium 4s suck A LOT of POWER...

    2. Yes...although it's quite hard to get them here in the Philippines...you need to be extremely patient in searching different shops that may or may not be within a single location...

    :headsetsmiley:

HELP naman po.  I'm using P4 internal modem, dial-up connection, skyinternet ISP unlimited account, mozilla browser... Now every 30 minutes or so i get disconnected.  I am using the same account on another computer (laptop) pero hindi naman siya nadidisconnect kahit magdamag.  Any settings that I should look at?

    Thanks for any help  :(

You may have been infected by adware/spyware/virus program/s... :headsetsmiley:

  7. Try Alcohol 120%, can't remember the latest version since updates are quite regular. the program is pretty small, and you can rip nearly all CD/DVDs into images. BTW, this isn't free. You can look for cracks at www.astalavista.com or download the program with a crack on mininova.org.

Or use a keygen...like what I use to activate it artificially... :D

Actually, buying branded notebooks does not guaranteee headache-free service. The HP laptops used at my office developed problems with their harddisk and RAM, and it took nearly 2 weeks for the techs to diagnose and repair the problems. Most of the time was spent waiting for the appropriate parts because they had none on stock. Apple took more than 2 months to repair my other boss's powerbook because they had to order the replacement battery from the US. My advice is to buy the notebook (whether branded/unbranded) from a dependable store who can fix the notebook themselves. That way, its a more personal service, and you can pressure them to work faster.

I agree but if my memory serves me correctly(and please correct me if I am wrong :hypocritesmiley: ...), this is all about to change since Intel is trying to standardize protocols regarding notebook hardware interconnectivity especially for generic notebooks. :headsetsmiley:

  8. use a virtual CD program and create images of your game CD. the program essentially tricks your OS in to thinking you have an additional CD ROM drive mounted in your PC, and that Drive contain all your game CDs. Highly recommended if you want to extend the life of your CD Roms discs.

Don't forget that it also extends the life of your CDROM/DVDROM DRIVES!!!

Btw, if the game is protected using Securom v4.5 and above, the virtual CDs may not work after you patch your game to a higher version so be warned... :headsetsmiley:

  9. I bought a couple of Original games for the PC... as usual you'll have to leave the CD inside the bay to be able to enjoy it...  Do you guys have any ideas on how I could enjoy the games without having the CD?

Try Alcohol 120%...coupled with Daemon-Tools... :headsetsmiley:

  10. firefox

    mozilla

    opera

here also... i recently tried microsoft outlook browser although ie din, walang huli ng IT dept. hehehe... :thumbsupsmiley:

Don't be so sure bro. If it still passes through your company's proxy server, it will still show up on the browsed sites list if ever the administrator checks it... :headsetsmiley:

  11. Why is 128MB video card not enough? Ask lang

If you're using Windows XP and plan on using your box for gaming, then 128 MB of RAM is really not enough. The OS will just consume that much leaving your games with just a few MB of memory. It is common nowadays to use 256 MB of RAM as a baseline but even that is lacking if you're a serious hardcore gamer. :headsetsmiley:

  12. do you think XP is faulty?  had the same problem, upgraded memory, but still crashes, though less now...

One tech I spoke with said nga, mapili ang XP...

No. It's just that it becomes faulty when it's installed through an upgrade from a lesser OS. (especially if from an ME...) :headsetsmiley:

Exan ko lang ah.. but it seems bumabagal ang computer running on XP especially kung i-upgrade mo with SP2.  Napansin ko there is a definite lag/slowing down of my unit after upgrading.

I simply removed the upgrade and poof! Balik sa dating bilis.

Ang ginawa ko na lang ay reformat ng unit and including the SP2 upgrades in the installation.  Same ang lumabas without the lag.

In my experience pinakastable pa rin ang windows 98.  However, marami nang programs ang hindi tatakbo under win98.

That's actually the case with ALL Windows XP updates. It causes lag when you install it on top of a "used" system. Which is why I always create new (updated) CD installers of WinXP so that the next time I install, it installs all updates automatically. (saves a lot of time by the way too...) :headsetsmiley:

  13. ...tsaka pano naging posible magkaron ng dalawang graphics card?

I assume that you're asking about the latest news in the tech world regarding future video cards which support running in a sort of parallel mode...it is accomplished by assigning one of the two video cards a specific scene/area/level of computing, etc. to render while the other handles the rest. The two major GPU vendors, NVidia and ATI, have different ways by which they accomplish this although basically, the concepts are the same. Surf the web for more info...usually from the tech sites like tomshardware and anandtech... :headsetsmiley:

  14. any tips on how to install a program in win2000 without administrative rights?

Get administrative rights... :P Seriously speaking, if it's an NT based OS like Windows 2000, it's almost impossible to install a program on it. (At least a big and serious type of program that is...) :headsetsmiley:

*Also, I would like to address everyone who is installing OSes on their machines to please DON'T EVER INSTALL WIN ME ON IT!!! You're better off with Windows 98 than on an ME. And if you're upgrading, please NEVER UPGRADE AN ME!!! Perform a clean install to ensure a headache free computing future... :)

  15. pano po mag reformat ng win98 to xp tapos dual boot ng knoppix?

