PBA admits refs missed clear Pinto foul for tugging Tenorio shirt

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – The PBA admitted the referees erred on a crucial non-call on a fou on LA Tenorio in the waning seconds of Game 4 of the Philippine Cup semifinals between Barangay Ginebra and Meralco.

Through operations and technical director Eric Castro, the league said the assigned referee was not in a good position to call a foul on Meralco guard John Pinto who pulled the jersey of Tenorio as he was about to receive the inbound pass from Scottie Thompson right in front of the Bolts bench.

SMART CLARK GIGA CITY – Wondering why Arth dela Cruz has not yet suited up for Barangay Ginebra in the PBA bubble?

The forward is suffering from a hamstring tear, which unfortunately, he suffered when individual workouts among teams began the last week of August.

But coach Tim Cone expects Dela Cruz to finally suit up behind managed minutes when the Philippine Cup eliminations resume Tuesday at the Angeles University Foundation gym.

The 28-year-old native of San Miguel, Bulacan was supposed to play his first bubble outing last Friday against San Miguel before the league announced the four-day postponement of the games in compliance with the recommendations made by the IATF on PBA protocols.

Now, Dela Cruz could make his season debut for the Kings against Alaska.

Cone said his coaching staff is ready to play the former San Beda stalwart at least 12 to 15 minutes at the most as he recuperates from his hamstring injury.

It also augured well for him the brief break taken by the league starting last weekend.

“Good for him it gave him an extra day or two to get ready,” said Cone of Dela Cruz.

PBA suspends season upon IATF recommendation.

MANILA, Philippines — The PBA will be suspending all its games beginning today, October 30, upon the recommendation of the Inter-Angecy Task Force Technical Working Group.

The league announced the surprising development on Friday on social media that all games will be called off until "new protocols from the IATF and the DOH" are in place in the PBA bubble.

Two individuals, a referee and a player, yielded positive tests for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) but turned out negative in confirmatory tests.

The two suspect cases within the league's bubble in Clark City, Pampanga were deemed "false positives".