First make sure that all necessary data are backed-up to ensure that you won't commit suicide afterwards... :P

Second, insert your Windows XP CD and restart the computer. If all goes well, the computer should boot up from the XP CD instead of from the HD. (Assuming you have a bootable XP CD installer...) Once there follow the instructions until you see a screen where you choose on which partition you should install XP to. Here you must delete all partitions* (this is why you must back-up your data...) and create a partition that is large enough for your XP needs but small enough so that there is still some space left on the HD for the Knoppix install later. (About 2.8 GB if you're not planning to install applications on your Knoppix/Debian (since it's already installed on the HD...) installation...) Afterwards, just continue on with the XP setup and remember to read always...

Once the XP setup is completed, boot from the Knoppix CD and run the Knoppix HD installer from the root shell: sudo knoppix-installer. Afterwards just follow directions. Btw, while installing Knoppix on your HD, you will be asked to create two partitions for your Knoppix/Debian Linux installation, one for your Knoppix, the other for the swap. Everything should be fine afterwards. If you have any more questions, just surf to Knoppix.Net for more details regarding the Knoppix Installer utility. :headsetsmiley:

*this is deemed necessary if you often play with your partitions with Partition Magic...it sometimes messes up the partition table which makes installing the boot loader a great pain... :)

  16.

whats your take on laptops with the centrino processors as compared to a ht processor? given they have an almost identical specification...

Specification??? Meaning clockspeed??? Anyway, they are based from two completely different architectures. Simply put, the Centrino is a much closer decendant of the Pentium 3 than it is of a Pentium 4HT. Also, the Centrino can only process a single thread (simply put, a SINGLE working component of a program) per clock while the HT processors TRY (it isn't always possible...) to execute 2 threads per clock. :headsetsmiley:

Please help me out. my pc is a p-4 1.8 ghz with 256 ddr. I recently changed my os from win me to win xp pro. whenever i play games, it hangs. when use other programs, it takes a long time to open and when it does there is a mesage " the systems just recovered from a serious error" asking me to send to microsoft.

is there anyway to trouble shoot the problem? or do i need to clean install all over again?

    thanks!!

You need to perform a clean install IF you just upgraded to XP from ME. If you performed a clean install...well haven't encountered any problems similar to yours from a clean install... :P

does any1 here knows how to hack?

Depends on the definition of hack...

[1] Hack - types extremely long lines of code (programming)

I know how to hack!!!

[2] Hack - break into a system to do whatever he/she wishes there etc. etc. (in short the media version)

No hacker in his/her right state of mind would respond to this question on a public forum... :P

  17. yes, may security holes ang firefox, pero not as major and vulnerable as the security holes in IE.

Firefox really won't have holes that are as major as IE since the main difference between them is that IE is TIGHTLY INTEGRATED into Windows while Firefox isn't. This allows IE to become a gateway so that a program may tamper with the OS itself. :P

  18. I really just need assistance Ü

So I finally decided to reinstall FC4 test 3 (not my first time; i've done RH7, 9, FC 1, 2 before with no issues), going with the defaults; everything finished:

[1] On previous releases, I would edit /etc/X11/XF86Config to specify my monitor's exact horizontal/vertical refresh rate constraints. This file does not seem to exist in FC4 (or probably FC3 as well, but I've never gotten my hands on it). I am now left with a measly 800/600 resolution, which is not very nice on a 17-inch screen

[2] I made sure i installed the boot loader in the 1st sector of the boot partition, but still i get this 3-sec. pre-boot loader screen before the GRUB/MSFT boot loader comes up. i'm not sure if this is a feature or a bug.

    Test bed machine: 1.6 GHz P4 n.wood, 256MB-DDR, Radeon 7000, multi-boot with 2000/XP MCE

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thanks and regards all.

[1] I have no idea... just replying to number [2]...

[2] Maybe the loader screen was installed on the Master Boot Record while the GRUB/MSFT loader is in the active partition's boot record. If so, you'll need to overwrite the MBR with something depending on your needs. You could use the fdisk/mbr option if you have a bootable diskette or try the recovery console of Windows XP CDROM to replace the MBR. That should clear up the pre-loader screen and go straight to the loader you installed on the active partition. *

    * This happened to me while I was attempting my first install of Linux... :thumbsupsmiley:

  19. CD Rom Problems

I have a 60x cdrom (generic). Before, i can encode cd tracks to mp3 & aac using

Music Match & Nokia Audio Manager (NAM) respectively w/o any problems. But now, as im encoding a

new cd (pirated & genuine), Music match detects an error & it records it as analog...therefore

there's no music coming out of the mp3 converted format. I try it w/ NAM to convert it to

aac but NAM doesnt respond when i save tracks.

I also did the same procedure w/ my previously successful converted tracks but the problems

    are now there.

Btw, it can play music directly as is (music cd) using Music Match, Nam, Windows Media

Player & the built in cd player.

Is there a physical problem w/ my rom?

In my experience, this is quite a common problem with OLD GENERIC cd-rom drives. Generic drives have a tendency to have some components fail within the first year of operation. (Specially if the drive is used heavily...) Sometimes, the DMA controller breaks and oftentimes, it's the capability to do digital audio extraction that fails first. Since according to your more recent post you have just reformatted your hard disk, it must be that your hardware has begun to fail. I would recomment replacing your generic drive with a branded one. (Recommended drives are from ASUS and SONY...) :headsetsmiley:
